I don't play competitive

DISCLAIMER this is not a simple post of someone whining about how they didn't get the new forsaken exotic they wanted yet this is a plea of hope coming from an OG destiny player whos heartbroken over the current state of Destiny crucible competitive. If you are the slightest bit upset about the state of competitive PLEASE give it a read to see if you agree, because the only way for bungie to see this post would be upvoting. I was mentally destroyed after losing a 5 game win streak to get out of brave (after getting multiple games of breakthrough with very poor teammates), because right at the beginning at the match a teammate leaves the clash game I'm in. I've never been faced with this scenario so I assumed that the game would be a draw and we would all go back to matchmaking. But after 10 seconds the game didn't end. Within 20 seconds they were teamshooting us and walking all over us. Within a minute I realized the game wasn't going to end at the time. The game just went on until the other team won. Why? Why would bungie purposefully make it so that if a teammate leaves, you better be as good as two players if you don't want an unfair loss. I made a previous post about competitive but I didn't talk about this problem, because I thought it would be obvious that the game should end if you are a man down. Not only do you have to sit through 10 minutes of being steamrolled, but when you lose it counts as a regular loss. ?????????????????? Why would this EVER have to be addressed? I can't imagine the conference meeting where they decide that if somebody leaves your competitive game "you should have been better if you wanted to win". I am astounded that more than one person agreed on this. Not only this, but since the streaks system is pretty much the only way to climb the ranks in a respectable time, if you lose your streaks because of something like this you would have to hope you can win 5 games in a row, which can be a very big gamble if you are a solo player, which is my next point. MATCHMAKING IS F***ED I play competitive only with a 4 man or with a duo, and when I play 4 man I win quite often in fun, tense matches of ace of spades and bygones (which is ok considering most people have one or another). Even when I duo I usually end up with ok or on par teammates. The other times tho, ive got a first time competitive player with me against two mythics with hendrix's and lunas howl. First off, I am in Heroic (at the time of the match), which is practically the equivalent of something like 2200 in Overwatch, which I will comparing to. The first time player would be around 1500 ish assuming they jumped right in from quick play. Now if me and my 2200 friend were with a 2200 random and a 1500 random, this would already be a bit sketchy, but when placed against two people with 2200 and two people with 2900, it IS A BIG DEAL (for two reasons). Not only would this IMPLY that they were better at the game (which could not be true), but it would also (most likely) imply they have lunas howl, which is LITERALLY made to be one of the best in crucible. You may be thinking, "oh well it's destiny, theres less strategy and much more shooting". Which is for game modes like clash and survival, very true. However, in games like breakthrough (which is broken enough on its own) and countdown, strategy is ALOT of it, and it not strategy, team-play. Strategy in shooting games is ok, great even, but if you are pitting a first time player against two player considered to be much above averagely skilled, there is no doubt that there will be a disadvantage. Not only this, but if the new player was steamrolled (like they probably were), would they really want to keep playing competitive, knowing that they were just placed against people that may have been assumed to be first timers and beaten as badly as they probably were? Especially in these types of game modes based around strategy.] Which brings me to my final point, the game modes. Personally, I never solo queue in competitive. Most people in my clan don't either, for the sheer risk of being either A) matched with bad teammates B) matched against mythics C) matched with bad teammates in countdown or breakthrough D) matched against mythics in countdown or breakthrough E) matched against a fireteam in countdown or breakthrough If any of these things happen, which usually happen every other game in competitive, its probably a loss. While most of these problems will most definitely be overlooked and are probably going to be deemed "unfixable" by bungie, because they don't listen to the community unless theres a game breaking bug that might make you get dried out too fast and don't buy the next DLC (im begging you to prove me wrong bungie), problem A can be solved quite easily with something they might actually add. If there were different playlists for each of the competitive playlists, such as "solo", "team", and "all", then ranks could be MUCH more accurately given. In "solo" for example, there would be gamemodes where INDIVIDUAL players could shine, so that your rank gains or losses wouldn't be determined by how well your TEAM performs, but how well that individual PLAYER performs, In order to keep it consistent, this playlist could only have game modes such as survival, clash, and control, game modes that don't have as much strategy as much as they require pure aim and reactions. This could help the issue of players doing very well in a game mode like clash, however losing because their team didn't do good. Say for instance a player has a 4.00 KD but he loses, lowering his rank. Thinking about it in your head, if you were this player, would you just nod it off, and think "well I should have been better". NO you would think, "well dang, well thats unlucky." And what about the "team" mode? This could just be the current competitive mode, except only with full fireteams. Most fireteams of four who enter any sort of crucible are usually in comms, and this would be TRULY a competitive match of skill and coordination unlike the current state of competitive. This would have a separate ranking from solo of course, but it would allow REAL PVP players such as myself a platform to play against another team full of guardians in their own comms determined to win as much as us. This has only happened once or twice in regular matchmaking but it is by far THE BEST way to play destiny crucible. And the "all" playlist could just be the current state, where if you really did want to play breakthrough with random players (for whatever reason), then you could. This gamemode would probably be for solo players who still want to experience all the game types that the crucible offers, but it wouldn't have to be their main playlist. In conclusion, when you click on the competitive playlist from orbit, you have just rolled the dice. Will you be evenly matched with or against people of your skill level, will you be solo against a fireteam, will you be duo against mythic ranked, will you be LUCKY? And thats what all the problems with current competitive are all about. Luck. Unless you really want to devote time and grind really slowly with the weekly competitive points, most completionist pve players will never get their Not Forgotten, new players will be pushed away with the luck based matchmaking system, and hardcore pvp players like myself will never get the "competitive" ranked system they were told of in warmind.
