General Destiny 2: Forsaken Feedback

As mentioned in the TWAB today, we are going to be making some feedback threads to help us track the community’s thoughts on the current state of the game, and what direction you want to see it move in. This first one is a wildcard. Tell us… whatever you want. Here are a few prompts, but feel free to write whatever. We will be back soon for some more targeted discussions. What have you liked most about Destiny 2 post Forsaken? What would you like to see changed in the future? What would you like to see added?

Can we get KINETIC fusion rifles, please? I feel misled that a major selling point of Forsaken was weapon slot changes, introducing kinetic shotguns and kinetic snipers. To my dismay, we didn't get any kinetic fusion rifles :( 1st Edit) I just remembered you can loadout 3 grenade launchers! Whaaat?!?! 2nd Edit) It's good to see 1,500 players agree with me: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/9uo6si/can_we_get_a_kinetic_fusion_rifle/ 3rd Edit - March 2023 - having not played the game at all in two years, I just received a kinetic fusion from a world drop. Thank you, Bungie! I wish @Gingerbread_Man was still active so I could rub this in his face.

    • A few things that come to mind: -Changes to matchmaking for Competitive and for Gambit. A team of randoms going up against a 4-stack is a not fun for either side, and makes doing quests very difficult for people playing solo or in pairs. Perhaps separate playlists for premade teams could be a thing. -More Exotic Masterwork Catalysts. While later Exotics like SUROS Regime and Forsaken Exotics are understandable, Prospector, Rat King and Hard Light have been in the game since launch and are still without catalysts. These three need some love, especially with Black Armoury not too far off. -A retooling of Gambit mechanics. The catch up mechanics that are currently in place feel somewhat unnecessary, and could use some tweaking, maybe even a complete overhaul. Giving the losing team a chance is fine, but making the winning team weaker doesn't seem like the best solution. An additional suggestion: why not try locking heavy weapons for Invaders? This could go in conjunction some additional buffs for the Invader, like boosted ability charge rates, or increased damage resistance. This might fix people's Sleeper woes and make invading more interesting. Just an idea, but it might be worth looking at. -More open Crucible maps. The return of Pantheon was a step in the right direction, but there are still very few places for Snipers and Scout Rifles to really shine. Most older Crucible maps were made with 4v4 in mind, and currently they're a bit crowded for ranged weapons. -Something for Ikora to do. Currently Ikora has no purpose at all. She needs some kind of inventory. Maybe some general bounties that can be completed anywhere, like in Destiny 1. On the subject of bounties, the Gunsmith could do with some of his own. Maybe these bounties could award mods or mod components, or even weapons that can only be obtained through them. -An emblem for deaths by the Architects. Just a fun idea, and one that should really be a thing.

        • Things I like to see changed or added to the game: - Make Whisper of the Worm last until Reset or make it easier for people who work weekends. I work Fri-Mon & I am gone for 13 hours, so I never even get a chance to play this mission. - Ability to reroll masterwork perks. (I really love the addition of Random Rolls, since it adds a grind back to the game, but getting a "God Roll" and the Masterwork is not what you wanted does not make me want to spend any cores to level it up). Just make the cost of rerolling the masterwork higher and higher to where it might not be worth it to reroll anymore. Don't know why this was removed for Y2. - Make Scout Rifles better like how they are in D1 / or add these popular Scout Rifles / Archetype (Hung Jury SR4, Vision of Confluence, and Burning Eye) if we don't have them yet. - Would like to see more Armor/Weapons have Random Rolls - Ability to Titan Skate and have Twilight Garrison Exotic added

A weekly account based Exotic Milestone, the drop rates are awful and I think players need at least a small way of acquiring at least 1 Exotic (wether it be a duplicate or not) a week

