To do that they would have to drop its damage way too much, the aim assist reduction is a good start.

They could just decrease it damage and increase it's headshot multiplier.

It would have to be a crazy reduction, do you really want it down to one third it's current damage if you happen to miss the crit due to flinch or teammate interference? Aim assist is the way to go, but who knows what they will actually say or do when the hitfix finally arrives
