Our guardian did not kill Uldren Sov
When Uldren kills Cayde with the ace of spades we hear the sound of the gunshot. And when Uldren is killed we hear another gunshot but it sounds nothing like the first gunshot.
Also I don’t think that our guardian and Petra both shot Uldren at the same time ’cause the ace of spades makes so distinct sound when fired that we should have been able to recognize it even if Petra shot her gun at the same time.
Petra also very clearly hints that it was her who killed uldren ’cause when she gives us the vestian dynasty she something like this: ”Take this, it’s the gun that... Well you know, nothing left to say about that.

We did kill Uldren. Listen to the shot at the end. It was both the Vestian Dynasty AND the Ace Of Spades.

I'm upset they didn't let us pull the trigger. My hunter wouldn't have hesitated. Even more fitting to do it with Cayde's gun.

Your kind of missing the point with all this, the fade to black was to let the player decide who shot Uldren

1 ReplyThe gun sound theory is interesting. Gunshots are the sound made when the pressurized gas escapes because the bullet has left the barrel of the gun, which can change based on the length of the barrel and the type of gun. Even if the outside of the gun is damaged there is no reason that the sound would be different, plus even if it was, Ace of Spades make a very distinct sound. The first Cayde death video and game cutscene both have Ace of Spades making relatively the same noise, while Uldren death the shot is different. I listened to the gunshot for his death and it does sound like there is a regular gun and some type of laser gun, Petra's, being fired at the same time. If it was just a regular gun shot I would say we didn't fire the bullet, but there is definitely a second shot that sounds like Vestian Dynasty, and I don' think Bungie would have Petra and some random guy that's not you shoot Ulren at the same time. The loud shot is probably for effect.

It’s both weapons shooting together, audio test has been carried out it was in the forums a while back

I’ve thought that it was two shots at the same time, one from Vestian Dynasty and one from Ace of Spades. The sound has the volume and crack of Ace of Spades which is too loud for Vestian Dynasty. There is also the distinct sci-fi ‘wap’ noise, quieter than Ace of Spades and only made by energy weapons, which can only be Petra’s sidearm. If this is the case i think it was the right choice from Bungie, as it leaves room for two outcomes. Players who were out for Uldrens blood could believe they killed him and players who didn’t want to kill him could believe that as well.

Hypothetically, the change in sound is because of venue. Uldren kills Cayde in a very claustrophobic, metal area, which would make the shot echo and ring a bit more. Whereas Uldren falls in a high-ceiling, stone antechamber. Much less reverberation. The shot sounds similar to the rounds fired at the Shard of the Traveler.

1 Reply....mind is now blown. But granted that the Ace does make a different sound. It could be that Ace was damage and infected by being around Uldren. The sound of Ace could have change since we repaired it. Right?