Radar in D2, bring back the vertical space awareness on the radar like in D1. To much power ammo in crucible it needs rework right now you have to play around heavy especially in comp making the map area restricting to play. Have power spawn in 2 locations maybe once or twice per match and if you die it's gone like in D1. (It's a bit more golden gun specific) Buff throwing knives not one hit kill just needs a damage buff like in D1. Incidinary grenades need to be able to OHK if it lands right near you make it like in D1 they were rewarding to use. Right now a titan suppressor grenade not sure if it does similar damage but it can also suppress you much better than tether. The Hunter dodges needs buffing, the titan shields can save you take damage and hurt the enemy that touches it. Warlock rift you can share with teammates and it stays there when you die. But when I roll the animation hit detection is trash atleast the marksman dodge reloads your weapon but the gamblers dodge is underwhelming make it so it was like in D1. Give us better snipers!! Better perks like mulligan, replenish, with ambush and shortgaze scopes like in D1. Make snipers at least mid impact able to shutdown supers with 1 headshot like in D1. Give 4 shots to special ammo, ideally 6 at the beginning and have leg armour have sniper shotgun fusion scavenger perks so we can pick up 4 ammo shots like in D1. Some supers need a buff especially tether with nova warp lasting so long it can spawn kill you and killing behind walls, one golden gun can't take it down is stupid. Auto rifles, smgs, 140 handcannons need to be stronger. I would love to have 1 headshot 2 body shot handcannons return personally. Make banshee more useful, lower the cost of a package, I hope something similar like gunsmith packages return like in D1. I've only got a Hunter so you might think I'm being biased with the Hunter dodge but I can only comment on what I've played. Eventually I make a titan and warlock. Like in D1! Like in D1! Like in D1! 'Go play D1 then you scrub!' Saved you typing it. Some things in D1were just better the way it worked.

Optional Matchmaking for Nightfall Dedicated Servers An actual competitive, where people of similar skill or rank face each other Bring back Skirmish, Rift, Salvage, Permanent Mayhem, Zone Control, Combined arms Bigger maps or tune these maps to fit 6v6 Bigger modes, like 12v12 heck 18v18 but on dedicated servers, it would be a shitfest now Class specific items Bring back more old exotics but create a shit ton more of new ones Heroic Lost sectors, Heroic Patrols Buff Spectral Blades and Sentinel Hit Detection

Cozmo can we have the quest for the introductory for both the crucible and gambit removed some people might like competitive play but I myself and others do not. I think it should be left up to the individual players to choice for themselves instead of being constantly reminded of this every time that someone go to the directory has to put up with a waypoint marker flashing on and off. Ps: what I would like to see is quests become extinct specially ones involving exotics

                  • I hope Bungie reads this. I have been playing since D1. I started playing D2 within 2 weeks of release. Forsaken has been a huge improvement overall but still not perfect. Bringing random rolls is great. You were reading my mind with Gambit. Hindsight is always 20/20 but the following is how Destiny can be better: 1) I feel PVP is really struggling right now. I played tons of PVP in D1 and D2 (FIRST 3 SEASONS). TIME TO KILL is hovering around 0.66 seconds in every Crucible playlist. So now quick match games are now Trials. You have to be hardcore PVP with pinnacle weapons to stay relevant. We have to complete quests (Ace of Spades) in this. Now we all have to be hardcore PVP just to get the normal campaign quests done. There needs to be more of a continuum of selection in Crucible. A selection where noobs and PVE players can sharpen their skills to graduate up without being fodder for the hardcore PVP players. Strikes have different light levels where you can be overpowered and learn the mechanics which prepare you for the higher light levels. This is where static perks worked great in D2 first seasons. Everyone had the same guns and was skill vs skill instead of skill vs overpowered weapon. D3 could use an entry-level, only Shaxx static roll weapons allowed, playlist to sharpen one's skill. Then graduate to a playlist that allowed Luna and other pinnacle weapons. Allow Crucible orientated weapons in the upper playlists and non Crucible quests to be done in the lower one. 2.) You should be able to craft armor and weapons a little more. Right now all armor and weapons are completely random. However, some control is this would be great. At a minimum let people re-roll perks or masterwork perk separately. It would be nice to craft an armor piece without using a mod spot. Trying to get at least 3 whole sets of perfect armor with the right element and perks may not be possible with only complete random drops. For example, I want a complete three heavy armor set for my warlock with each armor piece containing the same element (to get the tax benefit for that defense against that element) with the very selected perks I am looking for. Masterworking an armor piece should let you pick which element that armor piece will have a better defense against. Masterworking weapons should let you pick which stat it affects. I know mods exist but just another layer to add all of this. 3) Gaining all armor pieces of a destination should allow some additional bonus for going through the effort of collecting them. 4) We need exotic armor and exotic weapons that work together like Sturm and Drang. My idea is an exotic dual 3 shot sidearm where left and right arms alternate firing while you hold down the trigger (act like automatic 3 shot but twice the ammo). If used with specific exotic armor piece it would reload them extremely quickly (max reload stat). Without the armor piece, reload would absolutely suck. 5) Bring back Armsday with crafting abilities. 6) With every new season, Xur sells new exotics from the new season on day one but 4x the price as he does now. He also keeps previous season fated engram with its current cost. 7) Glimmer should be unlimited. No caps. 8) Being able to share weapons, while in a fireteam, and give resources to others in the game. 9) Put the way you could earn clan XP back the way it was. You could always change the value of each activity each week but just have everything you do count. 10) Have some way of dwindling sleeper nodes, not yet attained, more likely to pop up. 11) More exotic armor and exotic weapons that use your super energy or ability energy. 12) Mediations should have been where you guys put hidden stuff in. The first time you go through the campaign there is nothing hidden but with Ikora Mediations you could find exotic quest etc. I think you missed that. 13) In D3 have it where Ikora or somebody like that goes with you and really does fight next to you. Not unlike Cayde but even more of it. Have their own AI programming. You should complete a weekly quest to have Ikora or Zavala go with you in a strike or nightfall. Make them able to kick butt and able to revive you also. Not just a fixture. 14) Let players able to change any kinetic weapon to an elemental weapon, at a steep cost. I would love to have kinetic and sol Horror Story. 15) Let players select each ability option from subclass tree and don't group them up. You did well with grenades, jumps and ability selections just complete that thought with the rest of that subclass. Thank you.

