Horror Story 600 Drop ruined the game for me and my friend
We recently started on PC. I didn't have the time to finish the Horror Story grind while my friend did.
That high level drop skyrocketed my friend from 520 power, where I was at the time, to 590 within 2 weeks while I'm only 540. He said it himself that it kind of ruined the experience for him because there's not much grind left to do and he doesn't even need to do the raids or anything now. To clarify, we haven't done the raid a single time or the Dungeon. He got to 590 through weekly/dailies alone in 2 weeks.
Pls Bungie think about these things going forward. That 600 drop wasn't necessary.
Edit since the drop was helpful for other people:
The drop should have been locked off by a hard mode version of the Haunted Forest or simply be purchasable only once you're 560 or something.

If you think the game is over when you get one character to 600, then you vastly missed the point.

1 ReplyThe 600 hundred drop would have only boosted him to probably around 530, the rest he would have had to grind for. Sounds like he played a lot more than you did to get up to 590

8 RepliesYour level is calculated based on the average of all your gear. If you were 520 and you added one piece of 600 gear that only raises you to 530. A big jump for one piece of gear of course but it's not like you're skipping months of progression.

I respectfully disagree. I loved the rush of having one weekend where I played for 12hrs each day and was able to jump 30 power. It affectively let me complete the throne and the first 2 encounters to the raid that before the FoTL I was not able to complete with my friends.

If you think that getting to 600 is the end of the game and u havent done shattered throne yet or the raid...just means your not ready to be in those end game activities. Just because your gear is 600 doesnt mean the is over, get the raid gear...dreaming city gear....if you dont do throne or raid then you wont get exotic weapons or the raid weapons that are by far better than the regular guns from forsaken. the horror story was a weapon basically for free for the noobs that werent 600 yet and it was a way for them to feel like their making progress with their 600 weapon. see actual players on here were 600 weeks before haunted forest came out so it wasnt a big deal that a 600 weapon was for sale at all. please stop complaining just cause your new to this game. it isnt for the new players. this game is tailored for the players that play this game almost every day.

Oh for crying out loud. If playing together at the same level is so important you should just make sure that either both or neither of you do this kind of event. Anyway, it’s not even a big deal. His motivation can just be to play with you and help [i]you[/i] level up until you’re both ready for whatever endgame content you want to play. He can wear a mask instead of a helmet if his level is too high. If seeing higher numbers on your loot is your only motivation to play, guess what: you don’t actually like the game that much. Which is fine! There are other games. Some of us don’t have a trillion hours per week to grind this game and really appreciate the boost from the 600 drop.

You level up faster by doing dreaming city events. I was 600 before horror story and I never did the raid. Just do half the dreaming city bounties first. Go do the other weekly powerful gear and prime engrams until most your other stuff bumps up. Then do the other 2 and do more of the weeklies/dailies/prime engrams.

It is normal thing that one piece 600 will drag you very fast to 600 overall due to the higher level powerfull engrams and prime drops. For me hitting 600 was game over. I play 4-5 hours after reset because of nostalgia, but practically I am bored AF and done.

I mean you coulda scrapped it. Hell I woulda for the cores. If grinding really was something of a feat I’d be talking differently, but ya didn’t miss much.

3 RepliesThat 600 light Auto Rifle was a right step-up for others though. Honestly, you could just run for Powerful Gear drops and end up in the same situation without ever having to run Last Wish or Shattered Throne.
