*See the last edit at the bottom for a possible solution to this problem*
I have been trying to sign into Destiny 2 for two days now and every time I select any character, it loads for about a minute and then an error message pops up saying:
"You have lost connection to the Destiny 2 servers. Your permissions to access online multiplayer gameplay may have changed or your profile may have been signed in elsewhere.

So I visited the site and found a list of possible solutions and tried each of them with no success:
- Renew the account subscription if the account’s PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription has expired; I checked my XBox Live Gold subscription and it was still active
- Restore licenses if the PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live subscriptions are confirmed to still be active; I uninstalled and reinstalled Destiny 2 and all of the add-ons I had purchased
- Clear the console cache to remove potentially corrupted temporary data that may be impacted the account’s licenses; I performed a cache clear on my system
- Log out of the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live account on any alternative consoles; I have no knowledge of any sign-in attempts for my account on any other system and have not received any relevant notifications on the subject recently
- Log out and sign back into the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live accounts on the target console; I logged out and signed back in
- Add additional security features to their accounts on alternative consoles to prevent unauthorized access; I have already had security measures put in place for my XBox Live account
- Check PlayStation Support or Xbox Support for potential maintenance or service outages; I checked Xbox Support and it said that XBox Live had no service issues or any issues in general
I am just wondering if there is ANYTHING else I can do to fix this, I just want to play the game ;-;
EDIT: I have tried leaving my XBox shut down for 10min per @RedPhoenix HD and even that did not work https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/248847751?sort=0&page=0&path=1
One other thing to note is that various different attempts at starting a party with a friend on the system have all failed:
- I cannot send party chat invites to anyone on my friends list; every time I hit "Send" there is no notification of the invite and no notification for the target friend
- I receive notifications for party invites from friends but get a party error message immediately upon accepting the invitations
- I have tried both sending and receiving party invitations on the XBox App on PC, both of which result eventually in "We can't connect to XBox Live right now; the service might be down."
- Despite the above, I am still able to send and receive text messages to and from friends both on the console and the app
I also just checked XBox Support's Twitter and found this: https://twitter.com/XboxSupport/status/1045464768742449154
So these issues might be related to XBox Live, and they say they fixed it 3 hours ago but it is clearly persistent.
EDIT 2
Per an OpenDNS Support article I found, I manually changed my system's primary and secondary DNS address' to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 respectively and that seems to have fixed the issue!