I would love to see exotic quests offer atleast two separate ways to complete each step. A pve oriented way and a pvp oriented way. This benefits both pve and pvp players to complete the quest. I personally dont like pvp. Some people don't like pve. Give us a choice.

                  • Improve old lacklustre skill trees on subclasses that don't have good synergy. Improve auto rifle pve damage. Increase scout rifle pve damage. More loot that comes with forsaken. A lot of forsaken's gear I've gotten dozens and dozens of times and the only chance at new gear is paying for dlc. I don't like that. Create more activities designed around having optional 6 man fireteams. Keeping it short.

Things I liked about Foresaken: New subclass trees although static feel great with synergy and allowing some exotics to make them interesting. Scorn still feel fun to fight. Dreaming City feels like a great point of end game. Progression feels fine once you figure it out. Random rolls and weapon slot changes were just right. What I would like to see changed: Dungeons shouldn't be the pinnacle end game activity requiring the highest light. They are designed as a in between strikes and the raid and should be used as such to help the community understand basic raid mechanics and themes we will see in the raids. They should have light requirements to fill the gaps between strikes and the raid. Raid bosses are still turrets and not threats besides Riven. Give us more active boss fights that have a variety of different attacks we learn how to adapt to, not jump through hops with a timer going off just so we can obliterate them in one DPS phase. Normal feels too punishing for new raiders. Again, normal raid I have always personally felt as if should teach the raiders more in-depth of what the raid mechanics are for that raid to give it an identity while also being fun, but not too punishing. For punishing difficulty that the game lacks, make a HARD version of the raid with the mechanics expanded upon and a few new mechanics exclusive to the hard mode. We need a reason to farm for this gear and test it in a PvE setting, not just the crucible. Raid gear is not very good, at least most of it unless its the curated rolls for a few exceptions. Bring back raid specific perks on the weapons and armor, don't just have them in the mods that disappear after one use. Gambit needs some changes, Primeval is WAY too easy to obliterate. Needs more HP and reasons for players to come out of their spawn areas so invading isn't just a wait till they poke their heads out experience. What would you like to see added? As I said a hard mode for the raid with evolved mechanics and exclusive mechanics with rewards to strive for to keep me invested in tweaking my character for that ultimate PvE test. PvP should not be the sole reason for me to keep playing after I hit the gear cap. New Weapon Rarity. Something between exotic and legendary to chase that are unique. SRL... please, I miss it :( 6 Person strikes would be nice, something like a raid but made to be large scale PvE skirmishes. Let us have those "Battle of Twilight Gap" experiences in game. Exotic weapon catalysts for Foresaken weapons, its the main reason few players are still using Foresaken weapons even after they acquire them, many don't compare to year 1 weapons with their catalysts. In Game LFG system. Seriously, we need this as a feature. Even consoles can use them, just look at all the MMOs on them, they have in game LFG systems for a reason.

