Some recommend changes to quitter/leaver penalties in Comp.

The reasoning for the proposed changes are down below in the Spoilers:
If you've ever played in the Comp. playlist without a full team, you've probably encountered matchmade teammates leaving. And whether you're solo or with a pre-made team, we've all most likely seen or been a victim of disconnections(whether "intentional" or not). After either scenario occurs, now you're forced to play at a disadvantage, and though victory is still possible under these conditions, it's an automatic defeat in most cases. While disconnects due to either bad internet, weather conditions, or the occasional DDoS can't be really prevented aside from taking action on the player's side outside of the game, I believe there should be some changes to penalties for those intentionally leaving a match, as that's a conscious choice by said player.
Changes I'd like to see: 1. Harsher penalties for the initial quitter(s) Bungie has stated in the past they can differentiate a pure disconnect and a player leaving a match via either their Ghost, changing characters, being removed from fireteam, etc. But if someone willingly chooses to leave their teammates(regardless of the reason), a bigger penalty should be imposed on them(i.e. an instant restriction, not a warning for the first time). You're making that decision, and the only thing that can stop you, is you. 2. Some protection for those left in the game Now say you're one of the people left behind after someone quit or got disconnected. You're obviously now going to have to pull some more weight to win that match, especially if it happened towards the start or the opponents have a lead. I still believe that a loss is a loss, no matter how it happened. But you still shouldn't be forced to play the rest to avoid quitter penalties if you think you can't win it(especially with how some players handled Breakthrough while it was still around). So for those left behind, while Glory should still be lost(though I can understand an argument for not losing as much of it), they should be free to leave after the fact and not suffer a warning/penalty. If you manage to pull out a win, that's great, and it feels very rewarding. But if you truly believe you can't anymore for whatever reason, getting out immediately to start a new match fresh should always be an option. Since if you lose, it's a complete and utter waste of time, and just feels more disheartening. TL; DR More severe penalties for players that intentionally leave their teammates behind, and no penalty(though Glory will still be lost) for those who choose to leave afterwards. In addition to that, penalties for those who get disconnected(whether intentional or not) will remain the same as they are currently.

 • I'm not sure that the stick is the way to go here, what would be better is the carrot, buff drops for the losing team so you get something out of getting your ass kicked. What would be interesting is to buff damage/damage resistance by 25% for each person under 4 you have in a comp game.

 • I'd be happy with a system like overwatch. Restrict them from earning glory and quest progression until they complete a certain amount of comp matches then progression unlocks. And if they keep leaving over and over ban them for the season.
