That’s not hard to say, truthfully. As a Guardian, what do we have to fear? We cannot die as long as our ghost lives so that makes us reckless. If we are ever injured our ghost heals us. It’s almost like a fake confidence, while in reality, if it wasn’t for that little light we’d never leave those walls. So what can I say? I forgot what fear was. But stepping into that prison, you could practically smell it. Screams of Fallen, Hive, Cabal, and Vex, practically begging to be set free as I walked by. Corrupted ether trails faintly left behind from the escape, making every Fallen stand back from their cells, not wanting to be anywhere near it. It took hours to find a good amount that was potent enough to use. It was right in front of a Fallen Dreg, the only one who didn’t seem to fear it. It glanced up at me and looked away, the only one to seem to have accepted its fait as it muttered a language I couldn’t understand under its breath. He forgot what fear was, just like me. It was a practical law to forget what fear was. But they knew it, and while some accepted it, most denied it. It gave them power. So I did what I thought was right. I opened its cell. “You should be free. Someone like you who has accepted your fate should be free from Hell.” It looked confused as it picked up its banner, a Fallen banner I’ve never seen before. “I don’t know if you understand me or not. But your mark, banner, whatever it is... It’s one of a kind for me. Rebuild, and see if any Guardians will ever accept someone like you, someone who has accepted the Law of Darkness.” It nodded at me, acting as if it understood, so I threw it a gun and left. It had every chance to shoot me, but it didn’t. I made a new kind of pack with Darkness that day. Regret or enjoy, I have yet to find out.
