I haven't played a ton, but the only exotics I've received were from purchasing them. I haven't had very good luck with exotic drops period. Maybe it's the way I play the game idk? I cant remember the last exotic I got. I think it was from cayde. The majority of exotics I've received since playing destiny 2 have been duplicates.
