Am I the only who thinks that light level affecting gameplay is kinda dumb, im 540+ light and haven't done the raid and I find it annoying that because some guy has 5 more light level than me I can't kill him with a single fist of havoc charge instead I have to follow up because he has a tiny bit of health left. Not to mention some players just got the expansion or the game in general and they can't really compete because they don't have the light level necessary to fight back.
-
I, at 515, struggled but only when I went up against 550-560+. If you can’t stand the heat get out of the oven.
-
I think they never should of spoiled you whiners with a level disabled iron banner. Im sick of hearing these whiny posts when IB was originally and always meant to be level enabled, personally i just started playing 2 weeks ago and and had i played when it first came out and tried the first d2 iron banner i would hate it. Those claiming to be huge PvP buffs i dont understand why you're complaining, i enjoyed the challenge of clawing my way up from 320 light to the 500+ I am now thanks solely to th IB

1 ReplyI LOVE that they reintroduced power levels in Iron Banner. It how the event was first introduced and it helps make it unique otherwise there is ZERO difference between IB and regular Crucible other than loot tables.
-
Light level was the only thing separating Iron Banner from regular old crucible. The power difference was kind of the point.
-
Why complain when you're already near max level? I went from 20/260 to 50/500 in the crucible last week and had plenty of times, and still do, when I barely do damage to people who are 500+ and instead get shot down all the time leaving me with a 0.5 KD. lol But what's it matter?! It's a game, so relax and enjoy it rather than throwing a tantrum. If it's too hard for you, there are always the other game modes that have level advantages disabled. If you only rely on your super to net you kills, you might wanna rethink your pvp strategy in the first place or work on your aim/gear setup.

1 ReplyYou are in the minority. I take it you never played D1?

1 ReplyEdited by O_Town_Racer: 9/25/2018 2:13:47 PMYour problem is lag, not a +5 power level. The damage diff is not that dramatic. It could be on your side or your opponent's, and you can't do anything about it. It is how Bungie's PvP works and has been since day 1 of D1. Some games you are a "god" and others you are shooting Nerf bullets. Deal with it or don't play. It isn't worth the aggravation. Especially since IB does little to nothing to help boost your power level (it was pretty good about doing that in D1 - not D2). There are only 2 IB bounties that dropped "powerful" engrams and they were not easily completed (in my opinion). You are much better off doing other activities to level up than spend time in IB. The best rewards from IB are the armor sets (something different) and unique weapons, but again, not more powerful than you'd get from any other vendor. I managed to collect full sets for my Warlock and Hunter, and have started the set for my Titan.

3 RepliesIt would take more like 20 power difference to really make a palpable difference. 5 power doesn't make a difference. If you're 540 and you were having issues. Then its your connection, Bungie's peer to peer BS, or your skill. I was running around at about 540 the whole IB and I never felt like I wasn't able to kill opponents or that I was getting one-shotted. So I have to disagree.
-
Doesn't matter, destiny and d2 pvp are pure crap.
-
No issues here
-
Light level didn't seem to matter as long as you are above 525.
-
2 RepliesKinda the point of iron banner and trials of the nine, for all that gear you worked for to matter. There's always regular crucible.

2 RepliesEdited by Lyrro: 9/24/2018 9:04:11 PMI'm in and out with the whole light level advantages thing. On one hand, I sort of like the added challenge but I'm the guy who prefers to play games on harder difficulties. When I'm the one who's higher light though, I feel like some victories were not deserved because I know my opponent would've won if he were not being handicapped. Regardless, however, light level in pvp should never be enabled if that game does not offer those players the ability to grow stronger as they play. Bungie has created a game mode that punishes you for being weaker yet offers no means of getting stronger by playing that mode, so your options are to play and be perminantly handicapped while making little to no progression, or do not play. Edit: I believe that you do not get good at any game by playing on easy or normal. Playing the game on hard mode forces you to "get gud", but handicapping players in pvp while buffing their enemies does not encourage improvement. It just makes them feel as though they're only losing because of the handicap, rather than their strategies. At that point they stop caring about improving because "the only reason you won is because you're a higher power level than me." not "Maybe if I stop rushing in and dying over and over, and actually play the objectives, I might win."
-
iron banner has always been like that, ever since destiny 1 vanilla days
-
Wahhhhhh
-
1 ReplyLL enabled Iron Banner is a pvp mode for pve'ers, which is laughably backwards for a pvp event. Those who pve grind the hardest are rewarded with a pvp mode which give them the advantage. It's hardly a test of skill. It's opposite, really.
-
Yeah I'm only 524 power and yesterday I came up against a guy and his 2 friends that were really high light, the highest being 594! I didn't think anyone could possibly get so high light already? Surprisingly it eneded up being a close loss instead of the blowout I expected. They were hard to kill! I was doing around 20 a crit with my bygones against him😣
-
3 RepliesWhat is it with the light level mattering, who asked for that? Whoever did should be beat with a rubber hose.
-
IB is messed up there is no rotations like in quick play I was in the same group even after I back out to get new one. Kept getting the same aposing team out of freaking China that were all 585 and lagging. Every game I kept joining kept putting me in with them and we kept getting mercied. Need to do lobby rotations every match.
-
It really doesn’t make much different I have t noticed an thumb between my 557 titan and my 525 warlock...
-
I came across a few no lifes/exploit scrubs in the 585-589 range, what dafuq?! 😂
-
Iron Banner in D1 was light level focussed too. I didn't get the expansion, but I was still able to capture zones and give the opponents something wlse to shoot at. Shotguns and snipers do high damage even for me at 385 LL.
-
4 RepliesI'm going to be frank here: Light level enabled IB right now is Horse [redacted]! I've seen a lot of people who are trying to get the bounties done, me included, and some glitch-abusing 560+ comes around and just smashes everyones face into the dirt. Yeah, It's not fun. Also, by glitch-abusing I mean that there are several that have used the prime engram glitch to fast track their characters to stupidly high levels, ones that are unreasonable to fight against. So yeah, level-enabled IB this early was a BAD idea.
-
I’m pretty low level 512 or so and I’m doing pretty well . You guys need to step it up
-
5 power levels is not a significant difference in IB...
-
Power level should be enabled for iron banner. That’s how it always was in D1, that’s how it should always be.