Cozmo, how about FINALLY paying tribute to Guardians who have stuck with Destiny through all of it? I'm not referring to an emblem, a shader, or the privilege of purchasing gear from Bungie. I mean a real, in-game, reward that completely sets apart the most loyal and die-hard Guardians from those rushing through the turn-style. The most epic way I can see this happening is with a D1 and D2 cross-over quest. What better way to pay tribute to the most dedicated Guardians than to make them play a questline that spans both games and possibly has them going from one to the other? I can't think of any other game developer who has even attempted this. Ex: Imagine if you are a guardian who played Destiny in it's first year. You start up D2 and notice that the Cryptarch has an exotic quest-line for you. In that quest, the Cryptarch discusses his conversations with Ikora about meditations and begins to explain his interests in obtaining a favorite weapon of his. Through the questline you would have to speak to Ikora who eventually advances the quest to the point where you are asked to meditate on your most lethal weapons in your past. I don't know exactly how the canon could tie-in the D1 guardian to the D2, but I doubt it would be difficult when just about everyone in the game can transcend time and space. The long story short; a year-1 Destiny player could go into their saved game, complete the accompanying quest-line, and select a Destiny 1, year-one legendary in their vault to be converted to a D2 exotic with EXACT stats... and maybe include a standard intrinsic-perk for all of these weapons to really make it shine. I know this seems daunting. But imagine what this would mean to Destiny fans, especially the ones who don't feel appreciated for their customer loyalty. Imagine what this would do to the industry if it was successful. I can't imagine it being received poorly. Who agrees?

                  • At the moment, I am so jaded with Destiny that I haven’t played it for a couple of weeks or more. I tried, but on spawning in, I just couldn’t be bothered. I read the forums a lot, comment occasionally, and I hardly ever see a response from Bungie that reflects the requests and complaints that I read. I don’t think anything I suggested was even considered, some had several "likes" Not to be too harsh, but I feel like I'm talking to Turnips. Even a real Turnip would have been way too smart to introduce the Gunsmith Mod System, The Shader System (compared to the D1 system) The Fixed Roll System and the Infusion System. In a vegetable patch of developers, these Turnips would have been tossed out. These were mindless, terrible, untested decisions, and some very obviously intended to enhance the Crucible experience for paying spectators. It didn’t seem to do anything for the Crucible players, going by what the complaints are. I don’t play Crucible, and I think this really gives Bungie the shits big time. Not myself personally, but all those like me who won’t play as Bungie insists. There was an obviously “tongue-in-cheek” hint by Bungie that the interaction between PvP and PvE would be lessened in Forsaken. i.e. quests would not contain the necessity of doing both PvE and PvP to earn a particular reward. They lied! It’s worse! There was an obviously “tongue-in-cheek” hint by Bungie that PvP would not be enhanced at the expense of PvE. They lied! They introduced more PvP, even tying it to Clan rewards. Way too much of the game is cosmetics. Emblems for rewards FFS! You can only display one at a time, and even then it's not in the game, and who the Hell knows what it means anyway?. Bungie spends a lot of time and text in TWABS, jazzing things up, promoting cosmetics, and trying to whip up enthusiasm. Note to Bumgie - Dead horses are extremely reluctant to respond to a flogging with enthusiastic hype. Someone mentioned ugly Warlock armor. What brain dead fool decided that Warlocks have eyes one above the other, and not side by side? And what brain dead fool decided that Titans don’t have eyes at all? To cap it off, what brain dead fool decided to run with the previous two fool’s works of "art"? The latest desperation is Refer a Friend. “If you can get another sucker to play Destiny, we will give you a bauble! Won’t that be nice?” You can’t make this stuff up! Apologies, but this is as far as I can get. None is very supportive. I really believe that Bungie will not listen, have no intention of listening, and this is just a PR stunt. They have clearly demonstrated a lack of vision and a lack of the games historical successes to be influenced now by mere feedback. Feedback which has, by the way, been ongoing every day, for weeks and months, and now, all of a sudden, Cozmo says he wants feedback! What the Hell does he think has been Feedback over the last months? What’s he saying? “Gimme some feedback. Yeah, I know, you’ve already given it, but we didn’t like it, and we didn’t do anything with it, so give us some that we do like.”

                  • I feel like forsaken helped D2 a lot but still needs a lot of help so here’s my thoughts: -make game solo friendly -more weapons and armor - remove time gated quest -remove ranked locked quest(Luna’s howl) -make malfeasance strike match make -more loot

                  • My personal wish list: Stop time-gating quests. Since this year seems to be the year of bounties, bring back the bounty questline exotics like D1Y1. Those had a choice of three bounties, had reasonable objectives in each bounty, and we're overall fun to do. If your going to keep enhancement cores, tie them to the tiers of powerful gear weekly milestones. Tier 1 gets you 1, tier 2 gets 2 etc.etc. reward them also for playing the game, not cheap tactics like spider bounties or buying mats to exchange and hoping for the best.

