I was wandering if ammo regeneration will ever return, it gave the game a sense of flex in your gear. Plus it made the specific exotic that had ammo regeneration a sought after weapon. The ammo regen gave the "Guardian Light" some other purpose other than just keeping us alive. The lore can be that the Traveler has blessed the Guardians with more power to fight the darkness in the form of further weaponizing the Light.
