I never got to really play d1 like that and I just wanted to know what everyone thought was better in d1 or d2, if there were any quality of life improvements or just general things or small things that were better than the other
Just want to know what I missed out on, seeing that I will probably not play it
Edit: kinda wish I had played d1 in its prime from what you all have said so far, I’ve seen gear from d1 and visually it catches my eye way more than d2 does

Edited by TheArtist: 10/9/2018 8:32:47 PMBetter in Forsaken: 1. better weapon system. 2. Wider variety of play styes. 3. New supers. 4. Bows. 5. Better mission and strike design 6. Gambit. 7. Wider variety of end-game activities....especially for solo players 8. Wider variety of activities Better in Destiny 1. 1. Crucible. 2. Progression system. 3. In-game economy. 4. Old supers were much more powerful than they are now. 5. Iron Banner. 6. Bounty system. Much less restrictive....and more rewarding in Y3 D1. All in all, I think Forsaken is---from a content and game play standpoint----is a better game than Destiny 1 was in Y3. Forsaken feels like what vanilla Destiny 2 **should** have been. That being said, the Crucible team is still lost and struggling to provide an enjoyable PVP experience. Its still dominated by team shooting, and still has tons of snowball mechanics and no rubber-band mechanics. The lack of SBMM in quickplay just makes for a miserable experience for the average and the solo player. The old supers that came from D1 are still relatively underpowered and need buffs to be up to par with the new ones. But the biggest issues are the Progression system and the In-game economy. What this game had at then end of Destiny 1 is VASTLY superior to what the Investment team is trying to force on D2....because it rewarded you for how YOU wanted to play the game. Versus the current system which basically PUNISHES you for not playing the game the way that Bungie wants. Strip out those two things and replace them with their Y3 D1 equivalents....and you have ONE AMAZING game.

1-D1 Raids are better than Last Wish. 2-D1 exotics were all new. D2 has something like 12 new and rest are reskins. 3-Mod system in D2 and ledge climbing are improvements. 4-D2 grind is not as fulfilling as the D1 grind. (Random rolls help offset this) 5-Crucible remains just as broken in D2 as it was in D1. Blame P2P or whatever. The shine has come off the pumpkin as far as this franchise goes. We all know how the game will be made and how subsequent DLC will/maybe if lucky, provide the core gameplay improvements players bring up in feedback. Overall D2 is the best it’s been despite the flaws mentioned.

As of right now, D1 currently has better raids both visually and gameplay wise. Personally I think it has better weapon exotics right now as well. Raid armor in D1 was 100% worth grinding for, for its perks and the aesthetics. I personally think D2 crucible is in a better place but you could choose the playlist in D1. All in all I like both but i do think D2 has not quite surpassed D1, although it definitely has the potential to do so.

3 RepliesEdited by Obi Wan Macaroni: 10/9/2018 6:41:53 PMDestiny 1 had 4 amazing and unique raids, that were not as much bound to mechanics. The raids all had multiple bosses. Destiny 2 yr1 raids only had one boss. Destiny 2 has ledge grabbing, which was not a thing in d1. Destiny 1 has a weapon progression system, destiny 2 doesnt. Destiny 1 has fully customizable subclass trees. Destiny 2 doesnt. Destiny 2 has masterworks. Destiny 1 doesnt. Destiny 2 has lost sector, destiny 1 doesnt. Destiny 1 has sparrow horns, destiny 2 doesnt Destiny 1 has artefacts (perks that you can equip), destiny 2 doesnt. Destiny 2 has adventures, destiny 1 doesnt Destiny 1 has light machineguns (heavy), destiny 2 doesnt Destiny 2 has grenade launchers and smgs. Destiny 1 doesnt. Destiny 1 has prison of elders, destiny 2 has escalation protocol. Destiny 1 exotics feel powerful, destiny 2 exotics feel less powerful Destiny 1 has glowing shaders, destiny 2 doesnt Destiny 1 has unique raid armor ornaments, destiny 2 doesnt Destiny 2 looks slightly better with graphics Destiny 2 has more public events with incentive to play. Destiny 1 has a gamemode called rift in pvp, which was some kind of 'plant the bomb' gamemode Destiny 1 has meaningful vendors with new storage every week, destiny 2 doesnt. Destiny 2 has more bounties to do. Destiny 1 used to have sparrow racing. Destiny 2 never did for now. And so on and so on

They ruined the whole deal with the launch of d2 , esp with drop rates on exotics and such . Now every third post on the forums has to do with sleeper or I have no exotics ..

Edited by drvankmen: 10/9/2018 4:21:15 PMit was a different game, no other way to put it. the philosophy was different. d2 is the kid sister version of d1. Destiny lite. gear was challenging to get and rare in many cases, but the gear was very powerful and worth pursing. pvp with the best gear in the game was incredible, as very few people in lobbies would have it in the early going. in D1 if you worked at it you could set yourself apart from the crowd in loads of different ways. d2 is digital socialism.

No comparison, D1 way better, plus it was new and tons of good raider to play with
