Look, I get that you want to get things done, but is that really an excuse to exclude and be a d*ck to the less experienced people who are trying to do the raid also?
After going over a month of no online play because of a hurricane, I finally managed to get back and play again. I wanted to play Last Wish and finally get through the raid, but every time I explained my situation, I was immediately shut down. I attempted joining at least 20 groups, all essentially telling me the same thing: “We don’t want inexperienced players, go bother someone else.” The only somewhat nice response was “We’ll let you join, but we will have to kick you out once we find someone more experienced.” (I’m not joking, that was the exact response I got from someone).
And I know what you’re going to say, “Make your own group and stop complaining.” This is where I kindly tell you to shove it.
You don’t think I tried that? It’s the same thing no matter what. I try joining a group, they want experienced players. I try making a group, they still want experienced players.
TL;DR: It doesn’t hurt to help out some people and teach them how to do a raid. Guides on YouTube don’t cover everything, and some things are better learned with hands on experience. Plus you aren’t always going to find someone with 100+ completions. So quit being a d*ck and just help people.
Edit:
Just clearing some things up.
1). I am not saying everyone who completed a raid is an elitist and a d*ck.
2). Look, maybe I did rub off the wrong way, but what I said is what I think. The elitism needs to stop. It really doesn’t hurt to take a couple minutes before each encounter starts to give a quick rundown of what is going to happen. Like I said, a video doesn’t explain an encounter as well as hands on experience.
3). To the people saying that they are constantly finding helpful groups and all that: What’s your secret? How are you this lucky? I just have really bad luck with this kind of thing then.

Go hover over raid click on the thing that matches you to a clan carrying people

8 RepliesLook, people have no obligation to help on this. Would it be nice if more people did help? Yes of course. But you are way out of line throwing a tantrum and calling everyone dicks. Just wanting to get it done is NOT being a dick. Not everyone has 6 consecutive free hours. Others just don't like to teach because they are not comfortable doing it. Some groups are barely getting by and know they'll have trouble with a novice. Besides, raiding with people who know what to do is a lot of fun. Realize that to them, you're not special. The majority of novices do require a lot of attention and make raids longer. Unfortunately, thanks to all the twats below who are suggesting you lie about your experience, raid stats are the only way to keep people honest. Now, seriously, make your own group. I'm telling you from actual experience: it works. This is how I started raiding (King's Fall was my first). Was it a smooth ride? No, it was a clusterfvck. 5 n00bs and a very discouraged sherpa. But over the following weeks, we tried again, some players left the group, we recruited others, and eventually, we ended up with a regular group and were raiding regularly. Friends and friends of friends were all I needed to get this going. I never had to use any LFG, but I could have if needed. The best part is that I had a regular raid group and a network of people that can fill in, or who even form their own groups and invite me. And because people drop out, novices join in and get helped to do their first raids and they become regulars. It's far better than constantly having to deal with LFG. With LFG, it's like you are starting over again every time. No wonder people want other experienced players. Think of LFG as a stepping stone. Having a network of regulars is the end goal.

I have over 17 clears on the raid. Last night I spent 6 hours teaching a new group how to do the raid just so I could get a triumph for the Rivensbane seals. 6HOURS! I don’t want to spend 18 hours a week doing the raid and teaching it every time when I can just find an experienced group of max light levels to finish under the hour. Not that I don’t want to help newbies with the raid, just that I don’t have the time to. There are plenty of people I see on the forums that have a post that says “Last Wish inexperienced players” and even more clans willing to Sherpa players, you just need to spend a little longer looking

4 RepliesThis is the #1 reason matchmaking shouldn’t be in the raids. I can be selective about joining/making a group and screen people. In a randomly matchmade world, I’d load it up and get stuck with 5 blueberry hunters with no raid experience, incorrect load outs, and no mics. No, sorry, I personally don’t have 4 hours to clear the raid when I can do it in 45 mins.

2 RepliesWow people offer you a solution to make a new group and you tell them to shove it. Grow up.
-
I made a raid group for my first LW run the other day. Advertising that anyone can join, just be chill. All new people except one joined to try the raid. In the second encounter I believe four players left, we couldn’t do the plates so it wore on some people. The one guy who was a champ at it, invited three of his friends and they proceeded to teach us the encounters and we finished the raid in under and hour (we did do the cluster strategy though). We were carried but I picked up enough to where I think I can join more experienced groups now without being kicked. Moral of the story: there’s some really cool dudes out there, like this guy was overly nice and it was refreshing.

