Anyone who has played pvp lately knows that shotguns are all the rage in the current meta. I propose we do something to make non sleeper Fusion Rifles a little more attractive.
Batteries are inherently dangerous, but especially so when you are tasking them with very high drain applications. Have some sort of system whereby you can overcharge them and get blown up or catch fire. Maybe have a charge time range instead of a static length, where trigger release sends the payload forward. Then add some sort of benefit to playing riskily and charging it longer, but at the cost of possibly exploding.

2 RepliesI agree with you sprinkles, but the problem is that bows kind of eliminate the need to do so. Fusion rifles had power in situations where critical damage wasn't possible, and linear fusion rifles offered a precision time delay weapon (other than sleeper). Bows have rendered fusion rifles looking for a role in the Destiny 2 meta. Bows not only have a charge time, but are accurate, have larger reserves, are more versatile, and have penalties holding the draw string for too long. As much as I crap on weapon design sometimes, bows were really well executive. The problem is there isn't a place for fusion rifles due to this. This is also why I like your idea of an overcharge or a blow back. Fusion rifles need some sort of weapon class specific advantage that extends beyond the PVP realm. This is a class of weapon that will be abandoned in all circles but PVP and anyone forced to use random drops during the grind...oh wait that's everyone. Good argument man.
