Maxing out DPS and smartly utilizing buffs and debuffs to do astronomical damage isn’t a cheese. It’s playing smart. Going to orbit to despawn adds is a cheese, DDOSing Crota is a cheese, pushing Atheon/Templar is a cheese, despawning the bridge adds is a cheese. Maxing DPS isn’t a cheese.
Work smarter, not harder. Do the job as quickly and efficiently as possible. If I’m cutting down a tree in my yard. My ax does 1 DPS. My chain saw does 100 DPS. Which should I use to complete the job quickly and efficiently???

By your logic, pushing Atheon off wasnt a cheese, it was using Novabomb to its full effect and placing it smartly to guide the enemy to its death.

No. It was considered a cheese because it was abusing the AI system in place. We were creating an unintended reaction to an action we did. Bungie stated this and put the bumpers up to prevent this. With Riven, we aren’t abusing AI coding with cluster bombs, were utilizing the weapons design and purpose appropriately. They are completely unrelated.

Putting all 6 players in a room designed for 3 and killing Riven instantly bypasses all raid mechanics. There's no reason to lie to yourself and call it anything other than what it is. Youtubers agree its a cheese. LFG lists it as a cheese. Only the delusional few that are offended by the word cheese seem to think otherwise. There are 4 categories when doing something the unintended way: cheat, glitch, exploit, and cheese. Cheese is where this one resides. This is not a strategy. A strategy is having 3 players shoot 2 eyes instead of 6 shooting 1. A strategy is using celestial Nighthawk to one shot stagger Riven. I repeat, putting 6 players in a room built and designed for 3, in order to intentionally skip every single boss mechanic, is not a strategy, it is a cheese. It doesnt make the kill any less valid, but its just stupid to call it anything other than what it is. That being said, it can technically be used AS a stategy to CHEESE the boss. But it cannot be used as a strategy to kill the boss as INTENDED. At the end if the day, we've probably both made up our minds about said topic, so no point in wasting energy fighting each other. I don’t see how exploiting bad AI is comparable to dumping enough damage to an enemy as being the same thing 🤷♂️. That’s be like saying that blasting a Skolas in the first few seconds utilizing weapons of light as being cheesy. But yes, to each their own and we will agree to disagree 👍(which this seems like the whole community is polarized on this)
