cR Farming and Commendation-Maxing Guide

The guide will not update regularly anymore. k thainx.
It isn't necessary to max out commendations past Onyx aside from satisfaction, no cR will be rewarded at that point. To check what the requirements for each commendations are click here and for credit value here.

All campaign farming techniques should have scoring on and iron should never be turned on.

Farming works best on live so turn it on and don't be afraid to show off the progress.I'm serious

For the bright eggs in the crowd resetting challenges and commendations known to you as "unplugging your ethernet cable." is a bannable offense

Posted by: Condas Egera When you complete an action in campaign you receive a set number of cr for each commendation involved. When those commendations reach silver the cr per action is removed. People know you receive less every time but this is why. For instance, that cut scene method involves 2. One yields 150, the other 50. This is why it goes from 200 to 50 than 0.
Gruntpacolypse:To do this go to Matchmaking-Firefight-Score Attack- then proceed to Gruntpacolypse on the desired map, the map i use is Corvette but you can pick your poison. Commendations: Varying between maps you might be able to get more but credits that are full proof on all maps for this method are: Longshot- Kill with a precision weapon (DMR) Numbers Game-multikills Methodical- any type of spree Dome Inspector-Headshots Target Practice- Kill infantry-class enemies *Trigger Happy- Kill with small arms -------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: You should average between 1000-1200 between games with getting additional Cr for the commendations completed within the round. the games will average at around 10 minutes so after a while it does get boring but, this will be played for longterm so should be saved last since other methods go faster.*adding the pistol every so often adds up for trigger happy thanks to Maytch and if corvette isn't your style try checking this video out for a quick step by step on Holdout.

TacoHalo: Your kill is my kill at least with the AIs it is, a perfect collection of teamwork founded by no other than TacoHalo himself. Load up Long Night of Silence from mission start(yes the space level), no skulls, on normal. Now storm the beaches. Kill everything in your path and follow the shore till you hit the pier where a dropship will leave a nice wraith for you. Take out the gunner and jump in the turret to make the elite pop out of the drivers seat, after he gets out kill him too, this is to make sure that the wraith is for the most part damage free. Take the wraith back to the beach and boost around the rocks to go up to the facility and proceed to the sandbags and clear the area till you get the checkpoint and turn around facing the beach to get another checkpoint and whether or not you want one a marine will or should have already taken the position of the turret. Just let your AI buddy take out the covenant to get the following commendantions: Leadership Element- Kill a leader-class enemy Spec Ops- Kill a specialist-class enemy War Machine-Kill with your vehicle Cannon Fodder-Kill an infantry-class enemy --------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: I hadn't even tried the method and when first told about it thought it was stupid and immediately dismissed it and others followed, but one brave soul tried it and with great satisfaction, according to Pixel Push3r this method averages out to 4 kills a covie and even with dying the method reloads you back to the checkpoint so it naturally becomes a safe easy ride that can be done for the times where you just need a break and sleep in between the tough stuff, for a better retelling go here.

Flawless Cowboy: otherwise known as the cutscene glitch or cutscene farming. I've only done it on Winter Contingency a couple of times but i can say this as a fact, difficulty between legendary and heroic does nothing, skulls do nothing. The level has to be loaded from start. Play through the entire level, go to the room where you and Jorge will kill the zealot and then push the button to activate the cutscene. Almost 3-4 second after you push the button press start and click "save and quit". you get you Cr hen go back into the menu and resume game. as if god answered your prayers no playing just more Cr. as anyone would guess the affected commendation is: Flawless Cowboy-complete a level on heroic or harder without dying Demon-complete a level --------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: To ONYX the commendation you need to do this 300 times, the Cr for the commendation goes up but, for level completion it gradually goes down. It will proceed from 200 to 50 and most likely will gradually get lower, its one that isn't worth doing for too long, it take about 30 second to do it (because of loading) so anyone could do this in a quick 3 hour sitting and proceed to something greater. To put your hearts at ease

