Polaris Lance Catalyst

Hey everyone, so for the catalyst and the perfect fifth kills i know people say the burn damage has to kill them, but with my perfect 5th shot it only does the explosion but doesn't burn after. What can i do?

There are some excellent Youtube videos about how to complete this catalyst. Those vids helped me big time. Fingers crossed for you.
