I find it funny, that if you join a clan you are required to join Discord and that's most of the clans that I see now require it, even the clan I was in went to discord and in a clan message they said, if people didn't join discord they were kicked from the clan. That's what the person of that clan said, and they gave a date also, Nov 1/2018. If you didn't join Discord before that date you where kicked, and after I saw that I left the clan. If you didn't join Discord you were kicked, I got nothing against Discord or the clans and the clans have a right to clear space, but I play Destiny a lot I helped the clan get to rank six but I find it a little more of nuisance that a clan wants and requires me to join Discord or I get kicked. I find that STUPID and it puts a sour taste in my mouth about clans now so, I stopped joining. So what do you think. Just to clarify this is in Destiny clans.

I don't know what discord is. But back when I played Neverwinter, our clan made people use something called line chat. That shit was annoying as -blam!-. Constantly getting notifications. Idk why people don't just use gamechat. It ain't that bad.

So join a clan that doesn't have this requirement.....

5 RepliesWow now people are complaining about Discord... bruh im done.. throwing in the towel.. Being in a clan is about being social as well not just collecting clan engram which YOU probally do.. good on them for giving you a date or you'll be kicked.. you not joining their discord shows how serious you are about their clan and you crying not to join shows you're only there for free clan engram

I'm with you. I'm on PS4 which has the option for text based communities as well as voice chat, and I find it ridiculous when people try to force some app on me. Now when it comes to PC gaming, I can see why an app that allows you to voice chat and/or communicate text based would be useful if the game doesn't have built-in features, but why force people to use something that has nothing to do with the game nor the gaming platform? It's the same when clans/guilds force you to joine their facebook group and what not. Just another case of people taking themselves, their clan and playing games too seriously.

1 Replyclan i'm in now required discord for entry. best app i've ever installed. the charlemagne bot can give you stats on everything from raid clear, nightfall scores, most used weapons in each mode, your most used weapons and how many kills you have with them, pvp, pve, and gambit stats. and thats not even including being able to have clan chat rooms for every imaginable activity, multible destiny clans can connect to one discord server, removing the 100 cap, meaning more people online, looking to do a wider variety of activities. i cant see a single downside to using discord. the bungie app is absolute garbage for clans.

If you're on XB1 the clan I am in doesn't require a discord. You just need to be active not super active just playing more than a handful of days a month. The clan is 15 Flames. Just message the clan leader Ascendent Mole. I know, I know I thought ascendences could only be obtained by aliens, humans, and evil worm things too. Until I met Ascendent Mole.

What I meant was clans in Destiny not a clan named Destiny clans just to clarify that.
That's what the person of that clan said
There's your problem. It's not personal, for you or them. I don't know if it's a destiny thing or just a thing in general now, but when I was in guilds etc, it was like a family. There was no benefit from it other than playing with your mates, you knew all the members. In fairness it was a ballache at times.

Edited by DearlyDpartd: 10/27/2018 10:49:41 PMWe have discord, but it's not required. Admins mainly use it to post updates and set up raid or other event groups. Not to mention all the gifying and emoji wars that go on lol.

Bungie should require Discord... Go ahead and burn this dumpster fire on down.

3 RepliesPlease edit your post and change the hashtag from #Offtopic to #Destiny, or #Destiny2 respectively, as you’ll likely receive a better response over there. For future reference, the Offtopic subforum is for threads that do not relate to video games. Threads that relate to Destiny, and/or Destiny2 belong in the Help, Feedback, Recruitment, Destiny, and Destiny 2 subforums respectively. I am sorry for this redirection, I will add a quart of lutefisk, so we have good feelings. :)
