General Destiny 2: Forsaken Feedback

As mentioned in the TWAB today, we are going to be making some feedback threads to help us track the community’s thoughts on the current state of the game, and what direction you want to see it move in. This first one is a wildcard. Tell us… whatever you want. Here are a few prompts, but feel free to write whatever. We will be back soon for some more targeted discussions. What have you liked most about Destiny 2 post Forsaken? What would you like to see changed in the future? What would you like to see added?

    Cheers for the opportunity to provide feedback! What I liked: It feels like I can spend more time in destiny now! Thank you! I really like dungeons, more challenging content with 3 guardians or less is awesome! Makes it easier to find a fireteam and enjoy the content. Areas for improvement: Being solo trying to get lunas doesn't seem fair. 4 randoms up against stacked teams. We lose a player due to connection or them leaving when they see a 4 stack. I'd like to see a glory rank for solo players e.g. glory rank rumble playlist or someway that values solo competitive players. It feels like the game seems to reward teams of sweaty players (sometimes toxic ones) rather than friendly chilled guaridans that are still pretty good at the game. I'd like to see more cool rewards for solos and match-made teams. I'd like to see the new updates, like the new perks added, kept on old stuff. I want to wear some cool gear that I got ages ago and some guardian be like, "that looks so cool dude". I spotted a guardian wearing that crucible gear, the titan chest amour with feathers, it looked so sick but had no extra perks. I'd like to see more vanguard and crucible loot. And, for vanguard and crucible to sell different random rolls of those weapons and amour each week. I'd like to see more challenging quests or mini raids for solo or match-made guardians in pve. And, seriously cool loot to go with it. So you can be like, "yo, that guaridan soloed that content, total legend!" I'd like to see pve new mechanics. My ghost is always like, "i'll scan this" then i get waves of enemies to wipe out. I'd like to see more ways guardians can be awesome to each other. I like the tokens you can give via boons in vanguard and crucible but i'd like new ways to promote good vibes. We like to farm. So, maybe make an area (a loot cave type of thing) for farming (with matchmaking). Each week we get to vote on what weapon to farm. And then we go to the farming area (an area that you've designed so it's fun to farm stuff) and, well, we farm haha to see if we can get the rolls we want. But fair percentages on all rolls and stuff. This can be part of arms week. In one glance i'd like to see what a guardian might be up to and if they're after an extra guaridan. And, a tool that is preset that lets me say to them that I'd be cool to join for that activity. A random roaming boss. That's gives like heaps of cool stuff. The boss could be anywhere. It'll be cool to get someone in chat saying, "i've found the boss!!!" Then we all jump in! Kinda like how people find xur (but maybe less static) but it's a random boss with heaps of loot, like x10 enhancement cores and a high chance of exotic. A war mode (with matchmaking). An area I can go into and there is constant enemies. Not waves or anything. Just a lot of enemies, like as many as the game can handle. And, I can just go in and destroy. The titan bubble to work against blade barrage. Ooo and it'd be cool to have the engrams spill out of the bosses again. Not chests. Cheers! Overall really enjoying Forsaken, cheers!!!

  • Hi Cozmo. I start off directly ;) What the game still needs in a general way (in comparison with D1): More clear ways to get more lore entries (im chasing that Chronicler seal) Rift in the Crucible SRL as an event For some reason i cannot see any Osiris en Warmind collection items. Is it still acquireable? (The osiris ships and sparrows for example) A few old exotics need to come back: Dragonsbreathe, No Land Beyond, Truth, Invective, Patience and Time, Super good advice. Class specific weapons A way to choose if i wanna use my special melee or a regular thrall melee slap (maybe holding the button activates the special one) D1 had a lot of cool shaders, bring a majority back please :) More ways to get mod components This is important: GIVE THE SPIDER ADVENTURES JUST LIKE OTHER PLANETARY VENDORS (Sorry for using caps ;) ) Trials of osiris (this was cooler than trials of the nine) and im not even a pvp dude. An ingame explanation about what happened to our old subclasses like: Sunsinger and Arc Blade. And is it wrong for me to say that i would like gjallarhorn back ;) (Our own ghost kinda build it for us in Rise of Iron, he must have the schematic somewhere) Idea: Clan Vault, a vault for your clan mates to share where you can dump in planetary materials, weapon parts and so on (but nothing gamebreaking) Thanks

    • Why do you have the merchants accept tokens in anything smaller than a full engram increment? I mean if it costs 100 tokens why the hell do we turn them in 10 at a time?

      • More weapon perk slots and more/better weapon perks. Perks like full auto, better scopes, lazer sites, armor piercing rounds, etc. Think about all the ways you can actually mod a gun.

