Ok, so I'm sure others have suggested some of these ideas or ones that are similar, however right now destiny 2 really seems like it’s lacking in creative content. I'll try not to go to much in depth to the problems that still plague the game currently (I think others have done a decent job explaining them ;P), however I do have some suggestions that might help create more excitement for the game at least as far as weapons are concerned.
Whenever I get the hankering to play some D1, I am still overwhelmed at the sheer amount of truly fun weapons I have to choose from. Whether it's never running out of ammo and making enemies explode with the ice breaker, using any of the exotic swords, or even some of the awesome raid guns (looking at you genesis chain) there was never a time when I was bored with my weapons. Now destiny 2 does have some great new additions (I mean who doesn't love the bow), still D2 definitely feels like it is lacking on this front. One important suggestion I would really recommend is STOP RECYCLING EXOTICS FROM D1. Sorry for that being in all caps, but I really feel if Bungie employee only reads one line from this, I hope it is that one. I believe that is one big creative difference between D1 and D2. The creative team in D1 had to come up with completely new concepts and new perks for weapons. They couldn't just use things from a previous destiny game. I guess to be fair they did have their experience with Halo to fall back on, but not to the point where they were taking the same weapons from Halo and tweaking them slightly to put into D1. And yes you could argue the point of Telesto being like the Needler in Halo as one example where they do recycle Halo content, however the feel, look, and behavior of the weapon have all been changed enough for it to feel like its own unique gun in the Destiny universe. Look, I know using weapons like the Ace of Spades, Black Spindle, or Sleeper Simulant are a lot of fun and bring back some nostalgia, but they also inhibit creativity. If you really want D2 to feel like it's own stand alone Destiny game then you need to make new content for it. I mean I want to use weird Vex weapons like the Mythoclast or unique taken weapons like the Touch of Malice I'm not saying I want those guns back specifically, rather I want to see that kind of creativity applied to new weapons in the game again. Why not let us use exotic versions of the weapons of our enemies? Don't get me wrong Lord of Wolves will always be my favorite shotgun of all time, but I would still have preferred it stay in D1 to see new and exciting weapons in its place. I have always wanted to use guns like the Vex sniper or the Hive Knight grenade launcher ever since I saw them in Destiny 1. On a side note: one other idea I had for a new exotic weapon would be dual sidearms, maybe even make each sidearm a different element. Sorry sometimes my thought process can be a bit random. =)
One thing I have always wondered about is why Bungie didn't keep expanding on melee weapons. When they first introduced swords in Destiny 1 I felt like they opened Pandora's Box when it came to melee weapons in the heavy slot (but I guess they just opened it enough to peek inside =P). I would love to see things like flails, axes, lances, spears, tridents, etc..., you have so many options. I know they have weapons with supers (you know hammer Titans, arcstaffed Hunters, or sword throwing Warlocks), but that doesn't mean you can't have more melee weapons in general. And speaking of swords, please make better swords. D2 swords feel like butter knives compared to anything in D1, however I will recognize that there are some fun swords like It Stared Back, Quickfang, Crownsplitter, and although I don't have it yet the new exotic sword Black Talon looks like it could be fun (although it also looks life it's just a void version of the Bolt-Caster). Personally if I was in charge of making the Black Talon I would design it so that instead of blocking the sword would instead have the ability to suck enemies or players toward it using sword ammo. It also couldn't hurt for Bungie to expand on legendary weapons as well. If I see more weapons (and armor) being recycled by just painting them a different color and giving it slightly different perks, I might just have to call it quits for good. Say what you will about Dark Below, House of Wolves, and Taken King, but they were never that lazy with their weapons (and armor). That practice didn't start until Rise of Iron and has been a staple for Bungie content ever since, unfortunately.
One last quick thing I wanted to suggest that would be an awesome little quality of life thing is to have the ability to select multiple weapons and armor at once and do a mass dismantle. I mean how is this not a part of your game yet. I really hate having to go through each blue, purple, or stupid duplicate exotic and dismantle them one at a time. So many other games are doing this, and it has been driving me crazy since the game launched. You could even use L3 to select them; doesn't do anything on the character screen anyway. Sorry to rant there, but seriously...
Anyway those are just some of the ideas I have had lately and throughout the time I have played Destiny. On the off chance a Bungie employee actually reads this (and I seriously doubt it) I'm not trying to complain too much or be overly negative, but I just want to help improve the game in some small way.
