I can barely keep my interest in D2's strikes anymore, the fun is just not there any more

I'd pay five dollars to fight rockets mc'dickface again, and I used to hate him.

Edited by Stryder: 11/20/2018 2:53:48 PMThere were more strikes at this point in D1 and they were far more interesting. Between dialogue and overall map design. And the gamble for strike specific loot too from the skeleton keys.
-
They have removed heroic strike modifiers and replaced them with weak ass boring strike modifiers instead. They have put constant barrage of cringeworthy dialogue littered with "jokes" in place of just a few phrases in old strikes. They have removed strike specific loot and guaranteed strike rewards in form of the chests that could be opened with skeleton keys. And eventually they felt too lazy and entitled to make strikes from scratch, so instead they started making them from story mission by adding more cringeworthy dialogue and more spawns. That's what happened.

3 RepliesHonestly? I think it's 'memberberries' syndrome. Nostalgia - maybe for the old maps, the old music, the way the game felt to you back then, etc? I had the same thought until I remembered 'Warden of Nothing' which is my new favorite strike. Why? Because we are lifted into the old PoE arena - which I squee'd so hard at when I first played it, I nearly wet myself... Ahem.... Anyway, I think it's nostalgia, plain and simple. When Destiny 3 (the search for more money) drops, you'll miss some staple D2 strikes the same way...

I want those Siva Strikes back, and I want essentially the old D1 strikes, especially the first one. There are a few good strikes in D2, thats why I am getting your drift, the last time I had fun was starting to go after the 1K Nightfalls, and that was so awesome. I feel those strikes got too easy, you basically kill the boss in 5 second, and move on. I remember doing D1 strikes, and they were always tough in some way, and also well scripted. I am not saying D2 has bad strikes overall, but some of them are not as good as you want them to be. I very much like Warden of Nothing and Pyramidion. Arms Dealer is very cool, and strange Terrain. But the first D1 strike, is the most amazing one, played it last week for fun, and it was amazing. Love the boss, and love the tank before the boss, there are so many stations before you fight the servitor.

It's not as bad as initial release of D2. They need to add a scoring system, they need to bring back old Modifiers and increase super regen. Bring back the chests with the skeleton key with specific loot.

5 RepliesEdited by Kanashimi510: 11/19/2018 7:40:04 PMThe design choices. For instance: Every boss is now in a 6x6 room with little to no cover. They also get to be invincible in stages while you bounce around the room trying to avoid adds. Part of the fun in d1 strikes was learning the terrain. Finding safe zones for specific times. Learning a routine over time to help you do it faster. The new bosses are simply bullet sponges with intermintant invonarability in a room full of adds and no cover. The only strategy now consists of sporadic jump/dodge/shoot. =not very fun.

It's just lack of loot to be honest. Doing same things over and over for same rewards gets old quick. This is suppose to be a shooter looter for Christ sake. I'm just waiting for borderlands 3 though. They always do it right. Except the pre-sequel I couldn't really get into it. Even the new gear is re-skinned non dlc weapons they just shove a forsaken symbol in front of it. It's not all re skins I know but there is a lot

2 RepliesWe lost a lot things that made strikes fun. 1. No more intro's to set the mood 2. No strike specific loot like the grasps of malok or the fallen saber Helmut. 3. No strike playlist rewards like ship's, shaders, or guns like the og hopscotch pilgrim. 4. We still are fighting a larger version of the same enemies we have been fighting since D1.

Edited by Legend of Jordy: 11/22/2018 3:21:59 AMI miss all the old strikes lol. Well, maybe not all of them, but I love all the TTK strikes!
-
3 RepliesHow hard they are. In d1 you had to actually fight to get through strikes and kill that boss, in d2 any competent group of players can burn a boss in less than 20 seconds
-
4 RepliesI can tell you why. Bungie became environmentally minded and applied the 3 R’s to all their content Reduce, reuse, recycle

Glad to see so many that agree, I agree, I use to come home everyday after work and jump on D1 for strikes and PoE for hours and hours, have a beer with my friends and even play the strikes drunk hhaha Now.. We get on for a milestone and then we are done, stay in party chat but different games because the fun is just not there anymore in D2
-
4 RepliesThey are too easy, most of people are not even playing them when they are doing them, they just skip everything and then the boss dies in 5 seconds.
-
Edited by Timewaster504: 11/21/2018 2:32:33 AMI just want a guaranteed legendary drop, that’s it, and more boss health, they did not tune the old strikes for the weapon changes, as a level 20 at 200 power I can solo any strike

It's because all the strikes are basically the same. D1 had unique and vibrant strikes, each one was very memorable I could confidently name every single one after 2 years of not touching the strikes. Also the Strike bosses we're fighting these days are pretty much nobodies. The only strikes that I actually remember are Inverted Spire, Warden of Nothing, and I want to say it's called...eh...i don't know actually...it's the one on Titan though with the team lost in the Arcology. Those ones all have unique stories and fairly unique bosses that I actually gave a damn about. I also think Strike intros helped set the mood and build up a bit of backstory, and let us know why we're killing the old hags. Plus you know...Valus Tupac...the most OG boss fight and dialogue, just bring it back Bungo, just do it.

I could play d1 strikes for hours on end....i resent doing 3 strikes in a row for my d2 milestone.
-
i loved to play strikes all day at warmind state, but now they are meh. to ez, no strike loot, no ships. at least those weird "i wanna feel powerfull" peeps, thinking they should rek evrything when using exo guns, are happy now... bungie please make strikes great again or GTFO.
-
Boss rooms are way too small with little to no cover. I miss the nexus and undying mind boss rooms.
-
1 ReplyPlayed strikes all the time in D1 (15000 last I looked!) Loved them for levelling, quests and just shooting bad guys. D2 strikes are quite dull, punishing and just lack a bit of something special....it all started with that awful RoI ogre one...you can just hear them round a table ‘yeah! Force them into a room with no cover, loads of ads, random undefeatable harassing additional bossette, no ammo...great job guys!! This weeks Nightfall?’ That’s D2 strikes....no Darkblade, Sepiks, Rockets McDick, Omnitits...or strikespecific, themed gear apart from interminably boring, grindy, Nighfall versions of the same stuff.

No more intro speeches.

8 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 11/20/2018 1:22:27 PM1. A broken progression system that makes it pretty much pointless to run strikes after you complete your weekly milestones. 2. Repetitive strike design. Pretty much every strike in Destiny 2 runs according to the same script....and ends in the same boss battle. Fighting a mobile boss in an inescapable box or open platform with minimal cover. So you're forced to run around and fight like a headless chicken. They keep repeating the formula of the Shield Brother's strike from The Taken King.....while not seeming to understand what it was about the design of that PARTICULAR fight that made it interesting. Namely adequate cover in the mini-boss fight against the tank.....and the ability to find safety in the absence of cover against the bosses, by controlling your distance from them. Whereas you have strikes now where you are playing a shooter where there is LITERALLY no effective cover. Someone at Bungie seems to think that getting shot from 360* and having to constantly run around makes for an "interesting" and "fun" experience. It doesn't. The Exodus Down boss fight was so bad and LITERALLY had no cover....that it had to be taken out of the game because it became unplayable once they tried to add modifiers to it.

Yup. I played the strike playlist for fun. I don't in D2
-
I guess I partially agree. I like the Xol and Noxis (spelling) strike bosses in D2. Most of the others in D2 haven’t been memorable. I do remember every strike from D1 fondly. I do agree that the modifiers and strike specific loot were better in D1. Good post.

1 ReplyYeah I could literally play the strike list all day in D1 I can barely squeeze out my 3 for a weekly lately
