I‘ve had the same idea, but it didn’t work for my triumph I still don’t have it. I have the single triumphs for each week and opened the 6 chests in shattered throne.
What’s weird is that the counter of week 2 chests seems bugged for my triumph. I thought it resets each week when the corresponding week starts again. But week two doesn’t seem to reset.
At the moment I have these numbers:
Week 1: 10 chests
Week 2: 33 chests
Week 3: 20 chests
I don’t know how week 2 counts 33 chests. The first time it was week two I only played with my Titan and opened all 10. This week it’s the second time and I opened all 10 with my Titan and Hunter.
Also a friend didn’t receive the triumph like me. We‘ve had the same chests each week. This week he got the triumph. I didn’t.
Makes no sense to me 😄
Maybe the Titan class is bugged?? I‘ll try it this week with my hunter. I’m only missing the week 3 and shattered throne chests with the hunter. Friend that received the triumph this week was a hunter as well.
Hope bungie fixes it soon

How about your friend, any chance you could ask to see what their progression shows? Based on previous reports on Reddit, you don't need the shattered throne chests for this Triumph. Edit: Just to clarify, my idea is that the Fastidious Miser triumph only proc's only when each set is at 10/10. Hence when any set shows over 20, it bugs the triumph out. P.S. I also completed them all on my Titan, I'd be hesitant to think it's because we used Titan (haven't seen an issue connected to a particular class before). I do think claiming chests on multiple characters/classes may be what causes the chests to go above 10 though (although I'm not sure how you got 33 on one week, did you collect on multiple characters multiple times that week?)

What do you mean with post patch? Last weeks patch? If I remember correctly, weeks 1 and 3 reset to 0/10 when the corresponding week started again in my app. Only week 2 never reset. it keeps counting. I‘ll check today’s weekly reset what my number for week 3 chests will be. Got a screenshot of my friends chest count. And indeed he has 10/10 for all the three weeks, unlike my weird counter. ???????????

Can you check whether ascendant chests in the shattered throne increase the counter for week 3? If your friend collected any of those chests last time we had a week 3 then that we know it shouldn't at least. The implication if it does increase the counter would be that anyone who collected both the weekly set and shattered throne set would be bugged out if the triumph. Still holding strong on my conclusion that collecting any additional chests outside of a single character will bug the triumph, similar but not exactly like the bug with the egg sparrow.

The ascendant chests in the city have golden glimmer inside, the ones in the shattered throne have the standard blue glimmer. Also you don’t need to be ascendant to collect those in the throne. For the ones in the city you need to be ascendant. And I can confirm they weren’t counted at least not in my app. For week 3 I got 20 and I did collect both 10 with my titan and hunter in the city. I only opened the 6 of the throne with my Titan so it should say 26. But it’s 20

Gotcha, good to know. Woulda been a dumb way for many to get bugged but it seems that wasn't a factor. Someone who posted proof of the triumph said they never touched the dungeons Ascendant Chests so that pretty much confirms they aren't relevant to these Triumphs.

Exactly, since the patch that updated exotic drops that occurred at the end of the week 2 curse rotation. I collected the set that week and noticed that since the patch occurred before the actual reset, that it saved that weeks chest collection. I was wondering if that timing may have caused a glitch itself.

I'm starting to conclude that collecting more than a full set (i.e. even collecting one extra on a different character) may cause the bug where you have greater than 10 chests per week and thus but out the Triumph permanently until it's patched (assuming we can get enough attention)

Is it the same for you that it is just week 2 that won’t reset? So since my week 2 counter seems to be bugged because reasons I can’t complete the triumph until bungie fixes it? Great 😄😄😄😄😄😄 Maybe you’re right and the counter bugged because of the patch. Maybe since the patch is live, the next time week 2 starts the counter will finally reset and we will be able to get this triumph.

Week 2 was resetting the weeks before the patch. But the last week 2 we had was on the week where they implemented the patch. Since the patch actually occurred before reset during the maintenance window, whatever amount was collected that particular week would stay tracked. However, what I think bugs out the actual Triumph is having collected more than one set of chests in any week, thus having a counter above 10. So if I collected all three sets on my Titan, but collected one extra last week on my Hunter, it would bug out the Triumph. That's my current conclusion. It may have more to do with that week 2 reset timing, but it's hard to test that now.

If that’s the case or what bugs the triumph, I don’t get why I didn’t receive it after the first three weeks. Because at that time my Titan was the only character I played. I opened all 30 chests and didn’t get the triumph. The only ones I missed were the ones from the throne. I will try it this week with my hunter again. If it doesn’t work I will try it with one character only from week one to three. But that would only help if the counter for week 2 resets correctly what it didn’t do so far :/ Edit: My friend told me he only opened them with one Charakter (hunter) and not with other characters. So starting this week (3) I will only open them with my Titan and hope the counter for week 2 will reset properly But I don’t understand why I didn’t unlock after the first three weeks where I did exactly that with my Titan only

When the patch fixing the Ascendant Chests progression was fixed, progression for all chests collected that week and the following weeks were saved. 2. The Triumph completes when exactly 10 chests are collected for each weekly set. 3. You can collect over 10 chests when you collect one set on a character followed by any chests on any other characters 4. Because some players have done #3, the Triumph is unable to be unlocked because the weekly chests progression no longer resets. Attaining a value if 10 chests for each set is no longer possible. That's my current theory. That is to say, we're screwed until Bungie fixes it...

Since the weekly reset, nothing changed. The app still has the same chest counts as before, nothing did reset or change in any way. So I have to wait for bungie to fix this bug. Great Are they already aware of this issue?

A few of us on Reddit tried mentioning dmg and cozmo but no replies. Who knows when this'll get fixed. If we're lucky they'll do a sweep through of all the bugged Dreaming City Triumphs for a patch in December. Otherwise, in my opinion, it may not be touched for months.
