Cayde isn't dead. (How many times have you heard that?)

I'm sure many people have said this, whether it's denial or wishful thinking, but what I propose has evidence. Look at the sealed ahamkara grasps for the hunter. It's lore tab reads: "...A pair of truths and a single falsehood upon the Bearer we shall impart. Brother, ally once more, sends his regards. Dreamer, awakened, the Bearer shall meet. Light fades, deep within the Prison." The brother is Osiris, (warlocks often refer to each other as brother/sister, especially the cult of Osiris) who has returned and redeemed himself thus once again becoming an ally. The dreamer is either nokris/xol awoken from inside the ice, or it's Rasputin. I think it's more likely nokris & xol as Rasputin didn't really have a dream. The light in the prison is obviously cayde's death. However one of these are false. We definitely know that Osiris came back, and the hive/Rasputin definitely woke up, that leaves... Of course this isn't definitive proof, seeing as these three phrases from the ahamkara could be taken in different ways, for example the dreamer could have nothing to do with the warmind expansion and it is in fact the falsehood. But I think it's fair to say this is a decent argument for cayde's survival.

  •
But I think it's fair to say this is a decent argument for cayde's survival. Strictly speaking, we didn't actually see him die.
Is this bait? We straight up see him die in front of our eyes. And "brother" is clearly Uldren, even though "prick" would've been a better word to describe him in the tab.

  • Cayde is dead but if you want to know how he comes back just looks at the "oh captain my captain" missions on Nessus. Then look at how one of the nodes on Nessus reacts to exos like cayde. It's pretty obvious how he's going to be coming back.

  • Nathan Fillion got a better job. He’s starring in a new show called “The Rookie”. It’s a cop comedy/drama show where he plays a 40 year old rookie. So, no. Cayde is gone for good.

      • I am the Warden Servitor. I am in possession of the exo called Cayde 6. The Vanguard were given a replacement shell which was produced in the Prison of Elders. I am currently working in tandem with the Vex here in the Prison in an attempt to Frankenstein Cayde back to "life". I am the Warden Servitor.

      • Can’t he come back as Cayde 7? I don’t get this (not that knowledgeable on the lore) but aren’t exos just robots? Just recover their memory from a backup?

People have already told you that you're wrong, but let me tell you why you're wrong. The Brother is not Osiris. You say that Warlocks refer to each other as brother and sister, which just isn't true. And even if it were, it would make no sense for Brother to mean Osiris. Osiris is never identified as a brother, even in this metaphorical sense, because he's an exile. Guess who is someone's brother? Uldren. Guess who's someone's brother, who also happens to be related to the Prison of Elders, and whose sole personality trait is his obsession with his sister, and was also previously only known as "The Queen's Brother". Uldren. Also, Osiris literally has no connection at all to the Cult that sprang up around him, so the cult members referring to each other as brother and sister is not something he'd be a part of anyway. The Dreamer is not Nokris, Xol, or Rasputin for the reason you already gave. All three of these characters have nothing to do with dreams, they are never associated with dreams, they are never mentioned to dream. Dreaming has nothing to do with all 3 of these characters. The Dreamer is most likely Riven, who we definitely did meet, and is referred to as the dreamer a few times in the lore. Also, Dreaming City. Other people have interpreted the Dreamer as Mara, which I suppose also fits, but like Riven she has never really been associated with dreams in anyway. The fact that Riven is actually called a dreamer a few times cements it as her to me. Light fades deep within the prison. Cayde dies. So, as we look back at this: Cayde died. That's true. We met Riven, that's true too. You know what's false? I don't know about you, but I don't think Uldren ever turned out to be our ally.

          • Cayde does happen to be in a robotic body. If the memory core is intact I don't see why they can't toss it into a new body and ignite his systems with a bit of light. I think tbh that Rasputin dreamed of freedom, to glide among the stars until he loses count of the eons passing.

          • You know, after thinking about it, the “Brother, ally one more, sends his regards” is somewhat true. Uldren is cured from the Riven affliction after we kill the VoR, and one of his last lines is him basically regards us as an aspect of evil (The line between Light and Dark is so very thin...). I would say that matches the description rather well. The Dreamer is either Mara or Riven, both of which we meet (unless that Mara is a fake too). So the Dreamer line is true. That leaves the last one as a lie. Cayde therefore lives if this interpretation is correct.

            • The dreamer is mara sov, notice how it says
awakened
on top of the fact that mara created the dreaming city. Our guardian is obviously the bearer. We meet mara, this is a truth, caydes light faded within the prison of elders, this was a truth.
Brother ally once more
is uldren who was an ally when he revealed the location of the black garden to us, but since his corruption by riven this would now be a lie. 2 truths and a lie. All have come to pass.

                • I believe the iteration shown of Cayde is dead, somehow we could see Cayde again if we for whatever reason have to travel back in time via vex tech.........we could potentially prevent the events of forsaken ever happening if its an avenue Bungie want to take Destiny in the future, hell we could even go back further and prevent all of the events from Destiny even occuring if we managed to time travel

                      • I think brother is supposed to refer to Uldren, that being the falsehood. The Dreamer’s identity is another question altogether, though I’ve heard a theory that it’s the Traveler.

I stilll don't believe that's actually Mara Sov. Plus isn't it the "Brother, ally once more, sends his regards" that is the falsehood? As he was not our ally, ever. Not truly.