ONI Sword Base: I'm pretty sure this is the method that started all the controversy of Cr Farming. Now to start this level off let's add some skulls. "1.Cowbell" and "2.Thunderstorm" along with any additional desired skull should be used for this particular method. 1.big explosions 2.promote the covenant troops to higher ranks When the level starts run up the right ramp, don't fight the elite and run pass him and drop to the grassy ledge so you can proceed around the corner(don't stay on the ledge there is this light thing that gets in the way and the grunts just pretty much destroy you, but after that it's ok to get back on the ledge). run down into the "barricade" and pick up the target locator, if the check point came already no big deal but if it didn't then proceed to get it and back up against the slanted door, wait for the check point to finish then aim for the cluster of covenant troops to get a barrage(10 or more) of kills. don't bother doing it again because you'll activate another checkpoint just reload to the previous check point and repeat, over and over again till you ONYX the following commendations: Splash Damage- Kill an enemy with a heavy weapon Walking Tank- Earn a multikill Super Soldier- Earn any type of spree Leadership Element- Kill a leader-class enemy Spec Ops- Kill a specialist-class enemy --------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: Aside from getting the checkpoint right if that's what you care about this method goes in varying speeds, some commendations will be taken out incredibly fast while others will be much slower. Splash Damage will obviously be taken out first but others like Spec Ops and Leadership Element will feel like an eternity and you'll probably not bother with it. It's best to get this done and out of the way so you can proceed to actually having fun as it does get to feel slow.

Banshee: There are many places to kill the banshee or any other vehicular type covenant troop. I'll show you two that work as to my knowledge with the commendations being: Right of Way-Destroy a vehicle War Machine-Kill with your vehicle 1.Long Night Of Solace- Alpha Checkpoint, go to the cruiser and blow an engine to activate the checkpoint, after that go beneath the cruiser to find a nest of birds waiting to be taken out, revert the checkpoint. lather rinse repeat. 2.Pillar of Autumn-Raly Point Bravo the very last part where you take control of the big gun kill as many phantoms, spirits, and banshees. It's safe to assume if it flies you should kill it. kill as many things before the covenant cruiser shoots and revert to last checkpoint. 3.New Alexandria- just fly around and destroy, no checkpoints no limits just search and destroy the endless supply of banshee -------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: Never tried this method yet but heard it's effective, for pillar of autumn i'm not sure if you'll get the war machine commendation but it seems like it'll go by pretty fast with Right of Way.

Nice Arm.A: On Winter Contingency run past everything to the jeep(get stickies) drive to where the spirit drops off a load of grunts (get out just before to activate the checkpoint), then get kills with one throw of the grenade and enjoy the benefits, revert to the last checkpoint and resume. This can also be done in Gruntpacolypse Nice Arm.B: Pretty much any where you can find a grenade will help but along with Winter Contingency you can also perform this back at Oni Sword Base, but instead of using your target locator your using the mighty throw of a baseball play, although this probably won't take out the big elites you'll get the grunts in between or you can work at both at the same time. Nice Arm-kill with a grenade --------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: credit for this goes to RABBIT 00 and Maytch,. •
Posted by: MonkeyFishXD Wall-o-text
Let me clarify points about Crashsite. -This mode is great for several commendations. Those include: Get Loud, Numbers game, Longshot, Specialized, In Command, Riflin' Through, and if the map has turrets, Vehicular. -One life, increased damage resistance and output, Infinite ammo, DMR + magnum start, Overshielded, one of the 3 random generators chosen. -My personal favorite maps for this mode are Courtyard and Holdout. Corvette can be rather troubling as the generators are usually blindly out in the open. -Skirmishers always drop in from the second wave on, Elites drop in on 4th and 5th waves, Brutes in 3rd only, Jackals in 2nd only, and just grunts in the 1st. -I've averaged about 60 multikill medals per completed game when i can get ahold of an explosive weapon, and credits earned hover around 1100 a complete game.

