Hello. Thank you for your report.
I see that you've done a lot of troubleshooting already, so I'll go straight to this with hopes that it will help. It does appear to be an installation issue.
1. Completely uninstall both Destiny 2 and the Battle.net application
2. Delete the following local cache/settings directories:
- %PROGRAMDATA%\Battle.net
– %APPDATA%\Battle.net
– %LOCALAPPDATA%\Battle.net
– %APPDATA%\Bungie\DestinyPC
*WARNING* Deleting these will cause you to lose persisted settings, such as logged in users, keybinds and graphics settings in Destiny, etc.
The directory names above are actual paths that can be used in Windows Explorer. For example, if you enter "%PROGRAMDATA%" in the Windows Explorer address bar, it will automatically take you to C:\ProgramData (default), which is a hidden directory.
3. Reinstall the Battle.net app and Destiny 2
Might there be a problem on your end? Anything weird going on with my characters or profile?
-
Alright. It took a while to redownload but unfortunately, this didn't work. The exact same issue. Open, see GUI animation for a split-second before game freezes/locks up. Anything else I could try before I completely nuke everything?
-
Hi again. Would you mind to link me your DxDiag?
-
Alright, here's a pastebin with the full details.
-
Thank you. Are you able to revert back your driver to when the game was working? I know that might seem counter-productive, but we might not yet be optimized for it yet.
-
I've tried, and that brings up other issues. But if you think that is the cause, I'd be happy to wait. I really just want some closure on what might be causing the issue, and if its not on my end I'm okay with that.
-
How long have you waited on the frozen screen? It's possible it could be loading things in the background. Do you use a wired or wireless connection?
-
Don't worry about it. Something ticked or updated somewhere, and now both games work. Who the hell knows what happened. I really appreciate your patience though.
-
Happy to help. Glad this has resolved for you!
-
I'll give it a shot and get back to you.

Not to be "that guy" here or anything but wouldn't the fact that he's done a new OS installation rule out an issue with the game install? I mean that's sort of the "reboot the universe" option imo.
-
nah i reinstalled os but keeping personal files- the reboot the universe option is wiping literally everything and reinstalling os on top of that, which i will do as a last resort

Ah, that's generally what I do if I get the point of re-installing the OS - keeping personal files has never fixed much so I just assumed that's what you did. Hope you get it figured out.
