Now if you had told me a week ago that you think Oryx will make a return I would have laughed and shook my head at such a silly comment. Now I'm not so sure I'd have the same reaction, let me explain,
So I've been hearing people spreading rumours that Oryx the Taken King will make a "return" in the future of Destiny and being the lore creature that I am I decided to do some digging.
To keep it simple Oryx is a Hive god, Hive god's can only be properly killed in their secret little pockets of reality known as throne worlds.
We killed Oryx on his dreadnought and banished him to his throne world where it would have taken him considerable time to regain strength to re-enter our reality but we went into his throne world and slew him in the King's fall Raid. This means Oryx is not just dead but he's really, really dead this time.
Now as you progress through the Destiny universe you come across fragments and lore tabs that hint at Hive god 'revival'. Today I came across a bounty from spider that follows,
WANTED: VARGHUL, FRAGMENT OF ORYX.
"Did you know that there are three ways to kill a Hive god? How many ways do you suppose there are to resurrect one? Get out there!" - The Spider.
This is now raising some eyebrows since Oryx' minions are still trying to bring him back in some unknown way. Since Krota is out of the picture perhaps Nokris will attempt to resurrect his father with his necromancy to gain his favour back? as we know Nokris isn't dead. Who knows what will happen, exciting times ahead. Let me know what you think!

Nope, we killed him within his throne world so he died a true death. Plus the touch of malice exists in the lore he can’t be brought back since his “will” is bound to the weapon. It’s the same case with the whisper.

9 RepliesOryx: I will make a weapon that allows me to live on through its wielder! Touch of Malice: *is blown up by ghaul* I doubt oryx is coming back because Savathûn tried to kill him permanently a good few times. Now that she’s in control I suspect she will try to stop attempts to resurrect him, let alone help to resurrect him.

6 RepliesHe’s resurrected Savathûn and Xivu Arath from true deaths before, but the power required would be unimaginable from anyone short of the queen and the last of the three sisters.

3 RepliesThe road map for the game still exists in case people have forgotten. The roadmap is the final cutscene after beating the base campaign when the light explodes from the traveller going across the system and beyond. Touching mercury first (CoO), Mars (Warmind), the reef (Forsaken), then the dreadnaught (while after that it shows beyond the solar system then hitting the triangle ships) Which means we’re going back into oryx’s turf for some reason, which personally I’m believing it’s because Xivu and maybe savathûn have done something aboard which is why the taken have a renewed purpose. Or they pulled his body back from Saturn, brought him back with whatever hive magic, and we face off against the three heirs to the osmium throne.

5 RepliesWhat if Oryx had a throne world inside if his throne world that was and was not the Dreadnought in our world.

1 ReplyDidn't Eris always preach about him still being alive?

2 RepliesHarbinger's Seclude in the Dreaming City. Harbinger means: a person or thing that announces or signals the approach of another. just sayin ...

14 RepliesI really want Oryx to come back, I mean Savathun is cool and all, but imagine an expansion with Savathun, Xivu Arath, and Oryx all in one. How cool would that be?!
-
The Hive in general will have to find Oryx’s soul though. So unless they know exactly where the weapon is for a dash and grab, very much doubt Oryx could come back unless they found another way to bring him back. Savathun won’t benefit from this though. Savathun has to trick and murder anything and everything to keep going so she has to prevent Oryx from coming back. She might though be powerful enough that she’ll challenge the only one that has any claim to the throne because, well, because we might’ve killed Oryx in his throne world. It’s going to get interesting all the same.

We killed him in his throne world. He's dead. If they bring Oryx back they might as well bring Cayde back. It would be just another reskin.

“Trickery above us and war below us, in a place built for navigation” the unholy trinity
-
It will never happen because he’s dead deceased gone for ever end of story ....... so do you finally get it?
-
3 RepliesI’ve been curious if that’s been savathun’s endgame all along, a very epic and dramatic return of Oryx.
-
3 RepliesSpoiler. We killed oryx in his throne world and places a part of him in Touch of Malice Unless that gun is some how destroyed and released him, lore wise, he is gone
-
15 RepliesOryx coming back goes against the one thing the hive worship - the sword logic. If something dies, it deserved to and whatever killed it is more powerful and gains its power. So oryx made the books of sorrow for whoever killed him. Nokris is looked at as a heretic for going against the sword logic in necromancy.

People forget that Crota's essence still persisted in his Throne, even after he was slain there. The Hive are like cockroaches, all the way to the top of their tithe, infesting wherever they go and extrodinarily hard to kill.

8 RepliesIf oryx comes back, that breaks the logic of what ToM is.
-
1 Reply1. We killed him in his Throne World. The Hive’s true death. He’s gone 2. His essence, his soul, is the Touch of Malice. It would take destroying that weapon and freeing his soul from it to revive him.