 • Here's one that takes a certain amount of skill, but can level up the Get Loud, Numbers Game, Pull the Pin, Methodical, Specialized, Target Practice, Perfectionist and Vehicular(if the map has turrets) Commendations at a decent pace. This method is actually just as good as Gruntpocalyse. I call it Monkey See Monkey Do. It is hard at first but once you understand how to play the games, it does become easier. First load up Score Attack on FireFight Matchmaking and pick either Crashsite or Sniper Fight you get roughly around 1500 - 4000 cR. I'm not too sure on exactly how much you can get but it makes ranking up a lot easier. It's more fun than Gruntpocalyse in my opinion because it's like a combo of rocketfight in score attack. This method is a fun and easy way to farm credits. What You Want to do: - Weapons of Choice: The Fuel Rod,Concussion Rifle, and Plasma Launcher are probably the best guns to have when farming because you can get a lot of multi kills. It makes getting a Killionaire a whole lot easier. On average Every clip fired should get you at least a triple or higher depending on the pack of Covenant you fired at. Make sure you have two of the three listed above because the splash damages are better for getting those multi kills. Remember you have infinite ammo so you never have to worry about conserving your ammo. Remember you should have two of these three weapons at all times to make things easier. Also if you have grenades use them for the Pull the Pin Commendation. The DMR and Pistol isn't really something you should use in these game types becaue you have infinite ammo, it's time to put them down and be a NOOB!!! But seriously though save those guns for Gruntpocalyse. - Armor Abilities: Depending on whether you chose Sniper Fight or Crashsite the armor ability you should choose varies. For Sniper Fight I personally think Armor Lock or Drop Shield works the best. Let me explain the reason is because the best way to obtain the most credits is by surviving longer. When you have a -blam!- load of covenants firing at you armor lock makes it so you can buy yourself some time to retaliate. Drop Shield works great when enemies are attacking from a distance. It gives you some room to breathe and heals you health so you don't have to run back for a health pack. Sprint, Evade, and Jet Packs are not as useful for surviving but you be the judge of that. Now for Crashsite, you have a generator to defend and you have only one life so your probably wondering "MonkeyFish, what do Armor Ability do I use?" Well my answer to that is Sprint. Although you want to be defensive and survive, you have a generator to defend. Sprint makes life easier because it allows you to move around much faster. What you want to do if camp around the phantom drop ship and fire your weapons at the group earning you multi kills. But at the same time they might drop off more than one area so what do you do? You Sprint to the area and kill them off as well. At the same time you have to keep your ears open because when you hear the alarm you have to get back to you generator to lock it down so that the covenant doesn't destroy your objective. The Final reason Sprint is effective is because when you running low on health you Sprint to find a health pack so you can continue your destruction on the covenant armada. - Recommended Maps: Crashsite Farming: One life increased damage resistance and output, Infinite ammo one of the 3 random generators chosen.
Posted by: Rotagila88 Pick either Courtyard, Corvette, Outpost, or Holdout for Crashsite (They by far have the best generator positions). As soon as the game begins, go and kill a grunt with a fuel rod gun and take it.Then, lock the generator and kill the rest of the grunts. At the beginning of each wave, lock the generator and go camp by one of the phantoms; you should get no less than a killtrocity when you kill the squad that jumps out of the phantom.Repeat for each wave. Since you have unlimited ammo, do extra damage, and have an overshield, it is extremely easy to get multikills (I average about 60+ multikills a game and 100+ fuel rod kills). Once you get into the rhythm of this method, it becomes extremely easy.
Corvette Might seem easier to do BUT it's actually not you MUST be carful because you life can drop faster than you can say oops. Corvette can be rather troubling as the generators are usually blindly out in the open. Sniper Fight Farming: For this one I recommend playing on Courtyard. The reason is because the map is very simple and easy to remember. My tip is after you get your power weapons stay to the far left on the upper area. This area allows you to fire on the enemies on the lower level while giving you cover. Remember is doesn't give you full protection but it makes life easier. Also remember to check the left and right in case enemies try to ruin your kill streaks. When your low on health head to this corner and drop your Drop Shield to regain some health. - Waves of Enemies to Look Out For: This is for both Game Types. The first wave of enemies you encounter should be Grunts. Kill them off and look for one or two of the weapons listed above. You should be able to find either a Fuel Rod, Plasma Launcher, or Both!. The Fuel Rod is your Primary Weapon!!! don't ever be without it!! The second wave should be Jackals and Skirmishers. Now these guy would normally be hard because of their shields but your Fuel Rod or Plasma Launcher makes quick work of these guys. The Third Wave is composed of Brutes and Skirmishers. Brutes are no problem with you weapons but the Skirmishers WILL give you a problem if your not careful. Now during the Third Wave is when you have a chance to find a Concussion Rifle. Use it if you want because it's one of the Three Weapons you should use. The Fourth Wave is Skirmishers and Sanghelli. Take my Advice and Take them out ASAP it makes things SOOO MUCH EASIER. The Fifth Wave is Different. But the one thing they have in common is Sanghelli or Elites. In Sniper Fight they come with Hunters and in Crashsite I think they are all Generals. *Note* I'm not too sure on the Fourth and Fifth Wave, they might be different depending on the map you play on. Enemies may vary on maps. Good Luck and Happy Farming Credits go to Rotagila88 for inspiring this post ^ - ^ *Special Thanks to KilroyJenkins For Some Updates* [Edited on 10.04.2010 8:23 PM PDT]

If Activision was smart, they would break contract and not partner with you or i wont be buying any of thier future games either. Refund my money for Halo, or lift the rank lock so i can play the full game i paid full price for please, thanks.
AMEN!

 •
Posted by: Switch296 I want to know if what Sayuri posted is allowed or not. The whole doing a firefight game by yourself thing. Wouldn't it be considered network manipulation?
I can see how it would be. He used his profile to somehow "reset" the network to get in a game by himself. It seems like too big of a risk, let the Banpocalypse that took place recently remind you to make careful decisions.

