All generations have good music. Like no 10 years has been absolute garbage. 65-75 has the years with the majority of my favorite songs.

13 RepliesEdited by Upperclass Bum: 11/26/2018 4:32:23 AMI love these threads. Always have a good giggle or two from all the wrong gen kids and old farts with their heads far up their ass... Honestly surprised to see that last option at 21%. Maybe you're not all idiots after all.

I can’t pick a specific decade, but 70’s to 2000 had a lot of nostalgic songs and albums. Still great stuff coming out though, Judas Priest has a new album last March that is fantastic

Mid-nineties for me

6 RepliesOverall, I think the 80s were the most impactful and has the most amount of one hit wonder songs that I remember every single word. In the niche worlds of progressive music, blues, metal, jazz and country, the quality of musicianship of actual bands with actual musicians is all top notch and have more and more players who are light years beyond what anyone has done in the previous 100 years.

23 RepliesEdited by Partisan: 11/25/2018 3:03:48 PMWhile "today's music sucks" is objectively one of the worst opinions a member of the human species (and, weirdly enough, a salamander native to South America) has ever had, we can take some pleasure in knowing the people* who think it are making their lives worse by missing out on a bunch of music they actually would enjoy, if only they didn't have such terrible opinions *The salamander is exempt from criticism, as holding opinions such as these (see also: "remakes are ruining my childhood") are an effective defense mechanism against predators, who are too busy rolling their eyes and thinking of an excuse to leave the one-sided conversation to eat the salamander

4 Replies2040-2050s. Bump from the future.

as much as i really like older music i dont think that todays music is that bad. it just seems like it because the internet and platforms like soundcloud, youtube let you reach a broader audience. this leads to more music available and more niches.
-
Did you mean best music for period?
-
Today, because while most current music may suck, I can easily find any song from any time period I want.

Personally I have a hard time choosing between 70s and 80s. 70s because I feel like creativity for a number of genres was at its peak and things like Prog and Metal came from it while also expanding genres like electric blues, jazz, funk, and rock into forms that are very familiar to us today. 80s, however, carried the stuff that was made from the creativity in the 70s and kicked it up to 11. Metal became huge and more experimental and heavy stuff came from it like Thrash and Death metal while also appealing to the mainstream side with Glam Metal. Performers were able to be entertaining and still be extremely talented musicians since they were able to pull whatever crazy thing they wanted to do on their instrument and still run around stage and jump around, something very few mainstream acts are able to do today. I feel the the fact they were able to make catchy, easy to listen to music without taking away from the technical skill is something that started dying down into a near nonexistent state after the 80s. I also wanted to touch on modern day being a great era for music just because of the fact that it’s easier than ever to find music because of streaming services. You can find hundreds of amazing artists that are virtually unheard of in a few taps on your phone and that’s a really good thing imo

2 RepliesEdited by Psyntifik: 11/26/2018 1:07:41 PMPresent day. Every year music gets more and more accessible and genres are ever evolving. Hip-Hop, for example, is in a better place than it has ever been. When else has someone with talent been able to get worldwide recognition by making music in his bedroom thanks to platforms like Soundcloud or YouTube? When else have I been able to load up Spotify and discover new artists, and be introduced to new genres in a matter of moments?

2 Repliesall I'll say is that Halo 2, Morrowind, and Halo 3 ODST came out in 2000-2009 and they all have fantastic music.
-
Classic rock, golden songs, and orchestral was the pinnacle of Human music, everything went downhill after that, especially today with the mind numbingly stupid gorilla butt stank auto-tuned “rap” and the idiotic $2 a month sound cloud nobodies
-
How is the last 8 years in 2nd place? Music is auto tuned garbage now.
-
1 ReplyAnyone who chose 2000+ is a dumb normie. All modern music is dumb rap and pop. Unlike you degenerates I listen to 30 year old music which means I have a higher IQ. I swear I was born in the wrong generation.
-
Did the music go somewhere? Best period is now cause you can listen whenever you want.

itt:
wrong generation reee
20 RepliesNo offense, but who the frick chose 2000+?
-
2 RepliesToday. You get all of this era's best music, AND you can still listen to all the great music of the past.
-
All of the above.
-
I'm all over the place but like a lot of 90s stuff but also early 2000s when all the heavy metal bands we're on the rise and Hot Topic was the place to go to freak your parents out. Oh the edgy days...

80s music is best music.
