Lore people tell me everything you know about Ahamkara

I’ve always been instead in the wish dragons, but I’ve never known much about them.

The Ahamkara are a species as old as the Traveler, as they have been recorded to follow the Traveler to where ever it goes. They seem to act as a parasite to the species that the traveler picks, manipulating them through their desires. They are one of the only, if not the only species in the galaxy with a Triple helix DNA strand. They can manipulate Time, space and reality to their will, being as they can cary out literally any wish given to them. For example, If you find an Ahamkara and you wish for an infinite amount of loot chests, they will give you just that as soon as you ask for it. However, wishes are always double sided. Once you make that wish, the Ahamkara will give you the chests, but not a single key to open them. You also must pay for wishes. For example, If you wish for every exotic in the game, the Ahamkara may ask for something in return, which is whatever they want. The Ahamkara were captured and studied on Venus before the Collapse by the Ishtar Collective (That is about all that I really know about pre-collapse Ahamkara stuff). AFTER the collapse, however, is where thing get interesting. The city got reports of Guardians taking too many wishes from Ahamkara and putting the city at risk. A new event, Known as "The Great Hunt", then began, which was led by the Famous Titan Saint-14. The Great Hunt was when the City encouraged Guardians to go out into the system and Hunt Ahamkara for Sport and bounty. But even after near extinction, the Ahamkara still give us trouble. Some Guardians, too commemorate their efforts, made armor out of the bones of the Ahamkara they killed. These bones, whoever, still possessed the consciousness of the Ahamkara they belonged to. The armor eventually started to make deals with the guardians who wore them. Now when the Great hunt happened, the Reef caught wind of it. And when Uldren Found a newly born Ahamkara and gave it to Mara as a Gift, she thought "What if I let the City kill all of the other ones and I would have control of the only one left in the system? Gee, that would be a nice power to have..." So she kept her new pet, Which was named Riven, a secret and let the city do its thing. Then Riven, with her reality altering capabilities, helped create the Dreaming City along with the Awoken Techeuns. It was cool for a while Until Oryx showed up and obliterated the Reef and attacked the Dreaming City, where Riven was. Oryx then found Riven and Took her on the spot, thinking it would be cool to have a wish granting Dragon as part of my army. After Oryx was defeated, The Awoken then locked away the Corrupted Riven in the Heart of the Dreaming city, hoping she would not unleash chaos again. To escape, Riven then took advantage of the Fact Mara was supposedly dead and spoke to Uldren telepathically, acting as Mara. She then told Uldren to gather forces and forcefully open the Dreaming City, and when he did, The terrifying meatball known as "Voice of Riven" was the first of Riven's Army to invade this plane of existence. And, well you know the rest...

      • They are dragons that feed off of wishes. They usually, if not always, turn the wish against the wisher. They can also shapeshift.

        • Their bones and scales still hold power after death/ Guardians who wear them were said to have hallucinations and hear whispers. To dampen or silence the effects some guardians coated the bones in silver. Such as the sealed ahamkara grasps. In forsaken Our poor prince Uldren is practically dressed from head to toe in scales.

            • <The Ahamkara are smug space dragons. They don't worship the Dark or Light but their powers are clearly Darkness based by nature. Their powers being to grant wishes with a major and dire consequence. That power is why they were deemed too dangerous and hunted to apparent extinction. Other ties to the Darkness include their similarity to the Worms, that being the use of the O ___ mine phrase. This phrase is a commanding phrase beings of Darkness use to get their way... in a way. Despite this similarity, they are not the same species as they are biologically and behaviorally different in literally every other way. An Ahamkara's base form is a feathered, frilled, tusked (?), dragon/bird. They have defined talons and scales. Essentially they are flying dinosaurs. However, this leads into another ability, shapeshifting. Ahamkara shapeshift to trick people into making wishes, or "bargains", with them. Making wishes feeds an Ahamkara like death and destruction feeds a Worm. Shapeshifting also leads into things like Riven, where she changed shape to be large and imposing, unless that was the natural shape Savathun wanted her to be. Their remains, similar to Hive gods and Worms, have the ability to "whisper" beyond death. This still tricks people into making wishes and has a very strong effect on Hunters and Titans.>

              • The Ahamkara are mysterious creatures. They are dragons, originally. Dragon like creatures but they can shapeshift into anything and they also grant wishes. Anything you desire. Seeing them as a threat, the Vanguard led a system wide Ahamkara Hunt, supposedly killing every last Ahamkara, save for Riven, who was Queen Mara Sov’s pet and friend. Unfortunately, not much is known about the fate of Riven or how exactly she was Taken, but she was Taken by Oryx during the Taken War. Now, it’s also known that the Ahamkara transcend even death itself, so I don’t really think the Vanguard or anyone destroyed the Ahamkara forever, or at least not Riven, seeing as how her last wish, granted to Savathûn, that Curse is still plaguing the Dreaming City.
