Summoning Primeval first does not feel like an advantage.

When you summon primeval first... Enemy team can save heavy/special/super, constantly harass with invasions to force you to waste yours, you are much less effective at initial spawn when you have ammo, they drop blockers, they get stacks and can burn immediately.

  • The entire mode is slanted to favor the team that's behind. I despise how the mechanics are obviously intended to stretch out the match.

  • Gambit is designed to punish the leading team and hold the hand of the losing team. Getting invaded repeatedly because your team did a good job summoning the boss first is the most ass backwards game design I've ever seen. This is Bungie after all so I can't say I'm surprised.

    • Invasion is part of the game. But I think the timer on it is too short. A well-organized team can almost continuously harass you WHILE the other three players continue to drop blockers on you. The game would be better served either by lengthening the portal cooldown between invasion cycles or you stop dropping blockers once the other team calls out their Prime. I think reducing the number of invasions is the better option.

      • Omg stop all the crying we're going to drown in your tears people. What is so wrong with creating a game that is designed to give equal opportunity to players of all skill lvls. Stating it is helping lesser skilled players is so asinine. If they are so low on the skill chart killing those invaders shouldn't be an issue. So what's the problem. You've all been there and nothing is worse than a complete blow out. You can't do anything at all you just die and die and die some more. This game gives a chance at the phenomenal comeback. It is still possible to run away with it, we dropped a prime once or twice while opposing team had 60 or less banked. If you're having that much trouble maybe it's your skill level in question. Or lack or team work and coordination. The only place for a lone wolf here is the invader. The game isn't broken. Too many of you don't learn how to actually play it. It's a tactical game. You have all the warning signs. You know what happens every step of the way but complain when it happens because you didn't plan according. Not Bungie's fault.

          • Dunno, played a couple of matches of gambit and didn't feel gimped being ahead and summoning first. Then again we took our time killing the witches and all focused on the invaders. After that... we burned and won. If they summoned first, a good invader go in and slow them down as fast as they can alllowing your team to catch up. That is how I see it anways.

            • If lead team kills envoys then second primeval summoner automatically gets stacks and can ignore their own envoys. Just save supers And heavy, ignore wizards, melt boss in 10 seconds. Amazing Bungie can’t see why this isn’t competitive at all.

            • Of course you do have a choice of when to summon if you think it's tactically better to summon second...

            • A nice solution would be to allow invading at the same time once the other team jumps through the teleporter. That or once a prime evil is acquired by the first team the teleporters open up on both sides at the same time to allow an even playing field.

            • It’s not necessarily a disadvantage, though Bungie has admitted that they do award stacks to the other team to help them. The hard part is playing solo with random players, who 1) Do not focus on the ads and wizards immediately, 2) dumps all their supers and heavy before there are any stacks, 3) don’t res anyone or hunt down invaders.

              • Use rigs tether and ep shotgun to delete the boss and all the adds around you. Or use well to make you invincible. If you try to use a super/abilities when boss spawns and just wipe the field it makes the rest of the fight much more manageable and you’ll find you have way more time to do boss dps in between invasions
fun fact if you get well with Luna faction and a empowered melee off, with just one other shotgun you can insta kill primeval boss with no slayer stacks
• With carefully structured team, there’s no need for slayer buff. Malting point Titan and well/luna warlock, plus ep shoty, prime evil will die in sec.

                • It is though you get to kill the wizards first and start getting him ready to melt. First two things that should be done after the boss is summoned is kill surrounding ads and deal with invader. Then melt. A good team will melt him before the portal even opens up again to invade.

                • Yep. Gambit is poorly thought. As soon as i played the thing there was just so many issues around it. As soon as i saw an overshielded all seeing invader i knew there was trouble.

learn to burn. If you can burn down the prime evil then its a huge advantage. you should be playing the whole round to burn him down. Once he spawns instakill the wizards. Throw the wellness rift on boss, ikelos and heavy till dead. The other team will try and kill you. if your good they will not have enough time. Learn to Burn.

                  • This is beyond true. It's actually better, if you aren't blowing the other team out of the water in terms of mote collection, to wait until right after the enemy team summons their primeval to summon yours. Another prime example of bad game design that revolves around lifting up those that are less skilled for no legitimate reason. Hopefully Bungie will address this so that being ahead actually benefits you. Oh and don't even get me started on the catch up mechanic that further compounds this issue by rewarding the losing team with a set amount of primeval damage stacks.

                  • I've played matches where neither team would summon the Primeval First. The first summoner is at a severe disadvantage. Not only will they have to fend off Taken sent by the other side, they have to deal with continuous invasions. They only time I would recommend summoning first is if everyone has full super and heavy to quickly take out Wizards before burning down the boss.

                  • It's a disadvantage and has been stated as such. Unless the other team just flat out sucks your going to loose if you spawn it first since gambit is fixed(again it was stated by Bungie).

Stay spread out, preferably where they spawn as well. I tend to take a position between their spawns to be able to spot and send shots at them.

People cry about the sleeper all the time.. wait til more people have Thousand Voices.... Spray anywhere near an enemy and you one shot em outta their super.
