Annoying, yes....but what’s the rush?

  • It's not about being in a rush for me. It's about validation. When I spend a sometimes substantial amount of time working towards a milestone/challenge for the powerful drop, I feel cheated when it's not actually powerful.

They built their game progression around a finite amount of dropped rewards. Already kind of a weird spot, there's lot of loot-based games, but Destiny is the only one of dozens I've played that put the basic leveling mechanic at the mercy of drops. Anyways, everytime one of those rewards turns out to be useless, its using up a finite stock. Again in contrast to most any other loot grind game where you can just redo the mission to try and get the drops you need (though those don't offer the 100% drop rates). Those are arguably still finite because there's only so much time, but you can always catch up with a dedicated effort. Certainly, its unlikely you wouldn't get up to Raid (or even max LL) over the entire time before whatever the next expansion is. Even with the blown drops, but its not impossible and that spectre looms large when an entire week of drops comes out as duds. Being a month in (when new stuff basically has slowed to a crawl or stopped entirely historically) and locked out of content still by bad RNG doesn't really add much. Do the same strikes, the same bounties, the same PvP modes and maps over and over again to maybe unlock that last Raid at that point is going to lose a competition against the oncoming xmas deluge of other games by a large portion.

My only rush was being ready for raid launch...since that was impossible, I'm not in a hurry now lol...the only other problem is that it feels like a HUGE waste of time to finish a long, challenging piece of content, only to get an item lower than the one you currently have

  • Our clan guider for raids is already hiring the most powerful members to do the raid. We are getting complaints about him from those who are having a tough time powering up because he won't help them. So thats putting pressure on people to rush

  • Tell them to pipe down If they aren’t correct level, they don’t get to raid. Period. Part of dealing with a clan unfortunately.
