Not trying to whine about people whining, just a genuine question. I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about the timegated Thunderlord quest, personally I don’t have an issue with that, but I just feel as though far more people are annoyed about this than any other timegated quest we’ve had before.

Edited by PattyMak696: 11/2/2018 3:35:58 PMNot gonna lie. I definitely had a "That was it?" moment after just buying ten engrams from Rahool. But I play daily so I'm not in a rush to get it knowing it's guaranteed. Besides, I just got Trinity Ghoul, Two Tailed Fox and Malfeasance this week and I'm still getting to know them. I'm excited though. Thunderlord was my first exotic in D1 and never left my side. Never dismantled it.
-
We'll all use it for two days and then never touch it again. I'm not really sure what all the complaining is about anyways.
-
1 ReplyI think by the time warmind came out, all the complainers had quit. But they came back with forsaken.
-
2 RepliesPolaris lens quest gave a reward for every part. First the legendary version. Then the masterworked version. Then the exotic. Then the catalyst.
-
At the time no one had used Polaris Lance. There was no connection/emotional attachment to the gun. The thunderlord is different. Much attachment very emotion!

Whisper... sleeper etc

People need to whine, guess it makes them feel better to whine and complain. I don't recall if Polaris Lance had this much whining, but since it's probably the exotic we all think it is, that could be the reason? TBH, each step nets you a powerful reward, so some just need to treat it like a milestone. It's good for people that are still leveling up, but I guess if your 600 you don't really care for that weekly drop. Me who cares if there are 6 steps and Thunderload drops, they have to update the sandbox probably to accommodate it when HMGs are brought back in December I think it is.
-
Don't see what difference it makes if it time gated or not really, it's just a cool exotic. Just the community moving on to the next thing to whine about.
-
lol it’s just this new generations gimmie now attitude. Calm down ppl. It’s ThunderLord. Not Ghorn. The game isn’t going anywhere.
-
1 ReplyWhile I do wish the thunder Lord quest wasn't time gated, I suppose I can wait a little I just really want to go to old Russia again, I couldn't care less about the gun, I just want a trip down memory lane with Ghost
-
Apart from pvp competitive complaints, there isn't much more people have to complain about. So, they have chosen to complain about this now. Once the complaints for this subside, a new topic will collectively be chosen to complain about. The Destiny merry-go-round. Once you're on it, you can't get off.
-
2 RepliesI'm much more annoyed that EP chest keys are timegated. Oh goody I have to wait a week to get a piece of armor I'm never going to use just to complete my collection.......yay...
-
1 ReplyThe PL quest dropped with a lot of other new content. We had plenty to do. This new quest dropped in a content drought. No comparison at all.
-
I think the problem is not that this particular quest is time gated, but that they keep doing it as a way to artificially extend content rather than putting together something that's worth a blam in the first place. I'm usually not someone to disparage the effort that goes into a game, but I feel like the repeated use of time gating is a show of weakness of the team in being able to get their thoughts out and into a quality experience. Either they are lacking or they are being held back by something. Neither is good.
-
3 RepliesI don't recall too many complaints about the time gating of that. Don't recall that many complaints over the time gating of Perfect Paradox either. Just a guess though. I think it comes down to what people are chasing, those weapons were released with their respective DLC's and they both included a hefty grind which was on top of the power grind people which would have kept most people pre-occupied. Releasing a quest as bare-bones as this when a lot of people have already either finished the grind or are sick of the grind and looking for something else to do probably is just bad timing. If it was released at the start of the FotL event, we would have had FotL grind and IB to keep ourselves pre-occupied which I think would have seen a lot less complaints.

More people complain about the Thunderlord being time gated because theres a bit of nostalgia to it. Plus, heavy exotics have always been fun. Exotic primary/energy like the polaris is a clear pass to many.
-
2 RepliesYeah, it's more that people got to use a legendary version of it. Also there was less stuff to do overall, so having something happen over time was welcomed.
-
1 Replyi actually enjoyed the polaris lance quest. I would like all exotics to be quest obtainable . Do you remember having to get a fire team together to kill the arc boss last to get the bolt caster or the void boss last to get dark drinker. Or having to have whatever it was ( I FORGOT ) to drop from krota for nechrocasim. My point is those were fun to do and the rewards felt better after you obtained them.
-
Polaris was a bit more involved if i remember. I think people are getting a bit carried away but at the same time it does feel a bit silly to be waiting for this mystery quest and being hyped up for two weeks to get...what we got.
-
The difference is that this a right slap in the face: 2 minute quest and then a weeks wait. If there was more of a process involved and a better transition to the next step then it would be easier to swallow.......right now it feels rushed and lazy.
-
Polaris Lance had more of an actual quest to it though. Plus people are starting to get tired of this shit
-
3 RepliesIt's not that it's timegated, just that the first step was completed in under 5 mins... Every step on PL was lengthy. Comparing apples to oranges.
-
1 ReplyI remember polaris lance being like an actual quest though. This reminds me of the chaperone quest in d1, where an actual quest step was “wait a week for the weapon to arrive”
-
The idea of “Step 2: wait a week” isn’t fun to me. Neither is “kill 100 of the same enemies that you’ve killed thousands of times already” mind you, but at least I’m doing SOMETHING. Spending two minutes on a glimmer extraction only to have to wait til next reset to see what to do next just plain sucks
-
9 RepliesNo, but probably because there wasn't this many active players then either.
-
This quest was supposed to go with the Festival of the Lost, but guess what it isn't a part of.