2 RepliesIts the people who do the raid once or twice and expect to then find a elite team on LFG 😂😂 those people are quite easy to find and will never acknowledge that there elitists. (I swear people think elitist and vet are the same thing but i say there not) Elitist- a asshole who thinks there the best at something with little or no experience Vet- a person with knowledge and experience When people are asking for a quick run and or a team with high completions there a vet, if there looking for a short raid its understandable. When your gonna kick people for not doing something right the first or second time, or just leave after 1 or 2 tries, while they have less than 5 completions, there a elitist and are toxic. Sadly most of LFG is full of elitist assholes. If you still need help in the raid id suggest watching guides, then making a post with a title something along these lines, LW Fresh (level requirement here). If your trying to do the full raid the level requirements jump up like crazy, i believe riven is a 585 boss fight? Just let everyone know you have watched guides but have never done it, make sure you have plenty of time. Most people who join a post like that will have little experience. Just expect to wait a while, ive waited up to 30 mins to find a team.
-
5 RepliesI think watching a guide on youtube is more than enough to help you understand the raid the rest is up to your skill. I think you just want to get carried. Lazy and attention seeking players like you deserve to get kicked all the time.
-
I know mate, people never used to be this bad in D1, you're always best just leaving those games where people think they are the best, most experienced player's just because they have farmed the riven cp over 100 times, u usualy find thry die the most as well 😉

If you know you're not, joining groups asking for experience is stupid. Getting a group of noobs isn't hard if you specify you want noobs and are one yourself. If you have a shitty attitude and wont cooperate, you'll get kicked from every group no matter what. I get the sense you feel people are supposed to help you. That's wrong. If they do, it's because they want to. So be nice, polite and do what you're told.
-
Join or create a clan. Then you can set your own rules for the raid. The Raid School is a good one for no stress teaching/learning though I’m not sure how many spots they might have open.
-
Yeah I had a group where 4 of us only had a rough idea for Morgeth and Vault and we only wiped once the entire raid. The ones who knew explained it and were understanding if they had to twice. Worked well!
-
Play on Xbox we have a built in lfg app and there are plenty of players looking to help people
-
2 Replies
I try making a group, they still want experienced players.
That makes literally no sense. You're the one deciding who you add to the group. Just post "New to raid, looking for 5" and bam you'll get people. It's really not hard.

Edited by Teben: 11/22/2018 5:25:34 AMWho cares if they’re elitist. People can do what they want. Require what they want. If people only want to only invite guardians with vivid pink shaders they can. If they want to invite people who’ve done the raid blindfolded while getting a blowie they can. If you want to start a group with your own rules you can too. Suck it up. Not everyone needs to do what YOU want them to do. But the beauty is you have the same freedom to do whatever you feel like too

6 RepliesSo, as a non-raider I completed it once. I attempted it with a mix of clan and randoms. This was the results. Problem with randoms or "blueberries" is that fact that nobody listens. When someone tell you something. do not say "well in the video I watched" everyone handles shit differently you go with what the crew wants to do. An other solid problem is everyone expects a complete right off the bat. When I post for a raid I say newbies welcome, or newbie crew. Because everyone is normally learning in my group. 2 of my buddy and I know full well on how to handle the raid. All people need to do is bring the learning shoes and weapons we speak of. So that elitist attitude is also with the new people too. They think they should be carried or be baby'ed because their new. This to me is worst then any vet elitists. Favorite times are when someone talks shit and quits the group. Then an hour later they say they are sorry and they want back in. They just get a laughing face. Fun facts about trying the raid and your new and cant join a group Create your own, make the post truthful about being a newbie and also add looking for newbies. Put a light high restriction so you know they actually play the game and have the weapons. Everytime I do this I get atlease 1 or 2 vets that just wanna get some loot doesnt matter if they complete or not just like I.
-
One question. what do you message when you want to be invited?
-
2 RepliesTip: If the post says "please be experienced" then don't join. It's simple and doesn't take a scientist to figure out Tip 2: When making an LFG post try including that you're inexperienced. Congratulation! You have just learned LFG common sense.
-
5 RepliesYeah you're just bad at finding groups, tbh. You didn't put enough effort into finding like-minded (and experienced) people. I ran Last Wish with one of my friends last week. Never touched it before asides from watching videos to understand general strategy. I found 9+ people over the course of us fully completing it that understood the two of us were new and that either: A. The same applied to them OR B. Were willing to further explain sections as we went through them. I didn't go longer than 3-5 minutes when it came to finding someone to fill my sixth shot when I'd get a random leave the fireteam. You had bad luck. You just need to put more time into it, word your fireteam post well and be willing to kick people who can't grasp that you're new at this.
-
I’m going to return to LFG raiding have no choice at this point. I only use the100 for lfg I find people on there are much more willing to help others out.
-
3 Repliesits the reason why i still havent tried the raids in Destiny 2 unfortunaly, while i grinded them in Destiny 1. Matchmaking would be an option (also for Nightfall) but Bungie never listens to lone wolves.

1 ReplyLove the elite group shot caller that whenever they die its game physics or someone else's fault.
-
You are correct. 85% of raiders get 3 clears and think they’re elitist and will not except newbies, It’s ridiculous. Luckily there are people like me that do Sherpa runs 👍🏼
-
When i raid i don’t mind explaining things to people, but if i run into someone or even a group of people that can’t grasp extremely simple mechanics even when it’s explained multiple times, that’s when i find someone else. My advice: find someone willing to teach and pay very close attention, once you know the fight you know it, simple.

4 RepliesThe raid isn't even that hard yet some dudes act like they're about to storm a village in Afghanistan.
