So, the infinite forest I where the Vex simulate all the possible outcomes on different timelines and realities. So, if we destroyed it, would the Vex consumed planets not be Vex consumed?
See this: If we destroy the Infinite Forest, from that moment on all of the Vex simulations will end, creating a disruption on the network. See, the Infinite Forest is always working, simulating everything. If we stopped the simulations, the Vex wouldn’t gather more data, rendering their ability to try to predict the future useless. As so, you might say: “but they have been gathering data for a long time!”. But you see, you still go to the past simulation to kill the Root Mind, who was transforming Mercury. Even though that might slow their progress, they can simply rebuild the simulation. If we end the simulation permanently, they cannot predict that anymore, and in theory reversing Mercury’s, Nessus’ and other planets’ corruption. Because the past, the present and the future are interlinked, obviously. An action in the past changes the present and an action in the present changes the future. But in this case an action in the future changes the past, as the past is actually moving in an different reality, a reality where the Vex Have just arrived on Sol, on one that they just started corrupting Mercury and one that they just finished corrupting Mercury. If we stop their ability of controlling that and being able to predict outcomes trough the simulations, they might return to ground zero, rendering them vulnerable.
Now, did you understand any of this? Really, I don’t even know if I did, but it makes some sense...

There is no Infinite Forest. Then you will see that it is not the Infinite Forest that bends, it is yourself

I’m pretty sure they can still simulate the future without the infinite forest, the forest is just a super powerful simulator to help them reach their end goal.

2 RepliesIf we destroyed the infinite forest it would not stop the Vex but it would make them less effective in battle. The point of the forest is to simulate the path to victory (Turing everything into binary) destroying it would only prevent them from discovering the path not prevent them from trying.

3 RepliesWhat if we never left the infinite forest?

3 RepliesEdited by SancusXenon: 11/8/2018 4:57:47 AMYou really think Mercury is the only planet sized computer/reality simulation engine they have? Hell no. They've done what they did to mercury to countless other planets. You really think the Vex of all things are going to build only one of those things?

4 RepliesIt's not the brain child. No. Vex being in someplace too won't stop the installations elsewhere. Keep eradicating them.

2 RepliesI’m not sure if you remember this, but in D1 there was a grimoire card that basically said each vex unit is capable of simulating a few dozen versions of the present at once.
