A huge part of D1 for me personally was grinding for faction loot. Ships, shaders etc. It just saddens me that there is absolutely NO option for this in D2. All I see on the forums are threads relating to exotic drops and “buff/nerf this”.
The Crucible vendor loot grind as well. Sure, the game has made some decent improvements but they literally took away a lot of “simple” things that made me log on every day.
Maybe it’s just me? Sometimes I load up D1, sit back and just identify all of the great things they removed/didn’t implement in D2.
Don’t get me wrong.... I do think some of the additions to D2 gameplay are great and I really notice when I play D1. Mantle, dodge to reload are a couple of examples. I am more so speaking about the lack of personal investment (for me anyway).
I just wish I actually seen more voice regarding what I feel ACTUALLY used to matter and make people want to log on and “grind”. Yes, there are a lot of other things aside from factions & crucible inventory/loot grind.
Surely it can’t be that complicated to add a few weapons, armor, ships and shaders can it? Implement a decent “grind” to obtain the items (not just locked to lost sectors). Maybe refresh the items quarterly?
I just genuinely miss those aspects of the game :/

That's not true we complain about factions all the time. It's just without faction rallies (or even map markers now) people have said everything there is to say about them.

Edited by Popwatts: 11/10/2018 3:34:18 AMD2 factions have been total crap. They need to re-vamp the entire thing. I agree, I personally really liked the faction grind in D1, and when I finally got my rank 50 NM bond I wore it nonstop!
-
1 ReplyBecause in D2 Y1 fractions were a mess with just grinding the same activity (normally the same lost sector again and again for hours on end). Bungie were right to remove them for a full rework. When they are ready to show the new fraction rallies they will tell us. Keep a eye on the weekly newsletter (TWaB).

I definitely miss the Factions, but I do NOT miss the way they were presented in D2. Faction Rallies were dull to begin with, and by the time we rolled around to Bungie forcing all three of our Guardians into one Faction everything that could be considered special about aligning our Guardians with Factions drained out of the game entirely. I have no idea why they felt the need to change the system that was in place in D1. You know, the one that was working just fine?

Edited by Corrick II: 11/9/2018 3:25:43 PMIt takes time to make content that isn’t just another reskin. I’d love it if we could grind for new Faction gear and ships but it’s not something I think about much because Bungie has turned Factions into an event type activity, instead of being always on and always something you could grind for. For some reason Destiny 2 just feels really light on this kind of content. Before, we had Faction and Vanguard vendor gear, now it’s just nothing.

7 RepliesIt's because FWC won and the other factions are dead. FWC 4 LIFE

We've all talked about them. But it takes an act of Congress for Bungie to make Factions meaningful.. Theres so kuch we could do with them, but we dont. I understand resources are limited. Just sayin.
-
So, are factions just dead at this point in D2? Been back since about two weeks into forsaken and no rallies, can’t talk to faction vendors and I’d really like to grind out faction loot/shaders/emblems. Was definitely one of the more appealing systems if D1

Edited by Calliibrations: 11/8/2018 9:57:11 PMFaction rallies were dumb, the D1 factions system was better imo. I'd rather have permanent factions with the monthly events, perhaps even quest lines for each faction. In the old Star Wars Galaxies there were exclusive quests depending on whether you were Rebel or Imperial with unique rewards. Like you had to be Imperial to get the Eta-2 Interceptor ship from a quest from Darth Vader, and only Rebels could get the ARC-170 ship. Stuff like that would just be cool i think. (Also the Clone Trooper Armour questline awarded a differently coloured set depending on faction too)

So long as we can get updated year 1 armor, weapons, shaders, and such along with new armor, weapons, shaders, and such...I'm game

1 ReplyEdited by ravenvelvet: 11/8/2018 8:59:19 PMI have to agree. The faction system in D1 was much of what kept me playing. Especially with the randomised weekly rolls on the weapons. Although nothing came close to Dead Orbits Hung Jury. Oh, and the exotic class item quests. It sucks that they didn't keep that up. Also, if you hang around Shaxx and Arcite long enough, you can hear Arcite talk about the smell of a freshly cracked ammo synth. The bastard. Edit for fat thumbs and typos.

factions aren't happening till 2019 just like Trials

I liked most of the faction specific gear in D1. Really wish they would do the same for D2.

Edited by Mace-4k: 11/8/2018 10:51:18 PMI hope the next time Factions become a thing that yield loot and rewards again all their armor sets and weapons become highly unique. Last time was pretty good already, but those armor sets or weapons were still just kind of super ornate or altered pre-existing models and sets. Having stuff that cannot be acquired from any other source than particular factions AND which looks like nothing else in the game would probably a big asset and beneficial factor for Factions.
-
Because that is way to much work for bungie, doing something from the previous game that people liked doing? Nah.. why would they put that in game? So much potential could come from putting factions back in the game, to bad it will never happen... because it was fun
-
1 ReplyBecause faction turn ins rewarded armor that was an upgrade in light /power and was farmable
-
I remember getting the vanquisher from New monarchy or people grinding for those special faction ships.
-
Bungie doesn’t want you to play hard for 2 months and never return. They want you to keep coming back every month for a rally to boost their activity numbers. They aren’t thinking of the player but rather the numbers and money they could squeeze out of you when they drop new cosmetics. Bungie is a sad company to play for. D2 is trash.
-
Because the rallies ruined the factions. People can’t talk about them separately because Bungie took regular faction things away and gave us horrible rallies instead.
-
1 ReplyYES! GIVE ME BACK MY EXOTIC CLOAKS! I liked feeling like I was 'championing' the faction all the time. I would always check the armour sets and then always have one char as each faction at all times <3
-
They're going to sell it back to us. Like the rest of Destiny 1. And Trials of The Nine. Hiatus my ass. Just want to bring players back when the numbers fall too low.
-
This is exactly one of the things I would love them to do. Thank you for that post. Every time I am using the app to check on some vendors I see the Dark Orbit Vendor and think, why is he just standing there unused. I love going weekly to Benedict and spend my tokens, exclusive Faction Vendors just standing around is just a bad tease at this point. I love when Iron Banner always returns and there is some life in the tower. Hope they continue with the Vendors in Black Armory.

Edited by ClothingOptionaI: 11/9/2018 3:51:57 AMAh yes, I remember ranking up with Dead Orbit in order to purchase a gun known as the Hung Jury. It was also the first primary I made 320 back when it was a b-tch to get 320 weapons to drop.

2 RepliesBecause they chose to make rallies, people hated it, they took it out, and full time factions would be plainly just too much work to them. Ifbthey ever bring back full factions it'll be behind another overpriced expansion.
