Hey y'all, I got my Luna's the other day after 74 comp games and playing 90% of them solo. I've gathered a collection of tips along the way that might hopefully help other solos.
1. Play mostly solo - As counter-intuitive as that may sound, I've found most success playing on my own. The games that I DID play with my full fireteam of friends, they were either losses or sweatfests against duos or solos. Which brings me to my next point
2. Don't queue dodge - A lot of players don't realize this but since near the end of season 3 when it's a bunch of randoms vs a 4x fireteam, the solos are pulled from a pool of higher skilled players. I've had some of my easiest games against fireteams. Don't let 4 stacks intimidate you.
3. Play the meta and play to win - Use the best weapons and use them accordingly depending on the map.
4. Limit yourself to 2-3 losses per day- Stop playing comp after you accumulate 2-3 losses (either in a row or scattered). It preserves your points and keeps you from getting tilted and demoralized, which would make you play worse. There are plenty of other things to do in the game now to past the time until the next day.
That's all I can think of currently. If you guys have any questions, I'd be glad to answer them.

1 ReplyCRUCIBLE STARTS YOU OUT LOOOOOOOOOSING......ALWAYS.......SOOOOO 2-3 LOSSES USUALLY STARTS OFF MY DAY OUT THERE.....I DONT BOUNTY.....ITS JUST PLAYING WHILE NERFED IMO.....NOT REALLY THAT MUCH FUN....GO AROUND GATHERING GUNS ARMOR AND POWER TO BE MUFFLED BY DARES.....EEEH. DARES ARE COOL BEFORE THE GEAR.....NOT AFTER......KILLS THE POINT OF GRINDING FOR IT. THAT BEING SAID IF HAVING THE ITEM DOES'NT MAKE ME A SUPER HERO.....I SHOULD'NT HAVE TO BE A SUPER HERO TO GET IT...

1 Replyi'm only at 1830 solo, but here is another tip: Warm up. Warm. The. -blam!-. UP. I'v found out that the first 2 or 3 matches of the day I play like crap. Go to Rumble, play a couple of matches. Once you notice you are in the zone, hit competitive. Works wonders for me.

Word. Solid, level headed advice. Thanks man and good luck with Not Forgotten lol

Don't play the trash ass shit.... Problem solved.

Edited by zJDz: 11/6/2018 3:15:17 PMGetting the 2100 was the easy part. I hit that before I finished the quest. The 100 hand cannon headshots was the hard part when I was around 2500 glory and all the enemies were using Luna’s. Trust with explosive rounds really helped though. Also duke was a good clean up headshot kill.

6 RepliesMy main problem is almost every match there is some inactive player JUST STANDING THERE!!!! Hey dummy!!! This match counts you nimrod. It never fails. Some idiot is just standing there

I’m starting the Luna’s and there’s good info in here that helps a lot. But I just don’t know how you guys do it solo. If I even do my best my teammates just stand and spin in circles and for some reason I’m the one that gets t-bagged for trying to win. I may just pass on all this frustration doesn’t actually motivate me to play the game

Good looking out homes

Good points.

1 ReplyI lost 3 years of my life grinding it solo... so stressful playing with blueberries

Me too, I solo cued to fabled but then got knocked back down to 1700. I got my lunas but for some reason, all my games are just really laggy now. I can't break past 1700 again which is dumb because I go from getting 20 kills and not dying to getting a 0.3 kd from game to game. I read you post and it inspired me to go back in and grind luna kills. I actually just went up against 2 four stacks, they were using nothing but Telesto. In between those games, there was a lobby full of solo's but the other team all had Telesto and lunas, one of my teammates was using a blue assault rifle and some blue armour the others were using year one pulses and shotties. I probably could have carried my team if the enemies actually took damage during these encounters but I guess 5 crits with a lunas doesn't work for me. I'm glad you had a good time grinding to Fabled but I didn't and I don't think the majority will either. the dumb matching system doesn't work in the favour of solo cues. Just because you got good luck with your matches doesn't mean other people will.