I've tried it out today it is hard at first but once you understand how to play the game, it does become easier. the only difference is that you have one life so i recommend using sprint so you can run to get a health pack and back to your generator. if you can complete a round of crashsite get get roughly around 1500 - 2500 cR. i'm not too sure on exactly how much you can get but it makes ranking up a lot easier. It's more fun than gruntpocalypse in my opionion becaue it's like a combo of rocketfight in score attack. the fuel rod and concussion rifle are probably the best guns to have when farming because you can get a lot of multi kills. It makes getting a killionaire a whole lot easier on average if you fire a whole clip of fuel rods at a group of covies you normally shouldn't get anything lower than a killtrocity. this method is a fun and easy way to farm credits. make sure you lock down your generator often so it doesn't go boom.
Sorry about the readability and lack of instructions in my post; I'm PMing op with more thought out instructions of it so he can add it.Good to see that someone actually tried it.

 • Hey Shokag3, my friend showed me a good way to get War Machine and Right of Way. Basically start Long Night of Solace on rally point Alpha, Normal difficulty. Play through until you get to the part where the corvette comes and you have to blow up its back thrusters. Thrust as fast as you can once this part begins towards the back of the corvette and get as close to the thrusters of it as possible. Blow one thruster up (you only have to blow 1 up) to create a checkpoint, then swoop under the corvette and look up, you will see 10 banshees stationed right at the underbelly of the corvette. Use one set of rockets then switch to machine gun and rack the banshee kills, revert to checkpoint and repeat. BTW i found that if you swoop to the left a bit than slow down and look up at them, they don't try to launch off the corvette as fast, making it easier to score more kills.

 • Here's one that takes a certain amount of skill, but can level up the Get Loud, Numbers Game, and Perfectionist commendations at a decent pace. This method is actually just as good as Gruntpocalyse. I've tried it out today it is hard at first but once you understand how to play the game, it does become easier. The only difference is that you have one life so I recommend using sprint so you can run to get a health pack and back to your generator. If you can complete a round of Crashsite get get roughly around 1500 - 4000 cR. I'm not too sure on exactly how much you can get but it makes ranking up a lot easier. It's more fun than Gruntpocalyse in my opinion because it's like a combo of rocketfight in score attack. This method is a fun and easy way to farm credits. You can also try to do this method with Sniper Fight the only difference is that you have 10 lives to play with but you don't have to defend an objective and no over shield. Ok time for some Tips: - Weapons of Choice: The Fuel Rod,Concussion Rifle, and Plasma Launcher are probably the best guns to have when farming because you can get a lot of multi kills. Remember you should have two of these three weapons at all times to make things easier. the DMR and Pistol isn't really something you should use in these game types becaue you have infinite ammo, it's time to put them down and be a NOOB!!! The second wave should be jackals now these guy would normally be hard because of their shields but your Fuel Rod or Plasma Launcher makes quick work of these guys. The Fourth Wave is all Skirmishers. - Recommended Maps: Crashsite Farming: Pick either Courtyard, Corvette, Outpost, or Holdout for Crashsite (They by far have the best generator positions). As soon as the game begins, go and kill a grunt with a fuel rod gun and take it.Then, lock the generator and kill the rest of the grunts. At the beginning of each wave, lock the generator and go camp by one of the phantoms. When you kill the squad that jumps out of the phantom. Repeat for each wave. Since you have unlimited ammo, do extra damage, and have an overshield, it is extremely easy to get multikills (I average about 60+ multikills a game and 100+ fuel rod kills). Once you get into the rhythm of this method, it becomes extremely easy. Corvette Might seem easier to do BUT it's actually not you MUST be carful because you life can drop faster than you can say oops Sniper Fight Farming: For this one I recommend playing on Courtyard. Good Luck and Happy Farming Credits go to Rotagila88 for inspiring this post ^-^ [Edited on 10.04.2010 12:43 PM PDT]

 • Quick question and I'm sure it's already been answered but I don't want to shift through 19 pages but, is the TacoHalo method bannable? You are going to be afk and Bungie have already stated that you can be banned for being away and still earning credits. I know it isn't using a script/mod, but it could be misinterperated at their end. Any insight to this?

 •
Posted by: Kevlarcasm Can somebody explain to me how one would "cheat?" The credit system seems farm-able, not not necessarily open to cheating to me. I don't plan on cheating, but I just want to know what not to do.
There was a glitch where when you got a weekly or daily challenge, if u shut off ur internet, u coould get it again, and earn double credits, etc. thats wut everoyne is getting banned for.
