What happens to factions?
Anyone else remember trying to rank up your factions? Having something to represent and be a part of something. I always preferred dead orbit mostly for the black and white shaders. Why did they think faction wars was a good idea? Why did they choose not to keep them around? Would anyone else like to see them return? I’m not complaining or anything just bring up a random topic I had in mind.

Let me bring some life back into this issue even though it's been over a year. Destiny factions were top notch giving players top notch cosmetics and weapons to blow the enemies into the next DLC. Keep in mind there was the class exotic items such as the Titan's mark, Warlock's bond, and Hunter's cloak. Destiny 2 faction rally was ruined to begin with just picking one then donating tokens/coins for a faction to win. Yea there were saving tokens and such. But that didn't have the feel of being motivated on doing them at times. There was exploit during a faction rally heading to Trostland's first Lost Sector under the church. Fast forward to another rally was picking on that had catalyst for three specific weapons. Sunshot, Graviton lance, Sweet business. After Faction rally ended I along with others were disappointed in Bungie not bring them back. Fast forward to Shadowkeep. Bungie (departed from Activision) could have figured a way to put in factions like allowing them to be similar back in Destiny. Unless factions were part of contract during the time Bungie and Activision were engaged with. I still believe factions should have made a come back with gear rather than weapons for aesthetics purposes. It would be nice if our faction rally armor was introduced into the upgradeable armor 2.0 in Shadowkeep.

Factions went from organizations that you joined in game and could grind and rank up with their representative vendor at any time and work towards getting their stuff , to cheap uninspired activities, and then later on into even more cheap uninspired activities with, you guessed it, a crappy debuff you had to carry along even if you weren't doing a faction rally activity until you went to orbit or fast traveled . Finally it's always peeved me that there is no real story to the factions, they are just a vendor and or a once in a while event with no real story to them other than a brief summary about them that is shorter than the summary on the back of a DVD case for a movie. Nobody is invested truly in the factions, materialistically or ideologically, and that there isn't that much to their lore is a shame.

Always active, always ranking up with bounties etc. They should have a rotating stock of wepons, armor, shaders, emblems, etc. And ofcourse, you should be able to pledge each character to diferent factions. Faction Wars (Rally? Whatever...) should be an event like Iron Banner. When the event comes up you would pick up an item that would lock that character to a faction for the week. Yes, you can pledge different characters to different factions. Say you pledge your warlock to Dead Orbit. You would then go to the Faction War in crucible. You would be teamed up with other Dead Orbit guardians and face off with a team full of FWC or New Monarchy. Wins earn points for your faction. At the end of the event the faction with the most points gets a prize package of mw cores, uniqe wepons, etc. There could even be a big score board at the tower to show the ranking of each faction. Just my rough around the edges idea to make factions relevant again.

The way they did factions in Destiny 1 was far better than in 2. With factions, vanguard and shax having weapons and armor and more to grind for was fun and you had more options for the look of your characters. Everything in Destiny 2 is bland when comparing to Destiny 1.

Glad they are reworking them. Hopefully will be a permanent thing like in D1 when they come back.

The are saving it for when everyone leaves D2 again. They’re more worried about daily and weekly log in numbers than keeping content in the game. I’m guessing year 1 weapons will make a reappearance in the next dlc as well.

1 ReplyThey said that they took the faction rallies away for a while along with trials, because they felt that neither of those events were unique or interesting enough, so they will eventually be brought back at an unknown date
