I'm curious about the actuality of this Cluster Bomb "cheese". Is it really to be considered a cheese or a strategy? I've used it this week... personally, I would call it a strategy. You're just using the tools provided to your character in order to defeat Riven. There is no foul play with one person disconnecting in order to despawn enemies. If you're strong enough to destroy her in one phase, why not? I've cleared the raid only two times. One the long way and this week with clusters.
I want to read some of your opinions on it in general. Do you consider it a "cheese" or an actual strategy? Thanks.

1 ReplyEdited by Raevenent: 10/11/2018 12:19:52 PMI can see both sides of the argument. But honestly, I prefer doing Riven legit. Had someone flex their 9 completions on me when I said the cheese wasn't working cause our damage wasn't out there enough, after he said he cheesed Riven all those 9 times trying to sick a burn on me. I simply said "You may have more completions, but I at least know how to do it properly without using the cheese".

1 ReplyWould it be considered a cheese when killing strike bosses early and skipping areas?

4 RepliesEdited by Edge Transit: 10/11/2018 2:54:52 PMImo it's not a cheese. Simply a design flaw on bungies part. They did not anticipate the amount of damage players are able to put out once they reach high light (hence the cheese was not there for the first week and half because not that many people were high enough light). Even with cluster you need to be 580-590+ to pull it off. A cheese would be something a 500 light team can also pull off. Which they can't. This is the same as one phasing sedia in corrupted before she escapes, you end the strike without having to chase her through an entire new area.

2 RepliesA cheese. Not a glitch, but a cheese. You're not doing anything to break the game, but you're bypassing all the mechanics of the fight. It's a loophole in the mechanics that Bungie didn't forsee - an unintended gap. Going through that to skip the trickier parts of the fight would be a cheese.

Pushing Atheon off the edge with grenades was technically using the tools we had to to defeat a boss. Bungie considered it a cheese, which pretty much answers this question. They'll probably patch it somehow.

Point is the cluster bomb strat is a cheese, whenever your bypassing the mechanics of the actual fight your cheesing it. Not that hard to figure out. It’s just to many scrubs can’t do the normal mechanics so they have to find the easy way in order to get it done.

I wouldn’t consider it a “Cheese” but they wouldn’t have put in all the mechanics if that wasn’t supposed to be the way that you destroy her. I’ve done it both ways, I do the cluster strat when I don’t have a lot of time for wipes and all that good stuff

5 RepliesWould you take a taxi in a marathon? It’s a cheese. Learn the encounter. It isn’t even that hard.

Bungies fault for a poor mechanic, however is still a cheese. You are skipping the mechanics and Bungie said they are going to patch the ability to do so.

I’m pretty sure they meant for us to use the looking glass so I call it a cheese

1 ReplyIt's a cheese. You're ignoring all the mechanics of the fight and just melting the boss in a way that wasn't intended (6 people in a single room). It will be fixed and you'll have to learn the real mechanics.
