Why is skill based matchmaking not enabled in Gambit like it is in Competitive? Get paired against a 3-4 stack and you’ve got a bunch of randoms on your team so what happens? You get stomped. Clearly this is a failure on your part to implement good matchmaking to at LEAST give us close games. Instead, you pair me with people who literally cannot collect, bank, or kill Adds to save their lives. Against stacked teams. You just cannot get this stuff right can you?

Bungie alienates solo players and if only gets worse. “Refer a friend,” lol. I can’t even complete my gorram Gambif bounties for summon/kill primevals! The matchmaking is solid proof that no one in Bungie, beyond testing runs, has honestly played Destiny. As a solo I go up against stacks of motivated fireteams - at match start, 2 of mine will be afk and my 3rd is trying not to die as motes blink and disappear. Minute or two in, the mote count is 40-50 against the 5 I just dropped. And now I have to deal with the blockers from hell as they get a primeval. It’s not always like this but man, Gambit is a NIGHTMARE.

Minor correction to your post title: "Matchmaking is Terrible" There. Much better. :)

2 RepliesYou still get Infamy progress on losses. FFS simmer down.

There should be two playlists for Gambit. One called "thumbless idiots" and another for people who can actually play.
-
1 ReplyThey don't need matchmaking in Gambit. They use other in-code mechanics to artificially allow a team to catch up, in order to extend the game and raise their precious "time played" statistic.

I play with a friend or even a 3rd at some points and we've realized that being a 3x team or going against a 3x team doesn't guarantee a win for either. You can't really carry that 1 person like you could anything else - they don't just simply slow you down. Their incompetence has negative consequences. Its the bounties and the daily engram. Every time we encounter a player doing something not in-line with best practices, you can watch their motivation unfold before you. They're going for 15 motes. They're trying to invade at bad times. Or they just don't care because no matter the outcome, they get their daily engram. If Bungie wants Gambit to be a game mode to be cutthroat practice (like the lore suggests too), then the requirements for earning an engram need to be aligned with best practices for winning. My suggestion is get rid of any "summon a size blocker" and replace it with "kill a size blocker." The daily engram is win 1 match. The weekly is either win 3 or kill 5 primevals. This isn't a game mode where participation should be rewarded. One and done works fine in crucible, but not in this game mode. I want casual players to come in and find that their objectives align with best practices, not counter to common team strategies. I still feel that Bungie wants 4 stacks to be able to farm noobs in this game mode. The pit in my stomach says that "Bro's who win together buy DLC together"

Edited by Firesenz: 11/3/2018 4:36:51 AMThis fer sure happens to me all the time unfortunately my clan has left and LFG is full of sweats who demand bullshit stats, so I am stuck solo queueing and getting paired with kids who can't see two feet in front of them while the other team is a 3 or 4 stack full of sweats

It would take forever to find a match. I've done malfeasance on all three characters and working on a third infamy reset and I've done it all solo and have faced 3-4 stacks and have won many times. If they changed matchmaking for skill based you would just cry about it taking longer than now to find a match
-
The same reason skill based matchmaking isn't enabled in competitive, because the youtubers asked for it to be removed when they went to the summit, all so they could create videos to get people to watch them.
-
Their ain't no better Game mode in Destiny right now than Gambit, because now with such open maps theirs actual skill based combat instead of constant close quarters shotguns.

1 ReplyJust shows you how many people suck at the game. Its embarrassing.
-
1 ReplyGambit matchmaking is 10 times more worst then comp. When i play solo, i only face 4 stack, when i´m in a 4 stack i only play solos.

3 Replies1 Tractor Cannon + 1 Melting Point + 3 Blade Barrages = Instant Primeval kill on spawn

2 RepliesGambit is to random to implement any type of matchmaking. I consider myself a pretty good gambit player and my friend and I have a good strat for burning the prime in a few seconds leading to many more wins than losses. With that said I've had games with banking 96 motes and losing less than 10 and other games where I've lost more motes than gained. Sometimes s hit just happens and there is no way around it. What bothers me is not that there is a lack of matchmaking but the people that are just total trash that play gambit. There are so many dumpster fire players out there it blows my mind. Such as when I am playing solo with 3 other mentally challenged guardians and we have enough motes to spawn the prime evil with only 5 more motes and there is that one moron running around with 7 motes still killing enemy's and collecting motes instead of banking and getting the prime evil spawned first.

You can beat stacks in Gambit. Problem is when you get one or two teammates who collectively banks less than 20 motes the whole match.
-
2 RepliesThe problem I have is matchmaking 2players vs 4 players.and u either take a loss or leave and get punished for bungos-bungo
-
5 Replieswell you just need to be a better player. I play as a solo or 2 stack and regularly win vs. 3 and 4 stacks. It's easy if you know what you are doing - kill, kill fast, bank your motes. I don't rely on others to get the job done when I can do it myself. Buddy and I 3 nights ago started a match vs. a 4 stack where our other 2 players left just as we went to orbit. We didn't quit and ended up winning the match. Just need to be a better player, that's all.

1 ReplyPut simply is broken and unlikely to be fixed. Certainly a disadvantage for solo players

3 RepliesEdited by AO-Big_Simpin: 11/1/2018 10:06:24 AMFeels more like the matches are rigged! Load in as a solo with randoms & destroy 4 & 3 stacks Win a few games back to back & enemies take longer to kill & 1 shot cross map you I have reset my infamy twice & on my way to a third time & I can spot a losing match in the first couple of minutes EDIT - I loaded in once on my own after a few back to back wins against a full 4 opposition took till end of first round to get any teammates

1 ReplyA good old fashioned ranking system is whats needed, coupled with connection based matchmaking.(And servers) But Bungie is trying to be super clever all the time...
-
1 ReplyYou don’t like feeding highly skilled teams easy wins? Forming your own fire team isn’t likely to help if skill isn’t considered. It should be. There are some who never face opponents of like skill.
-
matchmaking will never fix getting stomped .

1 ReplyI don't think stacks matter as much as much as having someone who actually knows how to invade. I ran with a group of randoms the other night against a stack and luckily one of the guys on our team was great at PvP. He finished the game with like 20 guardian kills. Being good at PvP is the only thing that really matters in this mode.
-
5 RepliesHaving a 3-4 stack isn’t the problem. It’s people not knowing what to do,or just suck at PvE and PvP. Most people don’t understand it’s better to send a lot of little and medium blockers then one big one. I find a lot of randoms horde motes, and can’t tell when an invade is gonna happen. Then they do stupid crap that gets them killed. Some 3-4 stacks do the same.

1 ReplyEdited by Corrick II: 11/1/2018 7:26:57 AMToday was my breaking point. Got loaded into second-round losing matches and Sleeper-carrying 4-stacks all night. Lost every match. That’s a lot of wasted time for nothing. I feel sorry for my teammates from now on, I’m going to become a bounty-runner only. So much for taking this game mode seriously.

6 RepliesMatchmaking is definitely ruining my experience. That's the single biggest problem in this game currently. We shouldn't have to check the roster every game just to see if we will have a chance.
