Is anyone else just plan tired of all the jumping puzzles in Destiny 2? I have had enough of them. It almost seems that when Bungie can't come up with something unique or new, we get some or another jumping puzzle? For whisper it was ok, made sense, to do it big time once. But not over and over and over. Really, if I wanted to play a platformer game, I would. But Destiny is a First Person Shooter... or it used to be, right? Enough with the blasted jump puzzles! For example, does every ascendant challenge have to be a jumping puzzle more than a combat challenge, no, enough is enough.
Edit... This topic has really hit a nerve... over 500 posts!

If I want to play jump puzzles I’ll brush down my SNES and stick in MARIO. Frankly I’ve never found an FPS where jumping works well and Destiny’s ropey jump controls make such puzzles really tedious. Not helped by the horrible restart points either (missed the 11th of 12 jumps? Well back to the beginning for you!). Still, a couple of lads in my clan seem to enjoy them and they’re not the toxic “Destiny is sacrosanct” fanboys that usually come on here so it’s a case of different strokes I suppose.

I agree with you. In theory they make sense, but Bungies mechanics are not jump puzzle friendly. Can't even call them puzzles because it's not even an issue where you have to figure shit out. The controls just aren't good for jumping. Its very frustrating to have to keep starting over in a fps because you keep falling to your death even though you landed on the rock.

I'd like some more mazes but I dunno kip puzzles beat long hallways in my book.

2 RepliesNope, but the physics of the game could definitely use work to make them better. The number of times that walls just act like rubber and bounce you off is just far to high. And the amount that stubbing your toe flings you back is far to much. I enjoy a good jumping puzzle, but a good physics engine is needed to go with it, and that is something destiny really needs to work on.

3 RepliesFelwinters peak anyone?

3 RepliesMe and a friend had to drink 2, yes 2 tinctures to do the jumps for the ascendant challenge this week. We were laughing so much at the fact that we were at it for 45 mins then a clan member hopped in with us and skipped all the way thru in 2 minutes.

1 ReplyFrom the like to comment ratio I think not

Jumping puzzles were fun sink Taken King. Still are today.

3 RepliesIt's getting pathetic how over used they are now, just look at this week's Ascendant challenge, the one where you have to jump downwards, now that one really annoyed me big time, your totally right they've obviously ran out of ideas.

1 ReplyLong tme gamer / sometimes programmer, and been on Destiny since week 2 year one. I've always viewed puzzles as the lazy programmers way to extend the game. They think it is a sign of their high IQ and that the average gamer won't see through it. And many don't, re: the "git good noob" comment's you always see. I agree, Destiny has been getting too jump puzzle heavy, and I have long decried their trend get so mechanic heavy on their raids since Crota. But at least the overall content in Forsaken is head and shoulders their best imho. So I tolerate their pandering to the 14 year old players they need in their business model.

2 RepliesAgreed. Jumping puzzles are like girls. Cool to look at but when comes to being with them or doing the puzzle they just become a nightmare. Roflmao. Sorry. Couldn’t help it. Lmao.

1 ReplyIt's the absolute worst part of the gameplay. GDAM hate when shooters do this. One or two...meh. In everything??? F that.

I’m actually getting a little irritated with my FPS becoming a Mario platformer. I don’t mind a jumping puzzle or two in the raid. Whisper is a pretty cool challenge for sure. But now EVERY ascendant challenge is a damned jumping puzzle. Both Raid Lairs were little more than jumping puzzles. Between jumping puzzles and Bungle forcing me to run a broken Crucible for every damned exotic weapon quest and 2/3rds of the clan bounties every day I am quickly tiring of the grind.

I hate the jumping puzzles.

2 RepliesCouldn’t disagree more. I love a good jumping puzzle, some of the best laughs I’ve had with friends have been in the jumping puzzles. Remember the one in the oryx raid with the dick traps, many a time I was reduced to tears watching friends get punted just when they thought they’d made it. Good times!

4 RepliesMobility is pretty decent chunk of Destiny's appeal and design, so platforming makes sense as a common factor in level design.
-
No. Platforming has always been a design element of the game. It’s one reason why I like it.

1 ReplyYes, sick to death of this week AC. I usually just skip them if they are jump puzzle.
-
1 ReplyAgree totally, i do NOT play Destiny to do jumping puzzles! Yes i freely admit i am useless at them, but i play to shoot aliens and not to do super mario bros thank you.

13 RepliesI spent 2 hrs yesterday on the Ascendant challenge. Was solo and kept dying near the end of the jumps. Then if I made it to the boss I would die from jumping to avoid taking damage from the floor and getting insta-melted by a blight above me, lol. One change I would really like to see is a checkpoint at the boss, rather than have to do the jumps over and over.
-
I agree with you and jumping puzzles during boss fights are absolutely asinine
-
Yes especially with the weird in air situations that end up stealing your hunter jump.
-
Never had a problem with them
-
Yes they are a weak future that most D2 players categorize as "content" or "cooool design"

Everyone else that's commented on your post seems to like them but I'll back you up. Jumping puzzles are ok....they have their time and place....but I do think Bungie tend to lean on them to heavily.