        • Gambit maps mostly suck. Get rid of the "lava" or whatever that kills you instantly in all maps.

        • Hi Cozmo! First off, I'm really enjoying Forsaken. You guys are definitely moving in the right direction and I want to see the game become all it can be. Kudos to you guys. Honestly the biggest things I'd Things I've liked: - Warlocks feel powerful again, rather than just support. I love that. - Random rolls. How I have missed this! Thank you for including that again - Heavy Machine guns. I can't wait to play with these again! - Inclusion of Clash and Control in Competitive. Mixes things up. - The dark storyline. YES. I APPROVE. I hope the stories keep moving down this path. Not only are they more interesting, but they give our guardians' actions more weight than before. Also, please continue to develop the npcs' personalities. It was really interesting to see the difference between Zavala and Ikora this time. Hell, even with the Ace quest Cayde's story was really opening up. - Blind well. It's a fun mode! - Dreaming City. It's a beautiful place FULL of secrets. I love secrets. I love to explore the world. Please, keep doing this! - Soft tweaks. Instead of outright nerfing things, you are tweaking things here and there on things to make them keep their power, while also lessening their "cheese" tactics. I think this is definitely the right way to go instead of outright nerfs. - Snipers, Shotguns, and Fusion rifles in special slot. Contrary to opinions, I do like that I can run around with a sniper again. I also absolutely love the sheer amount of customizations I can do with my loadouts with weapons in both slots! Things to improve on - Competitive 4 stacks vs solo players. I feel that this can be tweaked a bit. While not impossible to take on 4 stacks as solo players (I have Luna solo), this does promote a feeling of "tossed by the waste side" for solo players. Like we can never achieve Legend in competitive. I'd love it if solos can match against solos more often, though I know that may be tough. It would definitely make achieving legend as a solo player much more possible though. - Y1 gear with random rolls. While I do love random rolls on current gear, I do think that we're missing a ton of things from Y1. I would love it if you guys could include the rest of year 1 gear in the random loot pool. This would open up a TON of ways to customize our loadouts and I'm sure a lot of people would be pleased in going back and doing a bunch of activities (I would totally go back and farm for prophetic weapons if they had random rolls!). And I love how some of the Yuga sundown gear looks, but I'd be mad to wear it right now. If it had random rolls though....I would totally go back and farm escalation protocol for random rolled gear. - Sniper flinch. I can deal with it, however it feels absolutely a bit much when tapped by an auto rifle from across the map. I'd say maybe tweak unflinching sniper aim or lessen this just a hair. - Change the vendor rolls weekly by random. It's a little much to see people running around with the same vendor roll bygones every time we go into crucible. And it also gets a bit stale to only see THAT roll. Same for better devils, and same for the curated roll weapons from vendors. It'd be nice if these vendor weapons changed weekly to not only lessen the feeling of "it's everywhere", but to give us a bit of variability, and something to chase after weekly. I'm sure you'd see an improvement of numbers in gambit just by doing this. That's all I can think of now, but If I can think of more I'll add later. As a UXer I love that you guys are doing this, and I'm truly happy to see that you guys engage with your community so much. Well done.

          What I like: First and foremost, gambit. I like the game mode, the compelling lore tie in, the fact that it isn't just another pvp mode, the gear, pretty much all of it. Also, the dreaming city as an evolving patrol area. What I'd like to see changed: Exotics. This idea that rarity (as opposed to quality) is what makes gear exotic is... not easy for me to understand. I don't feel happy when I see an exotic engram, I just feel bummed out when it is inevitably some item I have no interest in using. Pretty much the only exotic weapon in forsaken I am even sort of excited about is Trinity Ghoul... so when I got a two tailed fox today, I considered the last three weeks of grind between that and the last exotic to have been a total waste. When I eventually get a Trinity Ghoul, I wont feel any better about it than I would have had I gotten it day one... I will just be annoyed that it took so long. Easy fix, do away with world drop exotics entirely and attach them all to some sort of quest. Then I can work specifically towards the items I want and ignore the ones I don't... instead of just hoping that I won't have to wait three more weeks for another slim chance at getting something good. Let's be honest... nobody likes RNG.

