I cut all of the the trace's short (ctrl-c) when their results became clear (I'm impatient) but the culprit, at least for me, is clear.
Two of the trace's looked fine. The other three spiked at the hop called;
xe-11-1-0.bar2.Cincinnati1.Level3.net
To verify this, I also ran some trace's on two application hosts my company utilizes, one in Philadelphia and the other in Phoenix, both of which I noticed performance issues when connecting to from home the last couple days...

Looks like I have Cincinnati to blame for my issues with Destiny and otherwise.
I would encourage anyone interested to perform the same traces and provide this information to WOW technical support.

2 RepliesI ran Last Wish last night and everything was normal. Also I got a call from WOW this morning and they confirmed that I had been part of a major issue and that the issue had been resolved their provider.

4 RepliesEdited by Tribunal: 10/2/2018 12:05:59 AMI don't want to get everyone's hopes up prematurely, but it 8:00 PM EST and the choke point hops aren't showing the lag spikes. Now, it's Monday, which is a low traffic night, but here are my numbers. [Cinci route] Tonight 5 19 ms 32 ms 19 ms xe-11-1-0.bar2.cincinnati1.level3.net [4.59.42.33] Saturday night 5 663 ms 657 ms 676 ms xe-11-1-0.bar2.cincinnati1.level3.net [4.59.42.33] [Chicago route] Tonight 9 24 ms 20 ms 20 ms chi-b21-link.telia.net [62.115.63.86] Saturday night 9 141 ms 133 ms 138 ms chi-b21-link.telia.net [62.115.63.86] The 9-midnight time frame will be the real test, but this is encouraging. I haven't logged in yet either. I've just been running trace routes every hour, starting around noon EST. So far though, with an exception at 3:00 PM which jumped to 160ms, latency has stayed low and consistent all day.

2 RepliesSent a message to WOW support on twitter, got the following response: "There are some bad hops with traffic going to Level 3 currently. Please note that this is not within our network, however we do have a ticket that we opened through CenturyLink/Level 3 on our customers' behalf for two apparent bad circuits. Their work is currently ongoing. - Aaron"

I sent a complaint email to wow over the weekend and I got this response “We are definitely not throttling any speeds or performance and actually are supporters of net neutrality. Early this morning, my network engineers have reported that in our Ohio and Michigan markets, the evening hours (peak usage times) are seeing latency and slower speeds. They are currently working on a resolution. I have actually spoken to multiple customer in regards to just Destiny 2, but have not determined if the issue is solely in the markets I mentioned. I have advised any customers that are having issues with this game to contact either Sony or Microsoft and attempt to gain information regarding port forwarding to provide to us. If the issue is due to a firewall restriction or in relation to these latency and speed issues, we will determine and resolve what is causing it. If you would like to respond to this email with the requested port number, I can attempt to open them for you. Thank you, Tony DiGioacchino Peer Development Specialist

2 RepliesI just got off the line with WOW and they are saying this is an issue that they have no clue the cause of the problem. Apparently they are working on it - it's been 4+ days and per istheservicedown.com https://istheservicedown.com/problems/wideopenwest-networks/map There is a LOT off issues tied off on this.

1 ReplyEdited by Tribunal: 9/29/2018 11:48:49 PMI have the same results as you when I performed the trace. I then performed the same traces through my company's VPN, and 2 things of note. 1) I did not hit Cinci nodes in any trace, and my pings came back no more than 180ms (which for VPN isn't bad). 2) One of my VPN traces hit ae-1-6.bar2.LasVegas1.Level3.net, but is came back in 159 ms (obviously it took a different route to get there). So I would say the problem is xe-11-1-0.bar2.Cincinnati1.Level3.net (4.59.42.33)
-
Yep, seeing same results.

Continues tonight. Absolutely horrible connection, no enemies in strikes. Has anyone heard anything official from WOW?