                  • Forsaken was a very good DLC. It showed that if you guys want to, you can fix the mess that D2 was. Didn't bring the game back to D1 Y3 standards, but is a step on the right direction. Things that should change/be added: - Allow us to infuse gear regardless of class. This was a thing on D1 and was removed only to make your levelling slower. - Bring Back Intellect, Discipline and Strength. Put Resilience, Mobility and Recovery on our Subclasses Skill tree. - On the skill tree note, allow us to choose and mix perks and have our own "builds". - Make balance changes different for PvE and PvP, just like the last update. - Remove the Cores needed to infuse legendary equipment. This was an unnecessary change that most didn't approve.

The Good: Raid The Grind Exotics don’t drop like candy Collections badges seals etc... Crucible improvements like TTK Weapon slot changes The new mods system The dreaming city Shattered Throne Needs improvements: The crucible primary weapons damage still should be increased on some weapons types and arctypes (scouts, autos, smgs...) SBMM in quickplay (this is the worst one for me) Competitive also needs some matchmaking improvements (facing a lot of people that are waaay higher in rank than me Competitive heavy spawns should reduced completely or reduced by a lot. Solo stike option would be great too

                  • Please remove cores from infusion and change the name back as it over complicates and adds an unnecessary grind for players wanting to experiment with different gear loadouts. Everything else is pretty fun so far in my opinion, looking forward to the next content drop.

                  • Blind well needs a specific loot pool. Its rock up, do 3 level 3/4 get the bounty and go. Needs something to grind for. Weapons, armour, exotic etc. The ability to rerole armour masterwork. Most of the good looking titan armour is mobility. Back to year one with the ability to change it to suit playstyle.

                  • Hi Cozmo, 1. Remove cores from infusion: changing the name doesn't change the fact that cores don't belong in infusion. I'm at around 593 now if I put on all my max light gear. But guess what, the perks and rolls are completely wrong for the loadout I'm after. The gear I do have with at least some of the right perks on them, can't be infused when something drops with higher light. The road to 593 was complete hell. I got good weapons to drop with nice rolls but, as soon soon as a higher level one dropped, I had to swap. I could not keep upgrading the gear I liked due to the broken economy. Even with 100+ cores from before Forsaken, I had to save them for in the end. The entire road up to this point for character progression was complete frustration since I had to run around with gear I didn't like that didn't fit my playstyle and I couldn't afford to waste a single core. If Bungie keeps being hard headed in this matter: seriously make cores drop way more often in open world and not gate them behind public event grinds for fragments and bountie grinds for 1 measily core. 2. Buff supers up to a point where they are like what Nova Warp is now. This super is crazy powerful and hard to counter. Meanwhile Striker titan can get shot out his super with 1 shotgun shell and can't blink teleport all over the map, it has shit mobility. It's way to easy to shoot down a lot of supers these days btw, not only striker. 3. Split PVP - PVE. Pretty much every MMO out there has a complete seperation between the 2. Why? So PVP teams can tweak and balance PVP while not -blam!-ing up PVE and vice versa. 4. Enough with the PVP only quests. Provide ways for players to get every quest weapon no matter what game mode played. Take the meatball for example. It's only possible to get the ball in Gambit. Why can't it be a random strike boss for example as well? Why doesn't the quest give you an option like either kill X amount of guardians in Gambit or X amount of guardians in Crucible or kill X amount of Taken with HC precision shots in strikes (offcourse the x amount of enemies needs to be way higher to match the effort and time required for the PVP alternative). Give your playerbase a choice in how they want to play and not how you want us to play! 5. Why time gate the new quest for Thunderlord? Seriously, don't do it again. No one like that kind of shit. It's a cheap way to artificially extend content. 6. Replaying story missions over and over and over and over again is not fun for a powerful reward. Even if they are heroic, it's just something you've done for the 20th time already. Enough is enough. Oh look, I can res Osiris' ghost AGAIN. I know the spawn of every enemy by heart now, same for the dialogue. I rush through it as fast as I can, skip every mob and go straight for the end.

                  • Too many clan bounties are focused on n crucible and gambit. Skill based match making - being continually stomped in crucible and gambit has stopped me playing these game modes. There must be a way to make the PvP elements challenging (so I can improve as a player) with being constantly stomped. Enjoying the new raid.
