After its buff Malfeasance is still a garbage choice for your exotic slot.
garbage in the sense that they are far better choices for that precious exotic slot if you have them, such as 1000 Voices, 2 Tailed Fox, Whisper of the Worm, the Ace of Spades etc
Im not going to talk about Malfeasance in regards to the Crucible, Im going to talk about it in regards to the game mode Gambit, the mode it was made for. Its Taken Predator exotic perk is far too niche. As you only benefit from it when you are invaded or when the Taken blockers/Primeval shows up.
Generally speaking the bonus damage against enemy invaders is nullified by the weapons base stats. Its handling is well below average (unless you compare it to the 110 RPM HCs) making it a poor choice for PvP.
Invaders spawn away from the current horde spawn point so on account of the Malfeasances average range stat, you have to close the distance to utilize it effectively. More often than not the invader will be using a ranged powerful weapon like Linear Fusion rifle or a sniper rifle which leaves Malfeasance at a distinct disadvantage the majority of the time against invaders.
And against Blockers or the Primeval high DPS weapons such as the Ikelos shotty do just a good of a job, if not better than Malfeasance of wrecking enemies quickly.
I use the Ace of Spades 90% of the time, even in Gambit. As because of outlaw and firefly it mops up red bar trash mobs. And when you invade, the Ace of Spades is still capable of dishing out extra damage with Memento Mori and it handles far better in PvP with added range. Once you go through the invasion portal, Malfeasances bonus damage against Guardian ends.
Personally speaking its only when the Primeval shows up that I will swap to Malfeasance. The weapon still needs something extra to make it a good choice for your exotic slot the bulk of the time.
A few suggestions to improve it slightly would be:
-Firstly buff its handling to match that of Trusts
which is slightly higher and is also a 180 RPM HC
-Secondly give it bonus damage against enemy Guardians in Gambit 100% of the time invaded or invader.
-And finally, against Taken enemies buff Explosive Shadow to create an explosion that matches that of Firefly. Explosive Shadow does have a tiny blast radius but currently enemies must be on top of each other for it to actually hurt another target.
Doing this would at least make it a more competitive option for your exotic slot in Gambit.
Side note: aesthetically the weapon looks absolutely dope
2 RepliesI used it in strikes and gambit...it does great against any add ...way better than ace of spades. So i think it is just based on personal likes and dislikes. Ace of spades seems to shoot lots of ghost bullets for me. And malfeasance does very good primeval damage . Also..i have had multiple invaders spawn WITH the adds.
