How to Use Tempest Strike (Arcstrider Uppercut) - I Finally Figured It Out

Link to Video - https://youtu.be/fWQbpAdJe7M I initially gave up on this ability, but after sitting down and thinking really hard about it, I finally figured it out. Just by looking at the skill tree, I noticed that 3 out of its 4 perks focus on its melee. Naturally, this means that this class is designed to be played aggressively. In order to find success with the uppercut move, you need to always remember the following: Your shotgun should always remain as the main driver for your aggressive play. Tempest Strike is simply there to ENHANCE it. When sliding around a corner, be prepared to fire your shotgun if the opponent is very close. If your opponent is further away, activate Tempest Strike by pressing melee, and finish him off with your primary weapon or shotgun. Do not use Tempest Strike as a tool to replace your shotgun, because it has lower damage output and leaves your vulnerable in the air. It is currently a shotgun meta, thus most likely your opponent will be holding a shotgun. **MAKE SURE TO PICK GAMBLER’S DODGE** If your melee isn’t up yet, get close to your opponent, use the dodge ability to get your melee back, and then slide and activate Tempest Strike to hurt your opponent. I found that this combination of moves can really throw off your opponents aim and confuse them. It is a very risky move however, and works much better on PC since you can slide and do 180 degree turns with ease. **WHICH WEAPON SHOULD I USE?** A shotgun should be your first choice. Since the Tempest Strike leaves you vulnerable in the air, you would want to use the ability when there is a little bit of distance between you in your opponent. If your opponent has closed the gap really quickly on you, then don’t activate Tempest Strike, but fire your shotgun instead. If you don’t feel like using a shotgun, then a sidearm can work as well. They release high amounts of damage per burst so it’s easy to finish off the kill after activating Tempest Strike. I would put SMG’s in last place. They can work, but they are not as optimal to use as a finisher due to their lower damage output and handling. **SHOULD I USE IMPACT MODS?** Definitely. I try to run two at minimum. This is a class designed for aggressive players. You need the melee up as often as possible. **EBB AND FLOW** I’m still trying to find a good use of this ability in PvP but no luck so far. I did find that when you hit your opponent with an arc ability, all your abilities charge slightly. Overall though, the perk has been extremely successful for me in PvE (especially gambit.) **FINAL NOTE** Should charge can kill you in one hit. Handheld supernova can kill you in one hit. Everyone in the crucible is running around with a shotgun. Titans are skating at Mach 5. Hunters are running around invisible. This is why I say the shotgun should be the primary driver of your aggressive play. Slide around the corner, and pull the trigger if your opponent is close. If he’s far, then press the melee button instead to activate Tempest Strike. Tempest Strike is also really good in PvE. Seriously, go try it out. Good luck. ~ Special K Dude
