There are certain weapons within Gambit that truly give an unfair advantage to players who have an IQ of over 76. Weapons like the Sleeper Simulant and Queen Breakers Bow are seemingly designed for players who can't hit the broad side of a barn but are given weapons WITH the hitbox size of a broad side of a barn.
Weapons that perform well in PVE, like the 1,000 voices and Ikelos Shotgun make melting the prime evil and effortless task. Any team with a higher Focus on PVE can make up any deficit by abusing these weapons and melting the prime evil before the invasion portal opens. Blockers have also become a useless mechanic as Ikelos deals with all 3 types within 2-4 shots with Trench Barrel Active. What's the point of taking the risk to gather 15 motes only to be invaded on and killed by sleeper behind a "wall" or only to have a taken Ogre that took two whole rotations to get only to be melted by an Ikelos in less than a second.
I propose banning these weapons to produce a level playing field within gambit. Although weapons that are banned on the PvP side will only force players to gravitate to the next best thing, nothing will ever be as broken as Queen Breakers, 1,000 voices, or Sleeper Sim when invading. On the PvE side, however, players will be forced to use normal weapons that will require them to use more strategy when fighting Prime Evils as an opposed to just applying melting point and watching the boss disintegrate at the top of your screen.
All of these weapons are in a good place within PvE and nerfing them is not the answer.
I would like to conclude that Gambit is the most fun I've had within Destiny2 since its launch and I only want to see it improve.

1 ReplyJust reduce heavy ammo gain. It is pretty crazy for someone to invade and shoot off 10 shots of sleeper
-
People like you get muted...
-
How about we can players? Let's start with crybabies like yourself
-
This is why we can't have nice things.
-
Banning? Lol you are obviously too weak in the head to play anything online
-
Just quit playing. Problem solved
-
Get out.
-
Maybe, don’t gather 15 motes?
-
Ban guns. The team with the most positive thoughts banked wins.
-
and how are we going to get *bleep* done?
-
This would be a good way to kill gambit off
-
No thanks
-
Hell No !
-
The weapons are available for all players in the game to get. Do the content and get rewarded. Don't complain because you didn't play the last expansion and get EP or sleeper. They even made it easier to get now
-
Uses sniper... "Ban that too" -blam!- you.
-
These weapons are available for everyone to acquire. Why should a well coordinated team be punished for using efficient weapons?
-
Lol no
-
How about we ban you instead?
-
Lol Seriously??

2 RepliesThis is not it. If Bungie did this it would look like they're trying to control the way you play. Who cares if people are using their best weapons for Gambit? They're trying to win so it's understandable. If YOU want to play a certain way, go right ahead. But don't try to inflict that kind of rigidity on everyone just because you're a little upset about weapon diversity in gambit lol.

They have the data, ban the top 5 most used weapons and see what else people use and make needs/buffs from that data, if only for a week as a purely data gathering exercise. I think it would mix things up, even if EP shotty is changed to bad lander and sleeper to whisper, just makes a bit of a change.

All of these weapons are in a good place within PvE and nerfing them is not the answer.
If by "a good place" you mean "the overwhelmingly obvious choice for pretty much every activity in the game" then yeah. I always find it amusing when I play with my clan mates. Pretty much all of them run Ikelos shotgun + Sleeper. Doesn't matter what we're doing. Gambit, raid, strikes, Festival of the Lost, Crucible, whatever. That's what they run. And I can see why. These weapons are exceptionally powerful. So much so that using anything else is effectively handicapping yourself. It's the Gjallarhorn problem all over again. Clearly the game was balanced around the average weapons and these just render all content trivial. I hate to call for nerfs but these weapons are obviously out of place compared to the rest of the game.

2 RepliesGambit is 50% PvE based. Why should players not be able to use good PvE weapons in it? That’s the point of having good PvE weapons. That’s like banning Luna’s Howl in crucible (not saying they should do that, my telesto is better anyway)

3 RepliesWhere does it shop though? Ban sleeper? How about the Whisper? Then what about the EP shotty? Then what about the perfect paradox? Do you ban guns with a major spec mod because that increases boss damage? Then do you ban teather? Melting point titans? Well of radiance? What about armour? Shard of galanor? Surely that should go and the Titan shield equivalent. Point is as soon as you ban one good thing people will move to the new best thing. There will never be an end to it until you’ve got us all going in melee only and then you’ll be moaning because one class has a better melee range than another.

Play smart. After summoning your primeval kill the envoys but do no damage to the primeval. Wait for the enemy team to invade. Kill the enemy invader (if he kills any of you it won’t matter because the primeval is already at full health). Now hit the primeval with a hammer strike. Then all everyone’s supers (blade barrage, arc strider, nova bomb, chaos reach, etc.) Boss dies in 1-3 seconds.
