Welcome to LFD! This series is meant to be an easily digestible, simplified, short, and somewhat entertaining lore ‘crash course’ for those who want to learn more without wading through grimoire.
Hello fellow consciousness! Today is the ‘pilot’ lore post of my new series, Lore for Dummies (LFD). Not that you’re a dummy. That came out wrong. Anyways.
——
Today we’ll talk about the most engrossing love story of all time: the Fallen. Yes, even these four-armed space pirates have interesting tales to tell. Let’s begin!
History
Our story begins in a solar system far far away...where the Fallen, or Eliksni in their own language, hung out. Then, the Traveler we all know and love came and graced them with a Golden Age, one of great technological advancement.
Yes, the Traveler and the Eliksni civilization loved each other. When the Traveler left, the Eliksni, like a guy who just got dumped, fell into a bloody chaos known as the Whirlwind.
The Fallen (as in ‘fallen from the Traveler’s Light’) then chased the Traveler to its current resting place, perhaps to regain their ex-girlfriend or to pursue revenge.
Nowadays, the Fallen are pirates and scavengers, hoping to survive.
Fallen Life
The Fallen are organized into Houses, groups of power. A Kell is the leader of a House, and all the glory of it!
Fallen are kept alive by a substance called Ether (this what shoots out from precision-killing Fallen). This yummy stuff is created by the purple-ey round machines we know as Servitors.
This dependence is also their religion, with Fallen worshipping Prime Servitors, which control Servitors under it. An Archon Priest is ‘linked’ to one of these (in weird ways not even Bungie understands).
The chain of command in Fallen society isn’t based on how big your guns are, or how many followers you have on Darknessgram, but how many pairs of ARMS you have.
Next time you fight some Fallen, note their arm amounts. Dregs, for instance, have one pair, while Vandals and Captains have two. You can also notice their Ether masks that keep them alive.
Fallen are ritually docked (or had their lower arms removed) early in their lives (ew) and affixed growth plates to prevent their regrowth. These are known as Dregs. Only by proving themselves worthy (in glorious combat!) can the plates (known as ‘docking caps’) be removed, second pair grown, and thus become a Vandal. Vandals who claw their way to the top become Captains.
Vandals or Captains can also be docked for insubordination or cowardice by a superior, becoming Dregs again. Appreciate your appendages, people!
——
That should be it. I hope you learned something from this, and I wish you well in the war against the Darkness.
Knowledge is power. Kill stuff with it.

Also vex minds title usually begin with the and end with mind The undying mind for a example
ok I can’t do this. I’m good at finding lore not teaching it
1 ReplyMany former dregs also have robotic lower limbs because they were unable to regrow their second pair for whatever reason
-
3 RepliesDidn’t read. Reported.
-
2 RepliesSo fallen have genders? How do they procreate? Does 2 pair of arms make it more fun?
-
This was nice. I want more. :)

Become allies with the fallen when?! Playable fallen characters soon?! Fallen romance options in the near future?! 🤔🤔🤔
-
4 RepliesThey are called docking caps, not plates. They are literally caps placed over the amputated stumps that prevent regrowth of the limb. -blam!-in barbaric if you ask me.
-
Docking caps were on dregs in D1. If you notice now the dregs do not have caps, and their limbs are starting to regrow, because they are desperate. Wretches are fallen in the state between dreg and vandal, as the stump arms are longer. Marauders are between vandals and captains, they use the stealth tech and weapons of a captain but have not had enough ether to complete the transition. This was why more classes of fallen were added and the visual change in D2. The fallen were so desperate that they abandoned their old ways of docking it appears.

This was awesome! I hope you make more of these for more in depth lore!

3 RepliesNot too shabby. Perhaps a bit more info is needed. The entertainment factor is appreciated but try to communicate exact terms in parentheses after substituting your own unique word. 😎