            Im not even sure where to start. I do enjoy the game, Forsaken was a good step in the right direction. But I still feel that there is needs to be more Destiny in Destiny 2. And I dont mean reskins, or old things brought from Destiny.. Things need to be done more how they were done in Destiny. Lets talk about the campaign. GIVE IT TO ME! I paid for those missions, I should be able to replay them WHENEVER I want. Not just when they are rotating through the daily heroics. This has been a glaring issue since the release of D2. Give me my story missions. This should be done how it was in D1. They should be like a road map again on the patrol maps. They dont need to be unsightly on the map or huge. But they should be there so I can pick and choose if I so wish to go back and play them. I did enjoy quite a few of the story missions. This should also be a thing for world quests. If I unlock that quest and do it, it should be there to be replayed if I want to play it again. I mentioned daily heroics.. They are not rewarding to do. The only time I do them is when they are a milestone. They should offer a chance at getting legendaries, just like strikes do. Public events. Not rewarding either. Only do them for bounties.. Thats about it. Heroics used to offer a chance at getting an exotic to drop. I am unsure if this has changed, since the drop rate changed, and how they dropped, I have not gotten a single exotic from a heroic public event. So make doing heroic public events worth it. Heroic events should drop a legendary item, and the chance of getting an exotic should return. You made it so Public events had a second stage, make it so people want to do it rather then just buzz through events.. It needs to be rewarding to do them. Lost sectors. Also not rewarding to do. I love lost sectors and the idea of them. I feel you could be a little more creative with these.. I was a little disappointed that these were marked on the map.. whats the point of a [i]lost [/i]sector if its been marked on a map for you? If there is to be any new locations.. Dont mark them on the map, make people find them by actually playing the game and exploring. Regional chests... These are a sorry excuse for the gold chests in D1. These too are marked on the map for you. Stop holding our hands! These should not be marked on the map. Make people play your game bungie, by making them look for them! In D1 each location had gold chests, and you could see how many gold chests there were to find on the side of the map. This is how it should be again. Dead Ghosts... I was excited when these returned.. but... 25? ONLY 25?! There were 150 or so in D1. I like finding these, exploring is fun. The animation for the ones in D2 when you found them was a bit meh.. But just add more ghosts... Please. Speaking of Ghosts.. My inventory slots for Ghosts is full.. There are far too many things and locations, and ghosts that do different things to hold them all. Add more ghosts with more perks to reduce the need to have so many. On a side note.. Props to the designer who made the Cat ghost.. It has such cute little details, with it meowing at you when you pull it out, and the eye changing in different lighting. Nice touches. Shit perks, but nice touches. Reskins! NO MORE RESKINS! Seriously.. This is just down right lazy and annoying. There are some seriously cool models of guns in the blues or even greens that you can pick and alter. But using the same legendary models over and over with different perks, is just down right lazy game design. I know designing things is hard, being an artist my self, so I can see how falling into the trap of just reskinning something can be more ideal.. but its again, just lazy.. and not good design for a video game. Titan shoulders... make them smaller. I do see where you were going with this, but they just look dumb... its that simple. Stop. Please just stop. Warlock robes... Im kind of curious if warlocks are going to a dance or ball that no one else was invited to. Those robes dont look like robes.. they look like dresses or ball gowns. Not some space battle wizard that can blow you to pieces. They need some coats, or trenches with scarves would look pretty bad ass. Hunter cloaks.. So I know no one has really touched on this much, but stop it with the funky looking shape of the hood. It either sits back too far on the head, too close around the neck, or for some reason sticks out infront of the helmet.. Scarves should make a come back, along with some more tattered cloaks, some more cloaks with scarves around the neck and shoulders would look cool to me. Some exotic class items would be ok in my book. Just dont have me pay 20 for them and then hand them out later on... looking at that stunt you pulled in D1... tsk tsk. Speaking of exotics.. where are they? Seriously... Where are they? I have maybe gotten 2 or 3 Forsaken exotics to drop, and then numerous duplicates... and I have decent RNG. You want to treat exotics special, sure, I understand.. They should not be handed out like bad clearance candy like they were in year 1. Fine, fine. But this system where any enemy type can drop an exotic needs to go. Exotics should only drop from high tier adds such as bosses, majors or altras, like they did in D1. The drop rate needs just a slight tweaking as well. Nightfalls should almost always promise an exotic for a reward.. I miss the days of D1. Clearing the nightfall and holding your breath as the reward screen comes up.. and you either get really excited, jealous or angry at your friends, or disappointed together. Revive tokens in the raid... need to go. At least for the normal raid. This is a terrible mechanic, and does not make you choose wisely on what to do. This is a good way of making those who do not feel skilled enough in the game, not want to raid. I have a friend who isnt the best at the game, but we used to raid all the time.. now that there are revive tokens, he feels bad and so doesnt raid, at all. A mechanic that forces a team wipe because someone, ONE PERSON, does something stupid and dies, and so often forces a team wipe.. is not a good design to have in an endgame activity. For hard mode, perhaps its fine.. but for the casual raid, no.. Please remove revive tokens. Bounties. Bounties were always fun to do in D1.. In D2, they kind of feel a little tedious.. The rewards dont really feel quite right. Clan bounties need to be rethought.. The XP for clans before felt just right because you could do whatever you wanted to get the XP done. Forcing people to do certain bounties to get the XP limits what clan members will do.. and this hurts smaller clans with less members. This is the case with mine. Many of my members dislike and refuse to do crucible bounties, or even gambit bounties.. Remove the bounties and return it to how it was before. Armsday and gunsmith bounties. Add bounties to get mod components.. right now there are way too few ways to get mod components. (Iv actually run out.. and have no clue how to get more.... help...) Maybe add test weapons again, complete a test weapon and get five mod components.. or something like that. Armsday and armsday weapons were fun to do and get and play around with. NO RESKINS.