2 RepliesEdited by STRAATI3N: 11/5/2018 2:13:34 AMPvP is toxic now adays. You go into competative and find that you're constanly being put in 3v4 matches game, after game, after game (either because they dropped while in orbit or in game). You think to yourself, "I just need to straighten up and play better. I can do this. One player doesn't equate to an automatic loss". So then you play another match and you find that the players skill in no way, shape, or form, matches their rank. You go up against people who are rocking high kills and scary high K:D rtatios. You then ask yourself, "how the f**k did the matchmaking system put us together? That guy was miles ahead of me when it comes to skill". So then you tell yourself to walk away and go play some quickplay instead and work towards that Redrix. So you go into quickplay and find yourself going against abosulte beasts of players rocking Lunas Howl and Not Forgotten (idk if that's the right name) resulting in a game where you are absoultely wrecked. Quickplay is becoming more sweaty than competative because people are getting their Lunas and then running back to quickplay where they usually end up kicking everyones ass. They're not impossable to kill by any means, but the power of that gun is so far ahead of yours that you end up losing the majority of encounters. Before everyone had the gun, competative wasn't horrible, but it was at least playable. Now you go into competative and the level of skill in players to so far ahead of thier rank you immedaitly call bull****. There are posts up of people literally advertising "Paid carries for Lunas". I have been wondering if the matchmaking system considers rank resets when matching players because either they don't, and I am being put with players who are at "Brave" for their second time, or the amount of people investing is paid carries is going up.

This advice is no longer valid. Thanks to free Destiny 2 the player pool is now 50% players with 100 LL and level 10 playing Competitive. Play with a fireteam, or don't play at all. Playing with a fireteam means you now will likely play teams with about 2 new players who will run straight at you with a shotgun while ignoring strategy and objectives.

2 RepliesI have some better tips after getting to fabled quickly and all solo. 1) Que up comp and play the game. Alright thanks for reading what I have to say and have a good day.

Edited by Five Nights at Diddys: 11/5/2018 6:56:59 PMI soloed to Luna the whole way. 5. Play you life. If your team is wiped out in a respawn mode and you are in a forward position fall back to your team. Going for a pick can be enticing but odds are you are already being flanked by one or more. Fall back and regroup to try again. Your team can't win if you're going kamikazee or going negative. Your super will charge while you run back to your team as well. 6. Keep your sights at head level. I see alot of players running with thier head looking down. Head level means faster engaging and a much higher chance of getting the first crit leading to 1v1 victories. 7. Loses happen. Sometimes 5 or more in a row. Take a break. Streaks go both ways and points can be made up quickly.
-
Another tip. You lose skill and patience after about 2-3 hours of gameplay cuz of your brain getting tired. So always play the pvp first off and dont be afraid to stop for the day even if you're close to the end.
-
I’m not a strong pvper, but if I were to give tips they would be the same as yours.
-
2 RepliesThese are definitely good tips. They are all pretty much the mindset I had doing it 100% solo too. Especially number 4. I think a lot of people have problems knowing when enough is enough.
-
If you do go into a team make sure they have similar glory to you. When I played with higher point players I did trash and when I was with lower players they did trash.

1 ReplyEdited by ETERNAL: 11/5/2018 3:04:11 AMThe first person to post something contrary to the repetitive "why am I playing solo against stacks" mantra. This guy has it exactly right and I think it very unfortunate. Bungie introduced this system because of all the solos from season 3 complaining about stacks. Now playing with a group of friends is tedious. In season 3 if you played with a group you had the obvious advantage of communication and no disadvantages cooked into the MM. As such, you could often pull off a win. In season 4 it is easier to solo queue which is a shame. I still had lots of fun games as a solo comp player on my way to Luna, but I would have rather played those games in a stack. My two cents.

I had a very painful bowel movement yesterday

4. Truly is key. Gained 130 glory last night over solo and once I started off setting in losses I stopped playing comp. The one thing that kills playing comp solo is teammates who don't know what to do and have 0 place in the gamemode frankly. Every single loss last night was avoidable but I had teammates with 0 common sense, 0 critical thinking skills, couldn't aim (dude couldn't even hit people with shoulder charge when they had their back turned), etc. If I go into comp solo I expect all of my teammates to have the same stats as me or better to avoid this BS. Same goes for the enemy team. In terms of player skill level it should be an even playing field which its very clearly not in many games. However I personally have no issue with solo vs stacks in comp. If you go in solo, you know what you're getting yourself into. Hell, 3 of my wins last night were against stacked teams, one of which we beat 6-0. And to think 2 guys on that team went flawless a few times. Anyways excuse my little rant lol.

1 ReplyI just repeatedly slammed my head into a wall.
i lost several of my brain cells and probably legally -blam!-, but I got the gun so whatever
