Trials of the Nine was kind of a bust last season with only a ghost shell, ornaments, and 3 weapons to grind for. I feel like the intent of Trials is to be the ultimate end-game PVP content, like how it was in Destiny 1, but rewarding Valor instead of Glory lessens the importance/appeal of Trials and does not provide a majority of the player base enough incentive to play it, which is why the player pool was so low last season. The professionals with 5500 Glory will continue playing Comp, while the casuals will continue playing Quickplay.
I think if you rewarded/subtracted Glory points instead of Valor (or in addition to Valor), the player count in Trials would increase by a noticeable margin. There are a lot of players interested in Luna's Howl and Not Forgotten, but don't think it's possible to obtain them due to recoveries, not wanting to solo queue, etc. If players can chase Trials gear while at the same time climbing up the Glory ranks, I think they'll have more incentive to find some friends for a team and play Trials.

5 RepliesThe only way to "fix" Trials is to kill it with fire. That one playlist, and the people obsessed with it, has done more to ruin this franchise than every other bad decision Bungie has made in the last three years combined.

Trials is going to be total trash. Bungie has proven they do not have the ability to make a decent pvp game.

I like this idea. But it would be another hard deciding factor in people going to lfg. Instead of just looking at Trials stats for a player, they will then also decide if someone joins based on Glory points. You can have a solo player whos really good at pvp but never played comp and has no glory points, but they wont be at the top of the list for lfg because the people hosting the group will say "Oh, he doesnt have any Glory points. He sucks." Thats one issue that'll pop up.
