Bungie: Yes! Me: "Ah, I see. What if I don't hack it?" Bungie: Well, then they get a point. Me: "Ok... Why did I capture the first point?" Bungie: Umm.... Me: "Do I get any benefit from capturing the first point?!" Bungie :Uh... You get 2 minutes to hack their vault on the other side of the map directly next to the enemy team's spawn point.... Me: °-° ok then

I like the idea behind Breakthrough. Having said that, the execution is deeply flawed and it should be in development, not in the comp playlist.

13 RepliesBreakthrough should be in a separate playlist. It'd be cool if Bungie made more playlists. Another thing is I think the playlists should be renamed. Clash (6v6), Skirmish (3v3), (whatever you want to call 4v4), and any gamemodes with 8+ players and no objective would go in a playlist called Slayer just like in Halo. This would award Valor. Breakthrough, Rift, Combined Arms, Salvage, Supremacy, Control, and any gamemodes with objectives would go in this playlist. It would be called Team Objective. Again just like in Halo. These would award valor as well. Singles, Doubles, and Elimination would go in the Face Off playlist. It would use the same matchmaking system as competitive and would award glory. Rumble would be on it's own since its not team based and would award glory as well. Then competitive which would stay the same, just remove Clash and Control. This allows for multiple avenues for competitive players which I would love to see implemented. Plus these revisions would be a throwback to Halo which would be nice. I'd also like to see more Valor rewards.

Breakthrough is one point control. Cap a point. Move to next point. Cap point. Vice versa, defend point. It's uninspired. And if no one captures the breaker within the time limit? It just keeps going. What's the point of the time limit if it doesn't come to sudden death at the end of it?

it just needs some minor changes but its ok, its also a campfest but im used to it and by changes i mean spawn killing, heavy just for one side (it needs to change with the breaker imo)

1 ReplyIt definitely isn't for everyone since it is heavily dependent on Objective game-play to win, which compared to the rest of Destiny's game-modes is usually only half the focus or even all of it. I feel like it is the closest we will get to a classic King of Hill style mode though, so I'll take it.

I've seen a lot of bad things in games over 30 years of gaming.. ..but it's certainly one of the most boring modes they added to the crucible, both if you're on the losing and winning side. If you're winning, the entire team, warlock or not, hogs the centre, and if you're losing you're running against impenetrable walls. I play it only if a bounty requires it.

2 RepliesDr. Lupo played a game where him and his team were non stop getting farmed. You do this by capturing the first point, but not finishing, and continue killing the enemy until the round comes to a "draw"; and you go to the next round... bad game design comes into play when you hit round 10 and no sign of it ending. BIG over sight on the development side on this one.

“Spawn trap” the game mode

My 2nd and LAST game of breakthrough involved a clanmate inviting me to play this "fun" gamemode we were up against a 4 stack with Luna's n 1 had Wish Ender this didn't bother me as i suspected ppl would be sweating here. So we fought back n forth trying to cap B/middle/whatever eventually we lost and were pushed back to spawn. What followed was the most bs rage inducing thing I've ever experienced in pvp, rather then hack our vault and win they sat in front of our spawn emote spamming as 1 at a time we'd spawn and 1 at a time we'd get mowed down by teamshot,. Just to rub salt in the wound they popped bubble on the zone with just enough time to cap it.
