This is how I counter the sleeper in gambit.
When someone invades, it can only be in 1 of 3 places so I will head towards one of those 3 that is away from npc enemies, using cover until I can be sure they’re not at the location I’ve picked (radar is immensely useful here) you can then circle around out of sight as they will invariably be looking for your teammates and towards the bank / your spawn, if you’ve kept your positioning good they will have no idea you are about to shotgun them in the back.
A big part is keeping moving and staying low, being airborne plays into the sleepers hand so try and avoid that.
Yes it’s a little OP, but not nearly as broken as the nerfherders would have you believe and it’s an exotic so it’s supposed be powerful for gods sake. It also provides the only counter to some of the roaming supers warlocks and titans have these days, and for that I’m grateful!

So that leaves a 66.66% to be wrong. Leaving you at a range that the sleeper is best at. What's your fall back plan then? Hide? Peekshot? Or rush him or use a sleeper on him?

Your obviously too stubborn to take advice or adapt. Last night I played about 5 games of gambit, I died to invaders with sleepers 2 or 3 times, but killed around 15 invaders using sleepers. Every situation plays out differently, I fear you don’t have the mental capacity to figure out a strategy that works for you so find it easier to come here crying for nerfs. The weapon isn’t the problem, you are.
