Not Being Able To Join A Faction Is Unfathomable

Hey I know the title of this post is pretty out there but I think it's well meant. My names Jake and I've been playing Destiny since the beta for Destiny 1 launched. See here on my original Xbox account https://puu.sh/BXeFP/d5fa507da1.png I recently heard word from a friend that Destiny 2 is free for the time being, and having next to nothing to do I decided to relive the nostalgia of the first. Truly, I love this game, I think its a really good time. It brings back memories of bringing my shitty xbox360 on a vacation to play the beta, and other stuff from my childhood ya know? I got my friends online to play D2 last night and about 3 missions till the end of the story we started chatting up how cool the factions were gonna be now and how we couldn't wait to upgrade our Sunshot, get the faction shaders, weapons, etc. But each mission went on and we still didn't see anything about the factions. Once we finished the story around 40min later, we were in the tower and were frantically looking for them, only to find that YOU LITERALLY CANT EVEN TALK TO THEM. It makes NO. SENSE. NONE! Why on Gods green earth do we have to sit around and twiddle our thumbs just to wait for the 3 factions to piss each other off enough to the point where they fight for a single week each season? The whole point of them in D1 was to give the player a little bit of a reward for grinding. Wtf else are we supposed to grind? Freakin Hawthorn is a borderline copy of Preston Garvey from Fallout 4. I don't want to grind that lmao. Grinding for a chance to get the faction shaders and weapons was a huge chunk of the pre DLC for D1, and it was incredibly successful and brought the community together! Why ""fix"" something that isn't broke? The best part of the game way back when was grinding out faction levels just to show off in crucible and raids! (I assume I wasn't the only one, considering I was grinding out faction rep with everyone at my school at the time.) Correct me if i'm wrong ofc. Apart from that B̲ ̲U̲ ̲L̲ ̲L̲ ̲S̲ ̲H̲ ̲I̲ ̲T̲, I actually had a really good time playing Destiny 2. It's a great nostalgia trip and throwback to my childhood. Head shots still feel incredibly empowering, when you see an engram drop you get excited, the story was actually really good and I enjoyed it a lot, the game is massive, there is a lot to do, pvp is fun, and the clan-tag "SWAG" wasn't taken. It's a phenomenal game with just loads of potential. I'd like to see it stay alive for a while. I know this was kind of a rant but like I said i'm just genuinely confused on why factions are the way that they are. If someone knows i'd be more than happy to listen so I can re-evaluate my post. ima keep bumping till something happens
