As I see it the current light level system has two major issues. 1. It is very much in favor a triple maining characters. If you want to gain light levels as fast as possible you have to specialize in a single type of class. I think this is fine for people that are fine with just playing one class but it creates an unbalance in the game where people who want to have a character of each class can not level nearly as fast. 2. You either have to use weapons you don't like or grind for infusion to keep the weapons and armor you want. I have a thought on maybe a way to completely revamp this that makes the game equal for players with any class combo and change the way we look at gear. What if light level was just like an experience system that you gain from weekly events that is connected to your account. The gear would just serve the purpose of having the buffs. By limiting the gear to single buffs like exotics have you would make the grind for gear based more on the buffs they provide then the light level. We could also see set bonuses come into play where you have bonuses for wearing set gear. This could also lead into an expanse of the mods system which would take on the resource consumption of infusion. The highest benefit that I see is that a person that does all weekly and daily activities on three characters gains that same light level benefits regardless of what combination of classes you have. The only other way to balance out the multi class system would be to offer additional character slots but realistically their just isn't enough time to maintain 9 characters (3 of each) to maximize the effort. It just seems like a flaw in the system when you have to choose between enjoying each class the game offers or gaining light in a competitive manner.