            Enhancement cores are still too hard to get. For instance, 3 patrols and a Lost sector for ONE core. Too much. There needs to be more separation between PvE and PvP. Why are we forced to go into the crucible to earn a powerful engram each week when power levelling has no effect in there. Take the power/light level out of PvP completely. There's no need for it if it has no relevance. Sort the scout rifles out properly. The 15% buff you gave them feels like a placebo. Bows are extremely niche. I don't like them, nobody I play with does. Scout rifles shouldn't be suffering because you want people to use bows. They ALL feel weak and god rolls and curated rolls don't make them any more appealing when they have no power. Stop time gating everything. I'm referring specifically to boss encounters. Just make them harder FFS. Although the time gating of this Thunderlord 'quest' is a cheap trick to keep folks hanging around until the Black armoury drops. As for the Thunderlord thing being a quest. Well, we'll see. After this weeks part it felt much more like a public event than a quest. Because that's all it was... Let us have the exotics. Year 2 exotics. Let xur sell them, as he used to. Repeat yr 1's are a plague. I realise that was all a bit negative and I must say that the game on the whole is infinitely better now since Forsaken than it was in year 1. Oh, and you've made enough money out of us. Stop being tight. Ditch the awful 'Hybrid servers' and get some proper dedicated one's for us console players. You never know. People might actually want to go into the crucible then...

          • I suggest adding perks onto year 1 armor if you own forsaken... it’s obviously doable since year 1 exotic armor is buyable from collections with perks. Even if it’s static rolls many people want their year 1 armor to be viable.

              What I want to see added and improved (*cracks fingers over keyboard*): 1.) Haunted Forest becomes permanent activity with bounties, weapons and armor. Chance of getting both the No Time To Explain or Vex Mythoclast through either gameplay or a quest 2.) Spider and Petra will sell one legendary weapon per week for say 10,000 glimmer 3.) Xûr selling Forsaken exotics 4.) Make getting the Redrix’s Broadsword a tad bit easier to get (ex. Unlocks when you reset Valor three times in one season 5.) Warlock armor with resilience 6.) Pocket Infinity or Outbreak Prime makes a return 7.) SIVA Fallen are added back (Why weren’t they in the game at release, we saw a screenshot that said they were going to be in the game?) 8.) Make the Dreaming City a Flashpoint 9.) More clarity on what activities reset on Tuesday’s and Fridays (I haven’t seen the Flashpoint reset on Fridays) 10.) FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND EVERYTHING HOLY, PLEASE BRING BACK COMBINED ARMS! I want to see a Combined Arms map on every destination!

              Hi Cosmo, This is a few things off the cuff. Firewalling the haunted forest was a great idea. this should have been in place since you forced matchmaking on the Weekly heroic way back in D1 Vanilla. Add this to the strikes playlists. I would rather go with 1 friend then have a AFK random. Bring back the weekly challenge raid at 590 or whatever like Destiny 1. Essentially the Leviathan is now not relevant unless people are missing a catalyst. Let us get upgraded drops of that loot. The Supers are super fun. Thundercrashing all over the place, and throwing hammers everywhere, absolute blast good work there. Novawarp range tho, wow its quite far, seems excessive but whatever you guys said you wouldn't nerf supers/exotics. Fix all the glitches/errors, goes without saying but how are things still so broken. Bring back ammo synths for regular activities. I do like the raid banner idea, but ammo synths please like D1. Good job on all the quests, but it still feels very hollow compared to end of D1 state. The quests were epic and dropped cool stuff. Here I am doing all these stupid quests and they dont feel rewarding. Year 1 gear being able to be rerolled masterwork and be given year 2 perks and masterwork. Move the heavy spawn time in Crucible to bit later in the game. Bring back 2 heavy drops like D1 crucible. If you are giving me all my old D1 exotics back slowly, just give us a update that gives us D1 strikes and raids as before. If not all the old patrol zones as well. Timegating the new quest, I see its good giving other people who may not have the time to log in a chance to complete it. I remember having to grind hard during season 3 faction rallies while busy with other stuff to barely get the catalysts. How about making this quest last 3 weeks, but letting those on now to actually smash it out? Make swords great again. They should be like they were on release or like D1. I see we may finally be getting back machine guns. Good move.

