To answer your question no. The only thing the race thing does for you is if your awoken and you get some special dialogue. That's it.

What special dialogue? The scene where you have one voice line?

No Petra and the other awoken will call you cousin and such also when you first go to the dreaming city your ghost will say "your awoken do you sense anything"
