This goes for most games, RPGs, Destiny, Monster Hunter, etc. etc. When you pick a final armour set in games, when you're high level and can choose what you like, do you stick to the full sets of something or do you try to make something up yourself?
I tend to wear full sets since most of the time in games, the NPCs do the same and I like my character to feel like they belong in the game world. The exception to this - and one of my favourite games for it - was Halo Reach, since it didn't really have 'sets', just armour pieces that sometimes shared names and in-universe functions, and Noble Team wore mis-matched pieces based on their roles in the squad and it really felt like it encouraged trying out your own thing to match the kind of Spartan you wanted 6 to be.
I'll see if I can make this a poll later, but I also wanted to discuss, too.

Mix and match, only if they look nice together, else I'll just use a set

Mix. Whatever the D1 y1 warlock helmet is cause it's the only warlock helmet that doesn't look like ass. Iron banner chest since it's the only semi decent looking armoured chest. Although id trade that stupid belt for some ammo pouches and those goofy shoulder pads for some standard rounded ones any day. Exotic gloves that steal life and crucible books cause again they look good.

I like to mix. Makes my character look unique.
-
Whatever looks cooler.
-
I try to full set, unless a mix and match for perks that actually work together looks good together.
-
i per fer matching sets
-
Fashion >>>> function. Whether that’s mixed or matched I don’t care but I have to look good first. I don’t care what the stats are if it’s ugly.
-
2 RepliesI like to mix match my armor to make my characters look like no one else's. For example, in Halo 5 I used the Mark 6 helmet with the Soldier chestpiece to capture the feel of like the old RvB people before their armor got bulky. Or in Destiny 2 with my Year 1 Titan. Plus, I like to make my characters look Orange and Green. How many people do you think wear those colors on their armor in games lol
-
Stats get priority But if armor is cosmetic I wear whatever. I might mix n match or go full set
-
I’ll only wear mixed if the armor pieces don’t look too different.
-
Honestly it depends if there are bonuses for wearing whole sets sure if not I don’t care if the armor I got on is the best I currently have

2 RepliesEdited by ALIAS-F4LS: 11/2/2018 2:32:45 PMDepends on set bonuses. An example, is the Nergigante armor set bonus (Monster Hunter World) where one can gain life by dishing out consistent damage. It essentially changes they way I play from hit and run, to a more berserker like style because it rewards me for being aggressive. I guess what I like is sets when they change up one's playstyle, letting someone learn a new way to approach combat.

1 ReplyEdited by What I Look Like: 11/2/2018 5:51:44 PMI try to play games that let you do both, like Diablo 3. Can use whatever set I want and transmog the fck out of it to look the way I want. The perfect middle ground. In D2 I'm wearing the Reverie Dawn set for NOW. Soon I'll grind for my real armor, I know I want that Baron chest piece.

2 RepliesUnless the armor can either be covered over by (better) cosmetics or offers stats too good to ignore, I’ll just mix and max to either look fancy or have one piece of armor cover the weaknesses of another.
-
3 RepliesOf course, it depends, but I’ll usually mix ‘n match. After all; “We are born by fashion. Made men by fashion. Undone by fashion. Fear the wrong style. By the gods, Laurence, fear it..” Fashionmaster Willem, old man never goes out of style

1 ReplyLooking good is always more important than stats.
-
I only wear full sets if it looks good. If not, I just get the pieces with the best rating.

Mix and match for aesthetics every time. I think it makes characters look more unique and badass.
-
depends on the look i'm going for
-
Most of the time I wear full sets.
-
If there’s set bonuses that overrides any cosmetic appeal mix n match may have but I usually mix it up a bit.
-
Still leveling. I'll think about what armour set I'll use once I get to LL 600. I play solo.
-
Depends if you get a armor set bonus. In assassins odyssey if you have all armor pieces you get bonus. I match everything depending on my play style. But if it’s like destiny than I go for whatever makes my character look good.