            • What I've liked in regards to forsaken: ive enjoyed the speed of play, I've enjoyed the lack of metas save for a few weapons in crucible, enjoyed the new raid, pleased to see that pvp players have something to chase, I've enjoyed gambit for the most part. Some things I'd prefer a change to: 1- spectral blade tracking is clunky at times. I've had various situations in crucible where I've been less than a foot away from an opponent, swung and missed, then swung a second time only to miss(if I'm not dead at this point) I'd swing a third time and finally connect the hit. I know it's not ment to be blade dancer but it would help if the tracking was better, afterall a super is a guardians strongest weapon in pvp. 2- the hunter arc uppercut could potentially be a bit more nasty in pvp if the travel distance would be brought back and turned into a one hit kill much like handheld nova or shoulder charge. Perhaps this will bring silence to the whole "we want one hit throwing knives". Another interesting thought I kinda tossed out was giving it a chaining affect where the more enemies it hits the greater the damage output from enemy to enemy. 3- dont go about the tuning the same way d1 was tuned by nerfing evreything into the dirt. I like that you found a balance for sleeper and appreciate that over just making it useless. 4- making an exotic feel exotic off the bat once the player gets their hands on it. There was a let down recently with a certain hand cannon that was advertised to be far more devastating in the "tools of the trade" trailer. When you advertise an amazing exotic then lock it behind a random chance and a lengthy quest. I do enjoy this game and only hope it improves.

            • I would like to see more options in crucible, like everyone in match uses same gun types. All auto rifles or shotguns as examples. Could also do it as all primary, energy, or heavy

            • Regarding what I like since Foresaken? Love the depth of weapon and armor random roles. What Changes/ additions would like to see? Bring the Factions back permanently with random armor and some bounties to add progression for them. Then on Faction Rally weeks have weapons opened up to purchase for the week. Perhaps improve Escalation Protocol drops into "smart loot" giving players better chance at completing collections. Thanks again for everything thus far and to come.

            • Just bring Y1 Armor into Y2 and I’ll be happy. The planet armor from Io and Titan are my favorite.

              I think the Triumphs for Solo Shattered Throne and Flawless Shattered Throne were great steps in the right direction for giving players who prefer a solo setting a challenge. However, it was a homerun but not a grand slam. Currently, Solo is more rewarding than Solo Flawless. Why is that? Solo Flawless should [b]at the very least[/b] reward an emblem or variant as well. Exclusivity is a major motivator. More people would try it then. - Personally, i think Solo Flawless Shattered Throne should have been required for the Cursebreaker Title. Take out the Eggs requirement and replace it with Solo Flawless Shattered Throne. Making a Title for every player preference, making a Title for Solo players. That could have been a Solo player's ultimate achievement. Their endgame. That was not the case, but would love to see something like it in the future. For all players who prefer to play solo.               Accessibility. Make things easy to access. The big turn off from this game is the long boring meaningless grind to get to even participate in end game activities. Wishender & Malfeasence. I lost my patience about halfway down the road to power up. Iron Banner wasn't fun whatsoever, so I wasn't about to deal with that even though I like PvP. There was no real reason for me to keep going. I just had someone carry me through the Shattered Throne even though I was only 558 at the time. At that point, I lost interest in the so called Dungeon. Like what was the point after getting Wish Ender? Everything in Forsaken ended up being repetitive nonsense that had us running around in circles, which is kinda ironic funnily enough. There wasn't any investment, we weren't being rewarded properly for regularly playing except for what, Power? Power shouldn't be valued so high that it's an end game reward. It's virtually not worth the effort. Then we had regular Exotics being so rare that we forgot they even existed, so even then it wasn't worth playing regularly anymore because any excitement we or I once had was taken away. I used to play regularly with 5 accounts because I liked the chance of anything to happen, and I'd craft my next characters depending on the exotics that dropped. Now I dont have it in me to pick up the controller as my time will be more useful elsewhere.

            • Blind well suggestions Would like to see more tiers or keep being able to overcharge until you can't complete it as it gets harder rewards get better.... ( higher chances for exotics, primes, and God rolls the more overcharges you complete). Thanks
