Turns out Mithrax is a “Mama’s Boy”
The Dreaming City Lore “Misraaks” speaks of a time when he was a Vandal and captured by the enemy. He would rather die than be captured and disappoint his Captain, who turns out to be his mother.

Honestly, I love how Destiny is going into depth about the fallen social hierarchy and connection with one another. They show time after time that they are loyal and stubborn but when there needs to be a change, it occurs.

Well if you we're a Vandal in a tough time for the Eliksni where they are only surviving because of a mega house supply of Ether, would you want to disrespect any of your superiors, If he was captured he would have been cut short on Ether rations so he would be better off dead than suffering of starvation. [spoiler]also he follows traditional Eliksni ways, and has honor to himself and his family. given the situation survival is going to dishonor him and disappoint his superiors, it just so happens that his mother would be one of his superiors at the time[/spoiler]
